BSA barrel ammo…
does anybody own a .25 cal bsa barrel on an AF rifle? if so, im sure it may, or may not, have slight differences in pellet preference.
i just recieved my long awaited care package from his holiness(drum), and am going to place a pellet order very soon here, and would like to make an educated purchase.
i wish i had a camera, these things look even BETTER than i had seen and expected. 😯 😯 😀 😀

its as tight as a typical BSA, but all but the most stubborn pellets i can fully load.
once i get some surefires, however, hopefully drum has his idea worked out for my thumbs sake…
Seems like drum needs to man up a little, However he is only looking after the customer and himself
If having a pellet seater works for you then that’s cool
You can always do the breech lead in later by yourself if you find it’s needed

drum didnt want to risk the integrity of the breech end bore, but offered to collaborate with me to make an adjustable pellet loader, and fab it FOC…thats enough for me..

If your breech lead in had been done correctly then they are absolutely fine.
A couple of months later I get an email from him stating that he had BSA barrels back in stock. I asked him if BSA got some new mandrels and if the bore was .243” again. He said that they were still .250” but, they shoot fine.
I am confused, he says that the smaller bore is better, the bigger bore is better?
Please keep us posted on how the BSA barrel does. I might have to order a couple more.
im shootin h-n fts, jsb exact king,baracudas , all 4 do very well at 20, well see how they do at 50 in spring. skenco UM are equally 1 holers, but 2 inches low.
in .25(.243), bsa barrels are absolute thumb killers.

Just received my BSA 24″ .177 barrel a few days ago. Got it for £66 inc shipping meaning $100 for you yanks
It’s still got the packing grease in the barrel so I can’t inspect the bore, and I’m at university at the moment so I have no way of cleaning it.
I had a .25 BSA barrel before and that thing was scary accurate 🙂

Jerry is right, if the mandrels wore out, then it would produce a tighter bore.
I ordered a .177 BSA barrel yesterday, ill take a good look over it when I get it

I ordered a 100 six ring 62gr slugs, and I was advised to go with .252 OD. for my .25 caliber LW barrel. I did, and they fit very tight indeed.
The answer for the BSA barrels may lie in finding the right OD of the pellet you want to shoot, and buy pellets accordingly.
I don’t see how the size of the bore, in thousandths of an inch, could change the overall accuracy of the barrel. Somewhere, someone has a misperception of what’s going on with BSA barrels, BSA, and GAMO.
Sounds like something someone heard from someone, who heard it from someone else, who got it from a friend, who stumbled upon it from a reliable source.

I must be missing something. BSA takes a tapered rod (mandrel) sticks it inside a tube and hammers the living shit out of it until the inside of the tube matches the shape of the outside of the mandrel. How exactly does the mandrel wear out and get bigger?
i have a .25 caliber bsa lightning and this barrel is picky with a capital p. its still on the spring gun, but most pellets are a tight fit. it only shoots kings 25.4 exacts. i can send you some variuos pellets , just send me a pm and they r on the way. denny 😀

haha, yeah when I used some 6 rings, I could seat it until the last ring, then I just used a coin againts my thumb to press it in the rest of the way
