Q:

Direct-Flo Valve

I have some questions about the new TalonP valve but first let me say hi to everyone as this is my first post.

I just got off the phone with AirForce and they couldn’t or wouldn’t answer my question so it’s up to you guys to come up with an answer. I understand the new Direct-Flo valve will not fit the larger Talon and Condor tanks. The only AirForce gun I own is the TalonP so I have nothing to compare but I assume the threads on the Direct-Flo valve are different than the threads on the Talon and Condor valves. The small 213cc TalonP tank appears to be the same as a 13ci paintball tank. Could it be? If so would the TalonP valve fit any paintball tank, especially the 17ci (280cc) RAP4 tank?

I asked AirForce that question and they said maybe, you’ll just have to try it.

I also asked about the new Spin-Loc system since no instructions for it’s use was included with my TalonP and they said the instructions are almost ready. They offered to mail a copy of the instructions plus one of the wrenches needed to use the Spin-Loc system. So I’ll be checking my mailbox.

Anyway, I hope to figure out this tank mounting business because I very much want to use a 17ci paintball tank with my TalonP. The longer tank will give me a much better LOP but still look good on the TalonP. Not to mention giving me a couple more full power shots.

I did think of using an ETaC for the tank but the new valve won’t fit in the ETaC either.

well i just ordered the valve removal tool.Hopefully it will be here by this weekend. I am planning on taking the valve out of the co2 adapter and install it on the talonss tank. should be interesting to say the least.

Glad to be of help.

1dollardean thank you. I needed that I am 100% clear on that now.

I like the fact that the paintball tanks are cheaper. My question is when you take the valve out of the talon tank are you removing the black callar on the outside or are you removing the brass insert itself?

When you remove the valve you turn the collar and unscrew the entire valve assembly from the tank. I think it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway, be sure the tank is empty before removing the valve.

Here’s a picture of the valve assembly:

The easiest way to remove the valve is with a valve removal tool like the one pictured below:

I bought my tool from Jim Gaska at Marmot Militia for $15.00.

One advantage to using paintball tanks on the TalonP is you have a choice of 13ci, 17ci or 22ci tanks. All three tanks have a 2″ diameter so standard paintball buttstocks can be used.

Have fun with your TalonP.

Direct flow sounds like a good valve, maybe the way to go new tank and vavle lots of powerful shots for a 24 in. Condor, and better sight ins.

Exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you!!

How many with the stock tank ?

I didn’t test mine enough to say for sure but I did get about 20 good shots shooting JSB Kings on a power setting of 8. At full power with heavy Eun Jin pellets I would get about 7 good shots. That’s 7 shots at over 50fpe on a small 213cc tank. Not bad for such a small gun.

Sorry my bad,

How many with the stock tank ?

How many good shots do u get out of it ?

I don’t know about the 17ci yet. I’ll know next month when I do a full series of chrony tests. The stock tank is a 13ci tank equal to 213cc, the 17ci tank is equal to 278cc and the 22ci tank is equal to 360cc. That should give you some idea of the relative sizes.

Hi Drumie. I’m having fun with my TalonP too. I thought about using a 22ci tank but decided on a 17ci with an M4 style adjustable buttstock. The tank and buttstock come as a kit from RAP4. I’ll be ordering the kit next month.

This month I ordered an R&L shorty shroud for my TalonP. I like the look of the shorty shroud a lot. It’ll look great with the M4 style buttstock. And it’s quieted things down enough to let me shoot my TalonP in my garage without waking up the dead. It’s still loud but not enough to bother my understanding neighbors. The stock TalonP was VERY loud!

I’ll post some pics when I get the new tank and buttstock.

Hey guys, long time reader here but just regesterd. I just got a TalonP a little over a month ago, but I have had a Condor for over 6 years now.
I really love the TalonP, but I was also thinking of a bigger tank for mine. I got a 22cu paintball tank. The TalonP valve screws right into it. I filled it up, mounted my AirForce stock on it and gave it a go. Right away I noticed that the gun shouldered much better with the longer tank. You can still use low mounts on the gun with this tank. As for shot cout, I was able to increase mine from 23 to about 40 shots for what I am using this gun for. That is a pretty good increase in my opinon. Also as you would expect you increase the shot count mostly in the sweet spot on the gun so that really heps out.

Nice find Dollar!!!!

Thanks. I just had a hunch that the 13ci tank was a standard paintball tank. Now that I know for sure I plan to use a 17ci or 22ci tank to increase the shot count and to lengthen the LOP while still keeping the 2″ tank diameter. I can also select from several tank covers and butt stocks available from paintball shops that fit the 2″ diameter tanks.

I discovered something else too, never shoot a TalonP indoors with the power wheel maxed out and loaded with a heavy Eun Jin pellet! I have a 25′ range in my garage where I have a chrony set up to test my airguns. It is not sound proof but I have very understanding neighbors. I’ve tested my .22cal Sumatra 2500 Carbine, .22cal Disco, and .177cal Gamo Big Cat 1250 in my garage but I won’t be testing the TalonP until I receive a package from R&L that I’ll be ordering soon to help quiet things down a bit.

I did get off one shot with my TalonP but unfortunately I think I got a bogus reading on my chrony. That 35 grain Eun Jin registered 922fps. If that was accurate then I would have a very hot TalonP indeed! So I need to do a full set of tests as soon as my package arrives and find out what my TalonP is really capable of. I have 8 different .25cal pellets to test it with from the 20gr H&N Field Target to the 43gr Eun Jin. I even have some Beeman 23.6gr Round Ball that I’ve been saving for a special occasion.

I’ll post pics of my TalonP when I get the new tank, butt stock, etc.

Nice find Dollar!!!!
