😆 Wow, I bet your friend does well in his field. I do a lot of metal detecting and research is a huge part of making good finds. But it sounds like he is looking for things that aren’t metal. That’s the real work, the hard part after the research is done. 😉
Well, the guy is no PHD, probably how he figured it out!!!
My friend just knows where to look, he has found many prev. undiscovered locations by using common sense and logic, not his education. Water access, food source, shelter, good view of surrouding area. All part of what he uses for his searches. Said none of that was taught in the classes he took.
Wow, I had no idea common sense and accidental discovery were signs of a high intelligence quotient… 😕 🙄
You do not have to be a PHd to figure that shit out. And that there is the problem. They think they are so clever when really it’s basic shit.
At least some of them understand what happened a few hundred years ago. 😉 Credit where credit is due.
Some archaeologists are actually pretty smart and use real life to figure these things out without the fantasy.
I remember reading about one who figured out why at Native American camp sites, they found chips of flint that were always found in piles of larger chips and a couple of piles of small chips and they always had a gap between them about 7-8 inches apart and always in the same arrangement.
He had an idea about it, and had a guy he knew who was a point maker, sit down on the ground somewhere and make up a bunch of arrow points. When the guy got up from the ground, there were the same piles of chips!!!
A friend of mine is an archaeologist for the state of Minnesota and goes out to the local sites that are found to document them, etc. One time, he went out to a site that he “just knew” was a camp site. He put his pack on a flat rock in the area and searched, but could not find the evidence to prove it. Eventually, after a few hours, he gave up, and picked up his pack, then… he noticed that the rock had a very regular rectangular shape to it. HMMmmm.. so he pryed it up, flipped it over…. and saw that this whole time he had sat his pack on the stone they would have used to grind their grain!!!!! 😆 😆 😆 😆

To be an archaeological intern you CAN’T have any credentials… That is why they are interns. Fuck to be an archaeologist you have to be pretty stupid anyways.

Archaeologists believe that preserving iron means leaving it in the ground to rust into nothing. And if they are looking for metal in the ground they don’t use any of the current modern technologies for recovery and documentation. They dig a pit and ignore everything else around the site. All assumption, no facts.
