Q:

Top Hat – This looks mis-manufactured ?

This is the first top hat I have seen up close. To me it seems improperly machined. The inside should have not been reamed out at the end causing it to be weaker and it ended up dented on the side.

Here’s the AF response:

Thank you for your email with photo. Our technician examined your photo and explained… In order to increase airflow to the highest level on a Condor, the valve pin ID is maximized and the wall thickness of the valve pin and valve pin cap are minimized. This makes the valve pin cap susceptible to damage if mishandled during assembly, shipping, or use. The valve pin cap in the picture has been damaged at some point. This damage is cosmetic in nature and should not affect functioning or performance. We will be happy to replace it under warranty.

I got the gun from Pyramyd Air.

I am currently starting week three of trying to get them to send me the tank fill adapter that was missing from my pump box to begin with. I’ve had this gun for TWO WEEKS+ and haven’t put a single pellet through the barrel.

I’ve already sent them an email, I’ll follow up tomorrow morning with a phone call.

I’ve got a day off tomorrow as Irene has thrown a few wrenches into NYC’s public transportation system.

The tophat material is harder than the stem. The stem threads would get screwed up by the tophat. 😉

Just curious what the top hat material is made of. I wonder if one unsrewed the top hat if that would straighten out ?

You gotta be kidding me!! So now we have 3 brand new f**ked up tophats!

Is this is the shit we can expect when ordering a tank or valve? This is shocking to say the least. These tophats have CHINA written all over them. What happened to Air Force? Trying to save a dollar here or there will cost them BIG!!

FairlyInc.. Where did you get your Condor from? Please list the vendor if you get a messed up one. I would call Air Force Monday and send your pic to them. Demand a brand new tank and that it be inspected properly. Tell them there are very unhappy people on the Talon/Condor forums with this crap that is coming from them.. or from China(?)! Make sure they will pick up your old tank at no cost, but that shouldn’t be a problem. They are usually pretty good about that.

Well that is 2 Condors and 1 tank they probably broke even on, with shipping both ways and someone to process the old and ship the new.. I am very pissed right now because I have been recommending Condors to people for years, and just got someone to order one yesterday. I hope they don’t get the same crap of a tophat.

Well Air Force had a good run until they decided to let the accountants make the decisions, and the owners got more greedy. It was good while it lasted. Maybe it’s time for me to move to or obsess over FX, Daystate, or some other expensive BB gun.. I knew I had to move on, or “upgrade” sometime, and Air Force just gave me the push I was looking for.

This is so fucked.

I bought one from them last week. So I had to check it out.

It slightly less buggered than yours, but still looks like a soiled Congressional Page that spent a drunken night with the honorable Representative Barney Frank and has a hard time sitting down this morning.

I am totaly underwhelmed.

This is mine:

I’ll send them an email and report back.

2 of bad tophats now? Great.. That tells me they have switched to another vendor for the tophats to save $ or tworse, they are now made offshore? 😯

For what ever reason that those, now two are messed up like that, they are deffinately not supposed to be that way.

That is not a optical illusion pretaining to the angle you are viewing the threads from, someone did not do their job on quaility control, or two or more were dropped on concrete on their valves.

AirForce owes you a new tank, and they sound like they are making good on it.

Roachcreek

I sent a picture to AirForce. They said we will send you a new tank and pay for the return shipping of the old tank. And they did. Can’t beat that.

Hey airgunner, I just took a look at my as of yet unused condor tank and I have the same thing going on with mine.

Would you say its worth going through the process to get it swapped out?

A top hat like that would probably chew up the breech o-ring.
I have bought a couple extra from AF and never got junk like that.
Others must not have looked close at the photo you posted. 😯

That looks like a reputable business with a big selection. The Condor CO2 was his high end rifle, presently out of stock. I hope he checks his next shipment to make sure his supplier isn’t slipping in rejects.

AF took good care of you, as they should ❗

Now that you have an AF rifle you’re in for a lot of fun shooting, adjusting, modifying, etc. etc. etc. I suspect that is why you finally bit the bullet 😉
Good luck and straight shootin to ya.

New.

AirGunner1,
Was that bought new ❓
Where exactly did you get it ❓

One more post like this and I will be convinced that AF is making the parts or the entire gun in China. They either changed 3d party manufacturers/vendors, are making them off-shore, or they no longer have any QC to speak of, to send a new gun out like that. It even looks used to me, or more like someone tried to repair a tophat and messed it up. I hope they are not putting new guns together from returned or damaged parts..

They are more concerned with making more colors and hand dipped patterns, instead of improving their guns (like trigger safety or trigger), and the quality.
