Mad Dog vs. Wokgard?
Anyone used both? I have a Wokgard on my Condor with a Hogue grip and its my favorite upgrade (Along with Tony’s shroud). I picked up another Talon SS here locally last night and am considering the Mad Dog before I commit to another Wokgard. After shooting with the Wokgard, I just can’t stand the stock grip since it feels so cheap and uncomfortable.

I need to get a lighter weight scope. That Leapers 3-12 is a HOSS.

one of the things i like best is the lightweight of the airforce guns and i’m picky about the things i add to my guns. i didn’t realize how picky i am until i bought a maddog stock and promptly removed it when i found that extra 1.5 lbs wasn’t worth it (to me).
(i have a left-handed stock, like new, if anyone’s interested.)
I weighed my .22 cal Talon SS with tank filled to 2600psi, Leapers 3-12 Swat Scope, Scope Mounts, 4″ moderator, stock trigger guard, safety removed, it weighs in at 7# 13oz
So if I add a Madog stock would add 1# 7oz (does stock trigger guard come off or does it just drop into MD stock?) That would bring the weight up to 9# 4oz.
That not quite what my Marauder weighed with scope and everything attached but getting within a pound or two. Starts getting less of a grab and go kinda of rifle.
Are you saying that accuracy is improved…how much so? Is it enough to consistently measure. Would it be even greater for a .25 cal vs. .22 cal?
Also, anyone have the weight of a Talon SS or Condor with a 12″ or 14″ barrel with a Madog Stock configuration?

No the flair at the end of the maddog pistol grip, it just offends my tastes.

you mean the stud in the frame?
I am no machinist so I do not know if this is doable, but my ideal stock would be a WOK with a bolt on hanger that extends in front to include a free floating forearm hanger.
If there was a way to then extend it to the rear to include a butplate on a angled bottle adapter, all out of aluminum and ridgid, the desired result would be a frame that is not affected by forearm or bottle pressure.
And yes the Maddog stock is heavier and the asectics are no where close to the WokGuard, but it is much more stable.
I keep looking at that useless knob on the end of the pistol grip and wondering how to reshape it and refinish it.

They don’t add much. I think I was told 1.7lbs. and ways we are not talking Marauder weight 😯 the thing feels great and is easier to wield than a standard AF rifle configuration. IMHO
I was trying to determine how much weight the short MD stock would add to the weight of the rifle. I’m trying to keep it light as possible. This is why I bought a Wokguard15 and Wokbutt.
I sold both my Marauders because they were too heavy. Looked like it would have added a pound and a half over the Wokguard/wokgaurd combo? This might not be correct but I thought I saw the short MD stock weighs in at a 1# 10oz.
I have and appreciate them both.. The Wokguard for being light on my SS with an AR grip is great and I love the short Maddog stock on my AAA .25 for the flex control and the improved ergonomics… He should make those stocks in laminated woods as well(Hint hint)!!
Just ask yourself
“Do I want to use an AR 15 grip and have a better trigger guard on my AF rifle?”
If you answer “Yes” then get the WokGard 15 and it only adds a few ounces to the rifle
If you answer “No” then you can put on a wood stock or leave it as is.
The one of the nice things about these guns is you can make it exactly what you want

They are finished wood but look synthetic….

what are the MD stocks constructed of? are they full composite, of finished wood, or something else?
