One powder burners view of air rifles…What do you think?

Seems to me that this airgun revolution has given licence to loads of folks just going out and killing or injuring WAY too many animals….where is the respect for your quarry??? Practice and proper medium, whether it’s an airrifle or a bow is how we show our respect for our game animals and/or pests …It’s disrespectful to the max to just shoot something to get your little rocks off. AND a thousand times worse if you post pictures and/or videos for the masses to see. There are far to many mediocre minded people that will try to follow in your stupid footsteps…
I can’t find the full video, but The dog one it’s the 1st part I think where the hog is behind the bush, anyway a father and his kid take the hog and its big probably not 500 though maybe 250lb.
I think that guy was right on the money. I shot a friend’s SOCOM Extreme while he was busy with my Condor. The Gamo couldn’t hold a group at 25 yards and the trigger was the worst I’d ever felt. It was a horrible gun and I will never buy a Gamo after trying that one. So glad I have a REAL Airgun….. 😀
I think it was a 200 pounder, was it the one trapped by the dogs?
Did you see that video Gamo capped that 500 lb. hog at like 8 yards right between the eyes and it dropped like a rock pretty impressive, but I did not think it was the smartest thing to do.
your right. I just felt you should clarify what you were saying. So what you meant was NOT IN AN AIR RIFLE
That bullet does not even compare to an air pellet, due to the shock the bullet causes at the much higher velocity. I don’t think I could compare my Shin Sung 9mm with a M16 round, let’s be serious 200fps makes a large difference in killing power and you are talking about a 1000fps?
what about 17HMR ?
.177 is too small for medium size game, if you were really good and always made headshots you could get away with alot of game though, and impress people, but I loath Gamo, shooting that 500 lb. hog with PBA ammo and bragging about it, sheer nonsense.
Pabs, sure that’s “your” opinion, like I said “I think”, and last time I checked what I think is what I think and it’s pretty much what I think and can’t be wrong because it’s what “I” think… 😀
I know other people think it’s great and it’s popular as hell but so is Justin Beiber and lots of people think his “music” is the best, I don’t think so something tells me you don’t either, does that mean what we think is wrong…? Nope…
Jerry, how about a 2×12? 😆 Shit, a 43grain subsonic 22lr or 22ag round would pretty much do the same thing… A 63 grain slug would out perform a 43gr 22lr round no problem. I got to shoot some of The Slugs in 25 and it was one of the best ag high power experiences I have ever had. 😉
Stick, sure enough and that’s the problem with the writer’s whole decision to test the Gamo, the hyped velocity and he even states the light pellet doesn’t carry any energy into the test medium. So for $100 he claims it would be worth it and I totally agree with him, he was hooked in by the hype, but i’m sure he didn’t have to pay for the rifle or the review would have been a bit more damning… I still believe he would have had a totally different opinion of airguns in general if he had tested a Talon in 22.

They are selling “FPS” thats all, just like the compound and crossbow people….more speed with lighter pellets/arrows…but what happens on impact when all that velocity is shed…right…there is nothing left
It’s hard to tell, at 50 yards most Surefire slugs just pass on through…

It’s a great calibre (<that’s the correct spelling of calibre Chaps!) for rabbiting. And as it turned out, not bad on small deer as well… 😉 😆

No offense from his review, it was actually refreshing to read a somewhat real Gamo review, I was just a little taken a back with his “might as well go out and buy a 22LR” statement regarding air guns in general. Also from his lack of understanding regarding shooting pellets over the speed of sound. It would be as if I was a air gunner doing a pb review and basically stating that a 223 is way over powered and would not be accurate at 100 yards because of the supersonic velocity… But Gamo is making people stupid with their 1600fps bullshit so I can see why and how he was misled…
But I think this sums it up perfectly…

I think he would be a bit more impressed with a higher power air rifle. I can actually relate to where he is coming from. When I got back into air rifles I didn’t think there was enough power available for a 22 or 25 caliber pellet. That is simply no longer the case with HPA and modern technology…
I actually think a 25 cal Surefire slug would out penetrate a subsonic 22LR round at 50 yards in a 2×6… 😀
I’d love to be there to see the look on his face when it did too. A Talondor with a 24″ 25cal barrel is very, very impressive and in my opinion of having that and a USST Ruger 1022 the 25 air rifle is a better bang for the buck by far. I think 22LR is one of the worst rifle rounds even invented…

It was a 250lb er . I have the Hunter extreme with the ‘TUNA’ trigger on it and some other tweaks done once it was fully tuned – That trigger makes a world of difference
