I will start another topic when I get the gun Thursday. The weather forecast is for 2-3 mph winds and if they have it right, I will take the day off and shoot the R3 22 and 25 longs back to back.
I donโt know if I will get a useful comparison as I am finally getting the 25 cal BSA barrel fitted to the R3 25 long. I had it out last Sunday trying to shoot it, at 100 yards in 10-12 mph, swirling winds. I think that it is going to be a shooter, I got a few good groups. I had one 3 shot group that were in a tight cluster and I thought that I should quit right there. I guess I should have, the wind blew the 4th shot about 1 ยฝโ to the left. I waited for the wind to die down and the 5th shot opened the 3 shot cluster up to .463โ.
After spending the day shooting the 22, I plan on taking the breech/barrel/shroud assembly off of it and using it to shoot 22 cal bullets on the R3 25 longโs action. The barrel less 22 will probably spend most of itโs time in my gun safe, unless it turns out to be a real shooter, that is! I will use the 25 cal for the bullet testing as itโs regulator is set higher than the 22โs. If the swaged slugs work out, I will set the 22 up to shoot them and keep the BSA barrel on the 25.
What I have so far: the BSA barrel in on top, then the 2 LW fitted barrels and last the .224 swaging die.

I have some 22 cal swaged bullets, a .224 swaging die and the 2 fitted LW non choked 22 and 25 cal barrel on hand. The swaging press and all of the needed stuff should be here in a few days and I have a .257โ die coming in also. I am really waiting for 2 custom made, to my specs, Hart barrels. One is .224 and the other is .257.
Roackcreek has been some very good results shooting cast bullets out of his 25 cal Condor. For a couple of years now, I have wanted to try shooting cast/swaged bullets out of my Matadors and everybody told me that it couldnโt be done. I am going to find out.
I don’t plan on any more highjacking of this topic. I will start a new one tomorrow or Friday.
X2 on seeing Oldgoat’s assessment on the EDgun R3 .25 Long. I was wondering if the optimal pellet spped is the same for .22 vs. .25. Odgoat has his set for 890 range and I see others at highr speeds as mentioned above in the post by Kazzz who has very good accuracy.
Kazz, all Edguns are accurate but yours might be special? No doubt you
are an excellent marksman.Would be curious how a new R3 would
compare (especially a long)
Another Edgun for sale on Yellow this am. R2.5 for $2750
Oldgoat, really looking forward to a review of your new .22 long
especially accuracy and shots.Congrats and good luck
Good for you, Ted! Will have another one for your work ๐
Good one Ted!! It is and stays “material” and everything is replaceable.. ๐
When I have a new R3 or.. I will sell my R2.5 also.. I think.. I was sure.. I guess.. I..
I don’t know.. ๐ฎ
Yesterday the groups were fenomenal again.. At 100m (109 yards) almost every 5 shot group within 1″ and some 10 shot groups even in the 1″.
Then I chronied the gun again, and.. my F1 can do 32 shots and then I have to reset, well.. The 32 shots landed in 1 big hole of 1.9″.
I made 44 shots with my R2.5 short all within 4 FPS MAX difference! (Between 944 and 940fps)..
So will I sell it??? I don’t know.. I don’t want to but.. I’m building my house too so. .I think I will have too ๐
It will be a sad day.. a very sad day ๐

Looks like Ted will be getting a new Edgun from Ed.He certainly deserves it !! I know he posted he was expecting a new R3 in March but looks like he hasn`t rec. e-mail so how can I feel bad.I must have got one of the
last 2.5`s last Aug. I was hoping for a R3 especially after seeing the
walnut stocks.I ordered a long .22 2/4 hoping to use it at Holbrook
Sprtsmans which is right up the street from me where Dan Brown,Todd Banks and the other Eastern BR guys shoot once a month.
Patience is a virtue?I think waiting for your 2nd gun is harder because
you really know how nice they are. ๐
regards,mark
My R3 22 long will be here “Thursday by the end of the day”.
Yeah right; I will out stalking the UPS guy at 10:00 AM, as soon as he hits town! ๐
Fuck, all this from me just asking Mark not to email Tony (even though he does have a damn good reason). ๐ Mark, I feel for you dude. So sorry for kicking the hornet’s nest. ๐
To the best of my knowledge, It has not been shipped yet, Heck I just paid the bill today..
Me to, sorry Mark..I read some posts and made a few assumptions, taking your $2400 example and came to the wrong conclusion.
I apologize for my posts..The beer was a factor
Supercharge? Im assuming around 10k or more?
Go for it ted!
Good for you, Ted! Will have another one for your work ๐
What have you been up to Ted? Still waiting on the Ballistol, cleaning vid.
Maybe I should send you my 2.5 to sell lol.I guess you didn`t rec the
coveted E-mail yet either.I opted for the long .22
regards,mark
Ed should give you the latest version at 1/2 price! You had to have helped sell the Edgun with all your videos and advise. ๐

Never said it’s special.. ๐ I just like it that much!! It’s much harder to get good consistent groups then with like an AA or BSA (they spit the groups out with ease.., but.. when you work hard, they are there. And every time they are there and even tighter then almost any other gun. I know if the groups aren’t there, it’s my fail! That’s what I want in a gun and because chrony results stayed the same over the months, this is really for me a unique piece!
That’s why if I buy a new gun, I don’t want to sell it. But since I’m not a millionaire, I think I have to.
