Q:

Talon P as a carbine

m’kay… I know what you guys think of the TalonP as a pistol. I don’t disagree. I don’t compete, pistols or otherwise, so I can’t think of a scenario where I’d want a pistol and I wouldn’t use one of my sidearms. However, I can think of (create?) a few reasons that I would like a .25 cal carbine. Beside that I know you guys are dying to talk more about the Talon P.

I have my .22 TTT, now a carbine. Perfect for starlings to crows, and tree rats, one shot, no need for follow up. For larger, more wearable pests (think hats) I’d rather have a bit more FPE just in case an ounce of “humane” sneaks up on me or I wing my target on accident (I make no claims to greatness).

My TTT is probably capable of pushing lethal .25s but is not optimized for such having been birthed at .22. So switching barrels and getting re-pimped by the master is time and expense that needs to be considered. This has lead me to the idea of adding a Talon P to the safe. To suit my needs it would/could amount to somewhere around $800 and look something like this:

I recall seeing a question once posted about cutting that trailing edge off of the scope rail but don’t recall the responses, if any, nor can I find it in my searches. Other than scope eye relief considerations is there any other reason that this is a bad idea? I don’t see anyone else doing it so I assume there must be a reason. Frame stiffness?

TIA

oh sweet! Thx for the update!

Not yet. I think Adam is doing a full production run of strap ons, trigger guards, etc. which I’m sure takes a healthy bit of time. I promise I’ll post up a.s.a.p.

It just passed through the USPS sorting facility in Federal Way, Wa.

Maybe you will get it today or Monday πŸ˜€

Can’t wait for my Wok parts and a slightly longer Subssonic shroud. Before you scoff at the obviously fake mag- it is an airsoft storage/dress up component. Took a little modification but it’s solid as a rock now. It has internal brackets for allen keys, etc and the magazine actually slides out leaving the mag well mounted. I may cut out the brackets and put in some closed cell foam pellet holders. anyhoo… I giggle every time I pick it up. You can read about me in the papers when the local SWAT team snipes me for whacking tree rats. Still have plenty to do to this thing but it’s fun as hell to play with.

Did your WOK parts arrived? Any pics? I canΒ΄t wait to see results…

This did not start life as a Talon P but it is a Talondor I made up of left over parts and a used frame I got off the FS section here. Made with mostly Condor AF parts and Airarcher valve spring and retainer and derlin seat, the rest is AF.

The barrel I got used from Tagdagger, with Kings it makes 40 FPE and you can see the groups. OAL is 34.75″

Tophat is .075, PW is at 8 and fill at 2500 PSI. Starts at 815FPS goes up to 870FPS and back down to 815FPS, so maybe needs more preload, but the proof is in the groups.

The scope is a Burris 2×7 with the Ballisticplex reticle, it is paralax free at 100 yards according to Burris, but checking for paralax error against the laser at 36 yards shows no movement of the reticle on target.

He’s working on it.

Did WOK make that sholder rest?

i usually am… 😎 πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

post some numbers for us when you break her in… πŸ˜‰

You may be right Moneyshot. πŸ˜†

just get you a hi flo tank on it, vent the delrin if you like, makes a TON more sense than tryin to make a shoulder piece for that tiny tank…

My Talon P arrived via FedEx today. I ran about 10 dry patches through it before I got to where the barrel is acceptable. Dabbed some diver’s silicone on the proper spots. Have to wait for my scope and rings (and daylight) to arrive before sighting it in.

I did run a EunJin 35.8 through it because I wanted to hear the report. The pellet was super tight in the breech and holey shirt that thing cracks! I’m thinking the idea of an air stripper on the end of the barrel is NSFH usage on a regular basis. I know it hasn’t been vented at all yet but dang! I think I’ll sight this thing in at the range and use my big moderator on it until I can get the bushings and frame done proper.

The tank is tiny. Even with my short arms I can’t comfortably shoulder it without feeling like I’m snuggling with it. Got a Wok butt on order but am going to have to figure out something because it needs a good 3-4″ more before it’s even close to comfortable. It’s too bad they didn’t just make the tank that much longer to add comfort and air volume.

Can’t wait until my scope arrives.
