AA S410 Questions
I received a nice AA S410 carbine today, and after reading the manual, it states the factory can adjust the power level, is this something that can be adjusted easily? The more the better right? 😀 Also would like to mount a sling stud in the forend for a bipod, is there enough meat in the stock to accomodate one? Where’s a good site for info on these guns? Thanks for any help, i’ve been hearing a few of you guys rave about these for years, and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to own one, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I finally got a chance to play with it a little yesterday, forty rounds all into an inch at 30 yards off hand. I sure love that trigger, and filling it is SOOOO easy! Wednesday is supposed to be nice weather finally, i’ll get to set up a bench and see if i can stretch it’s legs a little. So far, very impressed. 😀
Note that you can drop an inch from OAL by losing that recoil pad and replacing with a standard butt plate.
Check out the indent below the ambi stock. They shaved wood, weight, and added serious class and looks to the stock!
$225 and milled specifically for the AA S410/510 series. Of course it’s permanently installed, and an non-removeable part of the shroud. The knurled bottom is merely cosmetic. I remind you that screw-on moderators are not acceptable in the U.S. I remain a 68 year old, law-abiding, church-going, lifelong Republican. I have never broken a law, and have never lied in my life!!!
Do I mind if the 36″ “carbine” is now 43.5″ long? My neighbors gave me no choice. It performs exactly as I want it to, there is no notable weight gain, and while it’s not a 50 shot Edgun at 950 fps, it will sling an 18.5 gr out there in the 850 fps range, and with 30 fps. No possums or raccoons have been able to recover and return fire to date!!!
There is no better looking, or better feeling, pcp on the market. It’s classic and timeless. 10 shot mag is great. Steve at PAG has them in all aluminum and priced same as plastic OEM.
I tried to talk Steve into making a breech riser and putting on a larger diameter shroud, in an effort to keep the OAL to 36″. He did it for the bolt action S410, but said it was cost prohibitive for the newer models as he would have to design/mill all new parts. Zap!!! That rifle would be perfect with an 1.25″ shroud and no LDC on the end.

Hopefully i will be able to play with it in the near future, been packing for days, and as of right now, the 26 ft. u haul is 2/3 full, then i get to pack all of my tools, welder, compressor, extra tires, motorcycles, bicycles, ladders……… I’m tired already. It’s break time. Leaving on Sunday. Maybe sometime next week i’ll get to play. 🙄 Played with the Talondor much yet?

Dang Hoot, that is one pretty rifle. Nice walnut or other hardwoods can be beautiful, especially when they have nice laser cut checkering and other accents. Most people that are unfamiliar with airguns never expect to see something like this, and it always impresses them when they see a quality bit of gear.

I decided to try a different approach. Instead of yelling out my window that I needed a single shot tray for an S410/510…I got online and Googled it.
Instantly, I got the website of the guy that machined my aluminum extra magazine for Pomona Air Guns (first class work) and he has them for about $18.50 shipped CONUS.
I trust this guy because I have evidence of his handy work and he is very very good. I sent off for one and am SO glad that I thought of using my PC instead of just yelling.

Here’s another thought on fpe and heavy pellets. Magazine fed rifles have a length limit on the pellet, and that has a serious impact on pellet weight, unless you go to the more expensive depleted uranium pellets, or the more easily available 24 caret gold pellets!
I have been looking for a single shot tray for the AA S series, but to no avail. My friend Roach Creek sent me some serious heavy Korean pellets, but they are definitely going to need a single shot loading. The problem with finger feeding the AA is the slot in front of the breech is only as wide and deep as the magazine. My fingers were not meant to fit in such small places. I grew up in the presence of the tools of ignorance….pick axes, shovels, post hole diggers, rakes, hoes, cutter-maddox, and double bit axes. Such sports develop fingers suitable to choking oxen, not feeding 5.5mm pellets into a 1/2″ slot and making a hard right hand turn into a barrel breech.
If you find someone that has such an animal, let me know. I want one because I enjoy single shot shooting. I may try to make one out of wood or some delrin, if I can find some.

I may look into the regulator at some point, but the classic air tube is definitely the first order of business. I would have a hard time sacrificing FPS for shot count, as i tend to test the limits in terms of long range shooting, and muzzle velocity and heavy pellets seems to be where it’s at for that sort of pursuit. As soon as i can convince the better half of how badly i need a 25. Air Ranger, and how the $1800 price tag is worth every penny, my long range fetish will be closer to fullfilment, and i will be all over the regulator mod for the S410. 😆 I should probably shoot the darn thing first before i start planning how to modify it, but that just seems to be how it goes i guess. 😆
At low power the shroud does really well. At high power, it’s still quiet, but not “asshole proof” which is what I need.

Have fun…these are sweet little rigs and a bunch of power too. I’d sure get that classic tube if possible.
Did you look down a few posts and see the regulator post on 410 that Yellow Ninja put in? If you want some serious shot improvement, at slightly reduced power, that certainly seems a good $100 investment.
