Best psi for condor
Yes I know every gun is different but I was wondering which psi range the condor shoots best at. I have a fully tuned .25 condor from tony with his shroud put on it. I get a variety of different fpe depending on the psi fill.
Also, the poi of my pullets change depending on the PSI. I get very good accuracy from about 2750-2600 psi. Then suddenly, the poi will change.
What are your guys best fill pressure ranges to shoot at, including for the most power and accuracy?

ssshooter, i wasn’t really wasting energy with the kodiaks i mean it was just a bunch of squirrels, there are millions of them in my yard and Ive killed litterely 70 or more of them with air guns. Those were the only pellets my gun was sighted in good with at the time. The .25 pellets (doesnt matter what type) automatically destroy any squirrel if it hits anywhere near its upper body, hollow points way over do it. But sometimes I still like using predators or crow magnums for squirrels, the sound when it hits is louder and they usually squirm less.
I do love the .25 predators though and will start using those to sight my gun in with. I wish my gun had better luck with the 43 grain eun jins though. Do your condors shoot them accurately?
Cam , that string is exactly what you need to do to find the pellets sweet spot, shoot your string thru the chrony on target from the bench rest and when your groups tighten up with a given pellet, pull your tank as you have done and check the psi, now fill just above this psi and you have a tight string of 10 or 15 shots above peak point and 10 or 15 shots below peak accuracy point to shoot at,
The others have good points , for different shooting, fill all the way up for general shooting , or fill short for peak accuracy . 🙂
Most pellets have a velocity that they will shoot better at. for a exact tune on the air force rifle , it will have to be re tuned as the weather changes. mostly heat changes. i have shot my condor from well over 100 degrees to near freezing.
Which means you’re wasting energy with a through-and-through. What pellet are you using? Checkout the Predator, UltraMag, and Crow Magnum for devastating hollow point performance.
Ya i noticed the psi goes down so much faster when shooting at higher velocities, that makes sense. When i was shooting at lower powers, that was plenty and more than enough power for the squirrels and even a huge raccoon, but now they’ll be really hurtin. I shot 7 or 8 squirrels today and you can hear a much louder thap when the pellet hits then before.
Plus the wounds and blood look much more devastating now. Sometimes there was only one hole in the squirrel but today the pellet went through both sides every time!

My AAA balances out better with the power wheel from 4 to 6. 6 for heavies and 4 with short fills for lighter pellets. I’m currently waiting for a standard flow tank for the lighter pellets and a .22 barrel for more economical plinking. Both prepped by Tony.
Ah AAA – now that explains it. I really don’t know anything about TT valve systems but they sound powerful. 60 F will slow it down and high humidity on any given day.
Many diablo shaped pellets don’t like too much velocity as far accuracy goes. I found that with some JSBs and other thin skirted pellets. 800-900 fps seems to be the range when some of the thin skirted pellets do the best. If you capture them you can see the skirts deforming from the higher pressures when they are shot. It probably creates more of a wobble/spiral in flight. Try the heavier pellets for that kind of power with thicker skirts.
POI is more complex – lots of things can change it. When I go hunting I always shoot a shot or two to see where the POI is for that day. It will change somewhat as tank pressure, temp, and humidity changes through out the day slightly.
My high powered varmint firearms do it too but to a lessor extent and for different reasons (like barrels heating up, etc).
I get pressure readings by putting the condor tank on the scuba tank and putting air into the bleed valve until the needle stops moving.
Temperature was about 60 degrees. Not sure about the humidity. Altitude was close to sea level and I was shooting outside in the back yard. Also, Im shooting out of a 24 inch barrel with a shroud on it not a 12 inch. I was wondering why the kodiak’s didn’t reach a higher velocity, don’t they usually reach into the 1000’s for AAA condors?
Later, I filled to 2300 psi because thats where i was gonna sight my scope and laser at, and i chronied a few shots first to make sure velocity was still good. I saw a few 950’s like i was expecting, then a few 1100-1200’s! I was thinking WTF. I also got a few 1000+s with the 43 grain eun jins topping out at 1080 fps. That’s about 111 ft/lbs… I’m pretty sure the kodiak if im not mistaking hit 1200 fps!! Anyone care to elaborate? Isnt that more powerful then most condors? The power wheel is on 10 by the way.
How are you getting pressure readings? E-tac? I would try 2500 and see what you get…….
That is quite a string. Looks like maybe 2400 is the best fill point with a little more testing. Things really change at shot 42. Maybe shoot for a 75 fps max spread like shot 47 – 82. 35 shots with an average of about 60 fpe is pretty amazing actually out of a 12″ barrel.

Test was done with .25 kodiak match pellets.
I havent done much accuracy testing yet but im planning on sighting my gun in at 2300 psi. Previously it was sighted at about 2700 psi but i guess i wasnt getting anywhere near as much power out of my gun as i could’ve been lol.
Savage: I have a pro chrono. I know I have a safety margin at that pressure for pest removal. For real outdoor work I under charge specifically.

I am wondering if you got a one level lighter valve spring that isn’t preloaded enough. They come in increments and you can go up a level. It may explain why your PW spring preload needs to be so low.
We also found in testing at different altitiudes that a valve spring that works great at 6000 ft with a low preload on the valve may blow the tank at sea level so they have to go with a spring that works universally. We tested it at the same temperature and humdity at both locations and it was definitely the slight air pressure difference.
I’m thinkin with a temp. variation like that and if you’re right on the ragged edge of max. power you might need to shoot a few blanks to get back to where you want to be (I know you know this, I’m sayin it for those who don’t) Do you have one of those Combro units?
Savagesam – great point… I don’t want a curve, I want max power because its one shot one kill. If it goes down from there – fine – I just top off after 20 or so shots. If I go go from 78F to 95F I don’t want a dud either.

The EJs are so so. One of the problems with them is they are too long and hit the rifling when you load them. I see an avg group size of about 1-1/4″ at 50. Thats’ pretty crummy compared to the other pellets but still good enough for some hunting.
