<p>RJ from your description its hard to tell what&#8217;s going on. We make that part to come off first. Otherwise you bend your compressor into a metal sculpture if something goes wrong.</p>

<p>Just so it&#8217;s clear, we DO hand polish the ends of all the pistons before we assemble them.  If you take a look you will see that the radius of the polish extends to the inner part of the oring. </p>
<p>In Dan&#8217;s case we sent him some fresh experimental pistons and they didn&#8217;t get the polished edge before we sent them. 									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In my experience using helium to power paintball guns they make a lot of noise and get no velocity. </p>
<p>Piston to cylinder clearance is not an issue because the orings do the sealing.  It&#8217;s true helium is harder to seal but it should work good enough to get some pressure up.</p>

<p>There is some big mystery going on here. We have never had a compressor shut off at 1500 psi and never had a burst disk fail at that pressure. Most likely there is a clog in your air line to the tank that is sealing up after 1500 psi. </p>

<p>1. Unscrew the air line fitting at the back of the cylinder and bend the tube out of the way.<br />

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What is your input pressure?  The higher it is, the lower it will shut off.  Also when it shuts off does the needle on the gauge move down at all?  A good gauge is worth the money. </p>
<p>Also try turning off the tank valve and just fill the hose. See what it shuts off at and report back here.</p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If it started working again after removing and cleaning the delrin inserts and orings then one of the orings is loose on the shaft. You would normally only finger tighten the allen nut on the end but if you tightened it up all the way and it worked, then the big oring is your problem. </p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If it&#8217;s 1 or 2 CFM it hardly matters. The only difference is how many times the shop compressor turns on during a fill. I can&#8217;t stand the things so we use a bigger one just so we don&#8217;t have to listen to it.</p>
<p>We ran one off the smallest cheapest compressors from Harbor Freight and it worked fine, it just kicked on all the time.</p>

<p>We had about 5-6 compressors have problems with one delrin tube in the upper cylinder. I spec&#8217;d it very tight at 1 thousandths clearance and a few were tight on the shaft.
