Well, cops just showed up…..
The local PD just paid me a visit. Apparently one of my neighbors complained the I was “shooting a pellet gun in my backyard.” The officer was very nice and reminded me that while it is legal to shoot a “pellet or BB gun” in my backyard that I need to remember that fences have cracks, kids, dogs, etc
I explained that I had a well designed trap backed by a 3′ x 12′ section of brick wall. Metal electrical box with three inches of duct seal BTW.
I’m off for the next two weeks so this could be a daily occurrence.

We have a pond with water-fall in the back yard not too far from our rear porch door. The pond is a fantastic game magnet during the day or night which makes 90% of my shots relatively short, easy and shooting from a home door, does help keep things quiet.
The water feature also attracts some critters that you may not want, but staying up later for the coons usually works.

You’re in a better position to decide than any of us but I would be careful mounting a suppressor around neighbors like that if I were in your position. From the sound of it, if they see it or see you shooting with no sound they might use that as an opportunity to call again and that time it could put you into a prison cell. It’s happened before and I could imagine it happening again.
If there is a tree line or something that blocks direct sight then a suppressor may help you in all sorts of ways. I personally would not use one outdoors because of the legal climate.
The thing that gets me is if they had the common sense to walk over and ask, you probably wouldnt have any problem figuring out a solution that makes everybody happy like shooting while they work or using a suppressor. Instead they pull out the last resort first as if you’re a danger or are unapproachable.
(Start playing a radio outside even when you are not shooting. It does not have to be loud but it will help drown the sound of the shots out. You could also get a hammer and do some construction when you are not shooting to help your neighbor adjust to the pop sound)
I’m such a shithead..this sounds like more fun to me…
Record your gun shooting for like an hour….
Play the recording everyday for your friends listening pleasure..put it on a timer so it does it all on its own. This should drive your friend nuts, and if when the cops show up, you could honestly say…that guys nuts..i’m not shooting any guns over here. It just must be my radio or something..no gun shots here. Sooner or later the cops will forget about that goofball neighbor and quit responding.
Getting a better moderator would be a good idea..then problem solved.
Had that happen to me, back when I was a kid shooting a target taped to a tree stump out in the woods with my Daisy 856. Yeah, apparently a .177 10 pump is a firearm and is illegal to shoot in the woods but they’ll be nice and tell me to go home… not confiscate it or arrest me for breaking the law with an illegal non serialized firearm.
Of course that’s not the first time they told me vague and possibly fabricated laws like how seeing a kid throw a rock through my window is not enough to get the police involved. An officer has to witness it or photographic evidence.
The police aren’t on our side unless it can raise crime statistics and get them more funds so people should deal with problems themselves.
You aren’t breaking any laws or hurting anybody. You clearly aren’t bothering anybody either since nobody came to you about it so let them keep calling the police until the police just tell him to stop abusing the police phone lines. You could also offer a ridiculous deal to your neighbor like if he gives up TV, Fishing, or something else he likes; you’ll stop doing harmless activities that you like.
6 times a day should do the trick of letting them get used to noise.

I hate bitchy neighbors, and it only takes one.
Dang that sucks dude. Be sure to check the state, game and county laws and ordinances.
Wasn’t mine. I don’t own one…yet. 😉 They are very attractive.
Steve – Was it your MCT I missed out on yellow? Damn nice gun. Was ready to sell the cat to buy it.

that’s the second referral I’ve gotten for them.
Silence is golden 😀
I read about this guy in another thread:
http://www.mellonair.com/
Maybe Alan Zaszgy (SP)…does someone have the contact info for him?
If I get another condor.. I am not going to put a shroud on it just to piss people off.. oh lord.. 😉
Around here it just mentions the Smallest gun that can be used and the biggest, But that is all Firearms, nothing Mentioned about a Air rifle.
But they can always refer back to the minimum gun, but the Pellet rifle has the same power the CB Cap does and the 308 far surpasses it, so in small game I’m untouchable. 😀

That’s a nice side effect . I dont hunt but if game delivered itself to my back yard who could resist. Please tell me you have a grill back there too. What usually shows up in your area?
Round here I have to drive out to the everglades for target practice or pay to shoot an airgun at a 25yd pistol range. Now I love the everglades but driving all that way just eats up the rest of the day. Plus my secret spot for some reason has had some “activities” the sherrif department was investigating and wouldn’t explain what it was. They’ve been checking in a lot and told me it’s still ok to shoot but I have this odd feeling one day I’m going to somehow find myself between a cartel boat and 8 cops while carrying a rifle and each of them thinking I’m with the other or something crazy.
