My damaged JSB’s from pyramid, updated with targets
And i must say i am a bit disappointed, there are allot of bent and damaged pellets in most of the tins, the three 18 grain tins were fine, but the 14.3 grain pellets had damage in all three tins, the 15.9 had damage in two of the three tins.
I don’t know if this is acceptable or not, or if i am being to picky. But the first pellets i ordered from Pyramid quite a while back did not have any damaged pellets in the jsb tins at all, as a matter of fact i think the pellets were allot better looking, the skirts were all perfect, and these have allot of deviation and slight imperfection from being perfectly round.
I mean the first Jsb pellets i received were perfect, i was impressed with how good they looked and how perfectly round the skirts were.
Here is a pic with a quick go thru on pulling out the pellets with dented or crushed skirts, pellets in the lids above tins are damaged.
Should i pitch a bitch, or let it slide. These pellets are similar weight as the first batch, and the size is right on also, i have not shot them yet.
Oh , and the premiers that came with this batch are die C , and my first batch of Crosman Premier were Die A . They are similar weight, and sizeas the Die A . will have to see about the groups.

i dont see the need to wash a pellet, i dont really like the idea that i sit and roll the dam things to make em group better!! 😆
But hey when i have the time , with a movie and a few beers its not to bad . 😉
Some don’t like the black on the crosman pellets, but i think it is a graphite to keep them from oxidizing.and it is lube, i think its silly to wash lube off to put another lube on.
I will shoot the 16 grain jsb’s that i bought that were damaged also, when i get the chance to sit a shoot on the bench. This target was the 14 grain JSB straight from the can , but not the worst bent up pellets in the mix.i put the worst bent up skirt pellets aside do shoot them separate for another test. the bent skirts compared to the ok pellets.

The JSBs are cleaner than most others but I’m wondering if you wash them before you roll sort ❓ I did my last 2k and my plastic clipboard didn’t need wiped as often.
i shot a few 14 grain jsb groups.with the new pelleets i ordered from pyramid that came damaged.
the two groups in the center are older 14 grain jsb’s that i had from my previous order that came with no damage.
The groups on the right are straight from the new jsb can, i was disappointed, but thought about oil, so i tried my usual Remington rem oil, and FP-10, which are marked, and the groups tightened right up, all these are 50 yard , with no super tune on the condor, just fill to 2000 and shoot straight from the can,
I would the bad tins because there is probably other damage that isn’t as visible.
Well they returned my e mail and said they wold be glad to do a RMA on the order.,i don’t know if they are bad enough to go to the trouble to send back or not.
I have been ordering from Pyramyd maybe ten years and probably easily over 30,000 pellets. I had one scope damaged enroute but nothing else I can remember from I bet over a hundred orders. Recently though I have changed sources for pellets and get a special deal. I suspect it is Pyramyds supplier or shipping from the supplier if some of your tins are ok. Pyramyd goes to some lengths to keep their QC high. You can tell by the packaging.
whats strange is the 18 grain jsb that all came in the same shipping box had no damage , well maybe a slight skirt out of perfection but not enough obvious ones for me to pick them out, pretty much all my jsb shooting is sorted , because i am generally benched and shooting groups with the jsb’s , my plinking and most hunting is with the crosman hp.
So i will roll sort most all these jsb pellets, and i may weight sort some also. but i think the quick roll sorting takes care of 99% of the task.
I have sent Pyramid an email , to see what they say.

Hello i was sending this E mail to let you know that the order of pellets that was sent to me had allot of damaged pellets in the tins, i ordered 9 tin’s of jsb and a box of crosman pellets, and 5 of the tins of jsb pellets had damaged pellets in the tins , three of the 14.3 grain , and 2 of the 15.8 grain ,the crosman and the 18 grain jsb loked fine.
i will send pictures of the open cans of pellets with some of the damaged pellets in the open top of the tins.
The first time i ordered pellets from pyramid the pellets all came perfect , so i was very surprised to see all this damage, the box that the order came in was not ruffed up , just scuffed places ,no major damage. here are pics of the pellets. and the only damage to the box that is obvious.

I shot competitive BR for about 15 years so I am a bit picky when it comes to accuracy/precision testing. I do some airgun testing for one of the retailers. All of my accuracy testing is from a locked rest minus the shooter. The pellets are rolled, weighed, and measured for that. Setting the gun up is another story but I basically try to see how good the gun is alone. The latest gun I am testing with a 12″ barrel does 1/4″ groups at 50 yards regularly. With me behind the trigger on a solid shooting rest I am lucky to do 1/2″ groups. One bad pellet makes it the entire exercise worthless. That said for hunting which I do 90% of the time I use them right out of the tin unless I find one dented one. I found out that one dent normally indicates the entire tin was mishandled. Then I go through them.
Well, I’m going to hold off my order to Pyramid Air. If I hear more horror stories about receiving damaged pellets I may order elsewhere.
The last JSBs I got were clean and shiny and none deformed. I roll sort all of mine too since powderburner put me on to it.
I have never seen bent skirts in a tin like his and I have been shooting airguns over 40 years. The gorilla got them. I would call Pyramyd and get them replaced on their dime. Their packaging is very good on pellets but if the gorilla throws them at the wall a few times there is nothing they can do.
i’ve gone through 700+ 18gr jsb’s from pyramydair and the only bent skirts i’ve found have been attached to pellets i dropped. and for those, i use a tool to round out the skirt before loading.
i’d have some concern about letting the air pressure round out the skirt because some extra air must be escaping around the skirt before it deforms. as a practical matter it may not significantly impact the shot but i think it’s still worth rounding the skirts before shooting.
If you shoot from a locked vise BR like I do sometimes the bent ones are obvious on target but the difference is sometimes small. Shoot a grpup of bent ones and then ones that look perfect. The air does deform them too but not always consistenly if they are already bent. If you have a slow mo video that looks down the scope you can watch the bent ones wobble.
Those must be the ones they kicked in thier packaging video.
No matter how well they pack them, it only takes one asshole during handling to damage the hell out of em. I got a replacement order last year, the pellets looked like yours and were packaged with thier foam inserts.
The corner of the box was crushed. Looked like it was dropped off the loading dock or something. All that lead slamming together… somethings gonna give.
I would show that picture and story to PA, I would bet you get replacements for nothing.
I too have spemt MANY dollars on Gamo pellets…because I can get them at my local BassPro SHop..no ordering/shipping cost/waiting!! I have NEVER had any Gamo s that shot accurate in any of my air rifles or pistols….and I really have tried all the different shapes, in all weights, etc,etc…..this has been true with .177 and .22 as well Just had terible luck with them, which really is sad, cause like I said, I can get them locally…..
