i have a Talon SS with an 18 inch barrel. am considering a conversion to a condor tank/ valve. what else will i need? heavier hammer( and if so what weight)?, different hammer spring? ALL ADVICE APPRECIATED

Airbud,
Yeah that looks about right, while I have not had a 18 inch barrel, the Premiers did 1250 or so in my 24 inch with a Condor valve and do 800 in my 12 inch Talon ss.
You will need a new valve guide and valve retaining spring to make that a Condor valve, and you can still switch back to a Co2 by replacing the parts, which is the beauty of these things.
I am sure that in a year or two someone will have a combination that will give us flat shooting to a quarter mile and then start rising 😆
Then the world will be ours 😈

Whoa nice bet you like shooting that one, and as far as changing to Condor do it like the pros do get a Condor valve or the guts for one and a 90 grm. one piece hammer and you will be in high cotten.
I’m using a stock valve from an AirForce CO2 adapter on my HPA tank. Don’t know if it’s a new valve or an old valve. Thanks DH. Just wanted to try to see what I could do with it. I am using a .22 cal 18″ barrel. The powerwheel is set at 5 with the stock hammer, hammer spring, and Condor hammer weight. I polished the valve, and adjusted the valve spring so that it opens the valve at about 11 lbs. This is a chrony string that I recorded with a Combro chronograph this afternoon, shooting Crosman Premiers. The starting pressure was 2000 psi. The pressure at the end of the string was 1300 psi..

Ok, its fine, didn’t wanna loose the ability to use co2 anyhow.
When the time comes, I’ll just get a real Hiflow Condor valve or the Blod valve and add a hammer weight
Mrnewbie,
No the CO2 valve is not the same as a Condor. I tried to get one to work as a Condor valve very recently and had to replace the valve guide and spring.

And NO it’s not identical to the condor hi-flow Valve.
It appears to have a larger porting for fat CO2 molecules, i guess, and I believe a different spring. That’s a whole nuther ball game of differences. Also, from my observation, the valve stem guide appears shorter which could result in a shortened life of the valve stem…But i’ve only used the Valve Stem/Top Hat from my CO2 tank for an extra pre-set Valve in my Condor air tank.
Hey, I make a lot of conclusions from incomplete diversified data and personal observation. Some things work well enough and long enough to brag about…but in the long term we may have setbacks if we can’t leave well enough alone. Gee I love experimenting and chasing a dream ❗
yes it is and yes you can.
I’m on the Shoebox waiting list..so at some point I will not care about air usage and want to go full power.
The valve inside the CO2 adaptor..is it a high flow valve..can it be removed and put in a 3000psi tank?
24” with condor set up will yield 1400 fps with 14 grain pellets.max settings. mine any way. valve has been polished up and worked over.as the whole gun, barrel, etc. ,, everything i could get to. LOL
Jerry next time I’m at your place lets experiment with tanks/valves/pressures/barrels.
Dollarhunt,
I think it was about 150 FPS in my guns with the 12 inch barrel and close to that with the 24 inch barrel.
I have looked all over for my records on it but they seem to be misplaced, sorry.
Roachcreek
theoretically you gain about 15 fps for barrel length increases( and at least in my case going from a 12 to an 18 inch barrel, that is exactly what i gained). i guess my real question is how much in fps do you gain in going from a Talon to a Condor set up if barrel length stays the same??
Dollarhunt,
With my 24 inch Condor barrel, I got about 1250 with the Corsman 14 grain pellets, So I would think you can get at least 1100 FPS with the 18 inch barrel and the Condor valve.

since i already have a Talon Tunes 18 inch barrel and TT shroud for it that works on the Talon SS frame( the shroud was for a 12 inch barrel, so the internal baffel is removed) i didn’t want to go to a louder 24 inch barrel. i am just wanting to pick up some power with the condor valve/ tank and hammer weight. as it sits now i get about 940-950 fps with Crossman 14.3 domes. if the condor valve/tank/hammer weight won’t help performance much, i will just forget the whole idea. thanks for the advice.

I kinda like the low fill pressure. I may leave it as is, and use it when my fill tank pressure runs low. Do you know what the cost is for the valve guide and spring?
