Ed I like your way of thinking. If I can’t have one today may I have one tomorrow? Throw us a bone Ed, its been to long without a mag.

You forgot to add another option:
Manually reloaded magazine EDgun but with the button at the grip.
Means it should work like biathlon gun — you reload the gun with the same hand as you fire, the only thing I am thinking over now — to make it reloading by pushing the button not to built a system of levers 🙂 Looks interesting, drawing… If it works the reloading will be manual but can reach the speed of semi-auto with the advantage over semi-auto, you put the new pellet to the gun when you want but not immediately after the previous shoot.

Hunting showshoe hares is a big part of my winter. You NEED semi-auto to hunt these things. They live in aspen clearcuts and tagalder swamps. The dogs don’t let them hold still, and the first 5 shots always go zipping off branches and twigs.
I have considered buying a Revolution, but the extra length is what is holding me back (like I said, we are in the thick). For now, I will get by with a .22 pistol. But, I look forward to the day when it doesn’t sound like a string of blackcats are lighted every time I get a line on a bunny. Plus, I want the extra range.
Semi-Auto on the Edgun would make me a happy hunter.
I feel the same way. While both the bolt action repeater and semi-auto kits sound interesting from a technical perspective I wouldn’t have much use for either when I’m using the rifle as I normally do (pest control & hunting); I typically don’t need more than a single shot and if I do miss whatever I’m shooting at is already trying to get away as fast as possible.
Will I still buy either a mag-fed kit or semi kit for the .22 and .25 R3’s I have on order? Most likely I’d buy mag kits and *maybe* semi kits… but I’m very happy with the current single-loading configuration.
The only air gun with a mag that I have is a FX Royalle in 22 cal. I have 3 mags for it and the 36 shots from them is OK but, then you have to reload them. THAT is a big hassle if out in the field. With a mag, if I want to decock the gun (settle down HOOT, decocking a gun has nothing to do with sex you: pervert! 😯 ) the mag has to be removed before pulling the trigger and easing the bolt forward.
I think that the Royalle shoots better 100 yard groups when using a single shot pellet tray.
I like to use the pellet holders that I made for the Matador. One holds 48 shots and the other holds 60. Using the pellet holder only takes a couple extra seconds for each shot. I very seldom/ever need a quick follow up shot. If there is a group of birds sitting, the impact of a pellet sends the rest flying. The rare miss sends them off also. 😳
If Ed comes out with mags for the R3, I would order one each for the 22 and 25. I don’t know if I would use them but, I would have to buy a couple anyhow!
I voted for a new R3 bolt action single shot.

As a competition shooter I prefer single shot. I don’t think you get the accuracy with the magazine that you get with single shot.
I don’t trust anything else then my fingers to place to pellet always correct and slide the bold back so the pellets enters with no faulty pressure or angle into the breech.
As I would not shoot competition with the edgun and had it for plinking and hunting, a mag would be very good, but not a full auto. Too easy to take a non wanted shot in your excitement.
I’m for the semi-auto kit for my R3. I also did check with Ed yesterday and he said he doesn’t have any of the magazine or sem-auto kits available and is not sure when they will be available.

Why not just a multi shot conversion kit? As others have said, I don’t really need the semi auto, just the ability to reload quickly w/o having to mess around with individual pellets.
The single shot and semi both have their places. I love my Monsoon, it has been accurate, reliable and a lot of fun. What more can you ask for. Well I am asking for a Edgun semi in .25.

well as a “kit” I would anticipate it running close to a grand, who knows…perhaps more and that won’t make me hesitate a second
the other question is mags
will the be proprietary to the Edgun and of course cost
the only downside I see to a semi auto Edgun is one will probably experience accelerated probe O ring replacement due to the much faster and violent cycle

As my luck would have it, they are both “uppers”, so I have to chew carefully.

That’s an excellent option for the shooter. A button push to reload would be a nice upgrade feature, and surely less expensive than going semi-auto.
It’s the next step between manually indexed magazine by finger, and semi-auto. It works for me.
However, a retro-fit kit is necessary for most of us with existing Edguns.
Unless it is extremely complicated, most of us could probably retro fit such a system into the older Edguns, unless it involves milling, then a bolt-on (semi-auto) kit might be our only option.
