Q:

TalonSS CO2 to Low Pressure Air with CO@ adaptor and Scuba T

OK folks, I recently purchased a TalonSS 12” in .177 with CO2. I have 4 tanks that have the 3k burst disk. On a good hot day around here, say 80 to 90 degrees I shoot a 8.34 JSB .177 pellet around 730 to 750 FPS. Trouble is as nighttime approaches the temps drop to 60 or 70 degrees and the velocity drops significantly. Yea I know, it’s the nature of the beast. What I am looking for is a consistent 10 to12 FPE. That means 8.34 grains near 750 FPS. I have read a few hundred posts and being new only understood 10%. My question is this.
If I buy an 80 c. ft. scuba tank and fill it to 3000 psi can I then empty my co2 tanks, fill them to say 1800 psi, use the co2 adaptor that came with it and get 40 to 50 shots in the range I described. Yea I have read Hoots threads and others. What I need is pointed in the right direction and a list of what I actually need. Anyone willing to help me get to where I want to be, which is HPA / LPA in the 750+ FPS range with an 8.34 pellet and as many shots as possible. Is it possible or have I misread a lot of posts!!

Sorry, I was out for a few days. I have one setup with a 1600PSI regulated 13 CU IN HPA bottle I purchased from Expert HPA. It will sling a 22 cal 15.9gr JSB around 850 FPS for around 30-40 shots before I need to fill it back above the regulator. That is connected to my CO2 adapter, only trick is attach the bottle before you fill it to prevent leaks due to not fully seating the bottle on the adapter and completely engaging the o-ring.

I also have a huge amount of fun with a good old paintball tank which is still at it’s factory 850 PSI setting, and it will provide somewhere in the 80-90 shots per fill range. The best part is since these are regulated, the rifle shoots plenty of pellets into stacks. I have some 25 yard groups that are 3/8ths of an inch and maybe smaller. Dime size sometimes looks large when shooting a regged HPA Airforce gun.

I use the co2 adapter with the hpa paintball tank and fill through the co2 adapter. Just fill slowly. you will still have the 850 regulated air with lots of shots. I haven’t had a problem with critters leaving. Yesterday I head shot a crow at 30yd and ancored him. hope this helps. I would keep the talon because of the accuracy and all you can dowith it. I am adding an 18″ barrel so I can get more fpe with the same charge at longer ranges. Gene

How much is the total cost for a paintball etac setup? I have been very interested in getting this setup but Im confused by the total cost.

Hello dunk 50

you have a gun that is way more adjustable than the marauder pistol,

Back to your SS, you can make any thing you want out of this gun , Like lurk said, a battery powered sock might be a solution , i have read where paintball shooters have used this with success , try this first if you want to stay with co2 .

you could also keep a heating pad on your bottle, while sitting at the door, to keep it warm for the co2,then when you pick it up turn on your electric sock and go out side to take care of shooting needs.????

really i did not even consider co2 when i bought my condor, power level etc, and you can turn it up or down to what ever you want with the high pressure air.

it looks like you can do this if you want, run high pressure air in your paint ball tanks , i cant find and adapter to go from high pressure air to the paint ball fitting, and i cant find a for sure answer if you can fill thru your adapter that hooks to the gun or not.

but in the reading above it is said that you will get consistant warm wheather co2 performance or slightly better velocity from filling your paint ball tanks to around 1800 to 2000 psi , and shooting thru the 850 psi regualtor that comes on the co2 tank.

im not 100% as i dont have one, but i think the co2 version is made to thread on to paintball tanks, and the AF valve on the other end.

problem is that you may have a hard time getting the valve out of the adapter.

is your concern about the hpa paintball tank i mentioned about ergonomics?

if you dont wanna go that route, maybe wait for more info on the co2 etac, or
drop the coin on a standard tank from AF.

do you have a means of charging hpa?

I sent an email question about etac co2 but they are on vacation till July 5 th just what does it do, I think he also sells tanks valves etc but not sure Can I just buy etac and put it on my 12 oz tanks

well,

i suppose you could either get the etac-reg made for co2, or buy a regged hpa paintball tank for about 60-70 at a big name store, they can do 4500 psi typically.

besides just gettin a regular hpa tank for the talon/ss, me thinks thatd be the cheapest way.

someone on here may chime in with additions, but if i were lookin for the cheapest way to do reggd hpa, cheek weld be damned, id get the paintball hpa tank, and me and the guys can guide you thru the simple process of modding the co2 adapter to make the most of it.

im here for ya, bud… 😎

Money, you won’t mistake me for an expert but I am told mt Talon SS with the 12″ barrel shoots a lot slower than a condor with 18 or more. At a 98 bottle temp I could probably put up with mine but it’s never (rarely) 98 It’s low 70s Hoping to just charge my co2 tanks to around 1800 and get 30 shots or so regulated just need someone that is the expert to tell me what I need.

hell, dunk.

right now its 98 degrees here and my condor is spitting 7 RING SLUGS out the spout of a VEERRRY tight BSA barrel hard enough to blow a fistful of plaster out and flatten in front to about 1/2 inch.

i gutted some #3 shotshells and am doing some EPIC plinking…

and thats the co2, no air.

Hey Funk50,
If you don’t mind me asking, what direction are you headed?

Well I was going to go with a Benjamin marauder pistol, still might but I am going to talk with rualert and moneyshot and see what they have set up. I plink in my backyard, shoot an occasional varmint and I’m tired of them running off AFTER I shoot them I figure I need at least 10 to 15 fpe and I’m only getting 5 to 7 on a good day. It’s been in the 90 degree range around here for a while, problem is I keep the gun by the back door of my air conditioned house at 72 degrees. Enough with the co2 already SOEEEEE gents what do I need to buy to get my talon SS on air

Hey Funk50,
If you don’t mind me asking, what direction are you headed?

I too agree with Money, I have a regulated paintball tank on my CO2 adapter, and it’s very consistent. We can help, it’s not that hard.

Casey

if you wanna reconsider, i can help…pm me if you wanna give it a go, its perrty easy…

I want to thank you guys for your help, I do sincerely appreciate it. I have changed my mind and will going a different direction. Just posted the gun is the For Sale section. Again, thanks but a little to complicated for an old fart with the onset of senility etc. Dunk

that sir was a brain fart, I fixed it, subsonic shroud
