Q:

Springers or gas ram

I know I should probably post this on another forum but I have always trusted all of your opinions and expertise.

I sold my condor a few months back because I didnt have time to tinker with it anymore. It was a monster well at least in my eyes.

Okay on to my question I am thinking of buying a gasram rifle.

Do you all have any experience with them good or bad? If so what one would you recommend. I would like to get a .22 cal with over 20 fpe if that is realistic. Actually would like one in the 30 fpe range but I am guessing that is out of range for a gas ram.

Thanks for your opinions.

so i ended buying a Remington NPSS Digital Camo (.22) used for a good deal of yellow the other day. Hopefully it will be fun to shoot.

i used to shoot springers as a kid,i have tryed the gas spring they are way better then the spring recoils..I now have a small arsenal of PCP guns onces you go that route you wont go back, damn springers never stay sighted in,i had a very nice RWS model 48 for years, got tired of resighting after 15-30 shots,i had all the best mounts etc, still would drift off..

My oldest, most reliable pellet gun is an RWS 48 .22. I can’t tell you how many rodents and feral…”rats” I’ve wasted with it. It is not as accurate as an expensive pcp, like a Royale or Air arms. But, I’ve hunted with it for over 16 years with zero problem, even left it compressed for days by accident or effect. It’s heavy and you need to practice your hold to absorb recoil. Plus, you need a scope designed for double recoil. Locktite scope mounts and make pencil marks on the tube to let you know if there’s scope creep.

Even though I’ve got an arsenal developing of pcps, I’m keeping the RWS 48. Do not use a sandbag, use your hands to cradle it. It’ll shoot premiers, silver bears and meisterkugelns. While you might be able to shoot heavier pellets, these group well and hit hard.

With ANY springer, you’ll need to practice a lot, especially pulling the gun into your shoulder as an indication of recoil, to make sure it moves directly into your brace, without angling. Most of the varmints I’ve hunted were in the 30-40 yard range, but some were at 50yds. Beyond that, seek a pcp.

Again, if you want maximum accuracy, go pcp. But, the real-deal RWS 48, made in Germany, is a fine weapon, sturdy, deadly and reliable.

PCP for rifles and single stroke pneumatic for my pistol. I will never go spring again.

To be fun, airguns should be easy to shoot, springers are NOT….. I grew up with multi-pump pneumatics, then graduated to an RWS springer. Finally got into PCPs when I returned to airgunning as an adult. I will NEVER go back to a springer, EVER….. Did I say EVER?, I meant NEVER EVER. My 2 cents.

With my sterided scoped and bipoded 392 i could hit the bottom of pop cans at 70 yards with muzzle fpe of 25. With the brass Barrel

if mac will still do one, thatll be my birthday gift…

YEAH!
forgot about that. a pump pneumatic with respectable hunting power beats a springer in my book.

id have to put my own barrel on, however.

not a big fan of brass barrels(well, the CONCEPT, ive never actually owned one…)

New guy here and I have give some feedback on this. I have a Titan GP also and it is awesome right out of the box. I have love this gun and I bought a second one for my son so we now have 2 and they shoot great groups with the crosman Premier pellets and we just got some Polymags for them and they are shooting perfect to and we think with more FPS than the Premiers although we do not have a chrono to back that up. But the Titan Nitro guns are awesome.

Look into the npss guns or even a crosman. Npxl1100 i had a few xls and they take practice but they can shoot well and being gas ram makes it less likely to wear out. I have hit pop cans at 80 yards with my XLs also dont worry about power if ya cant hit anything with it. Again the benji disco comes with pump and gun for 300 most decent springers will be damn close to that price

I had a Benjamin NP XL 750 (25 caliber), modded. 30+ FPE
Don’t bother unless you think that all 3 of these are of the utmost importance:
1. Need to have a self contained airgun.
2. Live where you always wear the same clothing.
3. Seriously want to dedicate a lot of time to technique.

Don’t even look at 3. if you don’t have 2., because your hold will vary at the shoulder and there goes your “artillery hold”, down the tubes.

Oh – almost forgot the biggest one.
4. Be willing to take 20 shots before hitting the bulls eye repeatly.
