Those two tiny little grub screws are the &#8220;major downfall&#8221; of the factory top hat. They come loose at the worst time, usually when you&#8217;re out in the field hunting.<br />
Tony&#8217;s inserts may fit your top hat but you will still have the grub screw issue.<br />

It&#8217;s really hard to say exactly which top hat you have without seeing it. The Talon Tunes top hat does have the internally threaded &#8220;throat&#8221; like you described. Another way to tell the difference between the TT unit and the factory unit is that the TT is a one piece design so there will be NO set screws in the collar.<br />

It will drop a coon at 50+yards with no problem and its &#8220;mouse fart&#8221; quiet. You say that you&#8217;re NOT a tinkerer. You don&#8217;t need to be with the Marauder. Mount your glass, fill it up and go shooting. It has an 8 shot rotary magazine, bolt action and is very reliable.<br />

Although I don&#8217;t have an answer for you regarding the shroud ( I don&#8217;t own an SS ), I can tell you that YES, the 24&#8243; barrel will push the &#8220;Mamba&#8217;s&#8221; faster.<br />
I run an 18&#8243; shrouded (R&amp;L) barrel and my rig groups the Black Mamba&#8217;s very well.<br />

I&#8217;ve had them both for at lease four years and never had a problem with either of them and I use the shit out of them. I use the short one when I&#8217;m still hunting and sitting up against a tree or something and I use the tall when spot and stalk hunting.<br />

My Talon-Dor is making the same amount of power that your Condor is and it has no problems pushing 70 trainers with more than enough power to drop coyote or small hogs ( at an ethical range of course).<br />

Hard to say what,if any improvements because I have yet to chrono my rig with the new spring. It packed a huge punch before the spring upgrade with the 70+ gr Black Mamba&#8217;s so I&#8217;d imagine it picked up some FPE!<br />

I also had a problem with mine wanting to slip off of the trigger blade. To fix it, I removed the shoe, and where the set screws left marks on the trigger blade, I just dimpled the blade with a small drill bit. Hope this helps. I didn&#8217;t know they were called &#8220;snap ring ears&#8221; but what the manual is talking about is the flat steel tab that is on the spin loc collar ( directly behind the face of the collar that you would tighten with the spanner wrench.<br />

Stacking additional parts inside the frame MAY give you problems. Also, by placing a steel weight between the hammer and the breech will most likely cause additional hammer slap noise.<br />
