Chrony Choices
I have a F-1 chrony it works correctly less and less. Very sensitive to sun angle so I made a lamp set up to work in the garage. Still very picky, now to the point of not being able to shoot over it without constant Error 1 and error 2 codes. Re did the lamps.
Well, I took it apart and found the front lens scratched on the inside. Buffed it out with some 3-M finesse compound.
Better, at least I got 5 over it before it coded again.
When I buy another which one do you suggest? Why? Where?

Well I finaly got to shoot over the Pro Chrono Digital. I’ll have to say I did have one glitch. Yesterday was overcast and I set it up just outside the back door of the garage. Got the banch set up and sat down first shot registered but the second and third didn’t.
Crap I’m doomed.
Well in the time it took for me to set up the first sensor was shaded by the eaves. Moved it out further and shot 50 pellets without an error or no capture.

With the buttons on the unit the info is right there for you to scroll through without any add ons. I am getting the light add on so I can use it inside with the table and mount I made. I used the idea of tape over the sensor openings!
So far a great unit. Pic’s comming.
I like my Competition Electronics Pro Chrono Digital, for what it cost and as often as I use it, the thing works great.
1. toss in trash.
2. box it up and send it back. Mybe get $$ back.
3. 2 lb hand sledge.
4. take it to work and put it my HYD press and squash it flat take pic’s and then send it back as defective.
Well, if #2 works, go for it. Otherwise, it seems like a bit of target practice is in order. And then you can still do #1,3 or 4. 🙂
Congrats! 😀
It’s been well into the 100s all week and when I got home after work It’s too blasted hot in the garage till well after dark.
So I got up fairly early today and went out and did a modification to the light system and tried one last time to see if this POS would do what it should.
First pellet didn’t register. Second 908.4. Error 2. Third nope fourth nope. DONE!
Ordered a Pro Chrono Digital.
I have a few choices.
1. toss in trash.
2. box it up and send it back. Mybe get $$ back.
3. 2 lb hand sledge.
4. take it to work and put it my HYD press and squash it flat take pic’s and then send it back as defective.
ProChrono I’ve used it from 177 talon through to 22LR and 223 center fire. Great product.
Outstanding, Finch! Now, what are you going to do about your
chronograph problems? I didn’t realize just how frustrating my sc beta
was until I replaced it with the ProChrono. I rarely get the dreaded error
message. …and with the 99 shot string capacity an error here or there is
pretty much irrelevant.
It is also nice to be able to connect your ProChrono to your computer for
a larger screen and useful software. I haven’t done this as I am reluctant
to shoot around my laptop. 😉 I’d really hate to bounce one off of, or
through my computer.
I’d love to see Naciemento. 😉
My wife and I fished a WON Bass Team tournament at Bass Lake years ago. In boat # 2. A Howard is a fine boat. Always nice to have some talent running around to break up the scenery. Or vice versa. Fished most of the California lakes over the years.
My local lakes are Nacimenito and San Antonio.
Didn’t shoot over the blasted thing tonight, was over 100 here today. Much nicer at work in S.L.O.
I was at Bass Lake, CA…up by Yosemite for the 4th of July. I tried to get
a clean pic of this Howard boat, but this girl and her dog kept getting in
the way:

My boat is just a little 19′ open bow run-about, but I like it.

This is what Bass looks like the night of the 4th:

…and this…I told my kid that it was impossible to get a clear pic of
fireworks from a rocking boat!

Started with a RWS 94 .22 cal . Then a RWS 350 .22. still have these. Bought a AF SS a few months ago in .22 and a .25 barrel. Since then 18″ .25 and another modulator……………..RLvalve…………….Regulator…………….Tank……….. It doesn’t stop does it!
Still cheeper so far than the fuel system in the Allison .
“We all hate spending money twice. However, once you have been drawn to the dark side…AF guns, PCP guns, well the accronym BOAT applies; Break Out Another Thousand. ”
OMG, showed my wife and she LOL.
How did you know! 3 bass boats. One is extremely quick. 450 hp OB on an Allison. http://www.youtube.com/user/DaveBushRacing

The SC F-1 is seductive because it is the least expensive. We ask ourselves, do I really need a chronograph? Yes, we do need a chronograph…and it needs to perform well. The sc company wants you to upgrade. They hook you with a cheap model knowing that you will want more…Hmm, just like the airguns you are shooting. You will want more power, or accuracy, or perhaps a magazine fed airgun. Ha Ha….we’ve all been there. It’s the journey and it’s just too cool. Never before in history has man had the high air pressure sources and the sophisticated airguns that give you power, accuracy, and most of all such enjoyment! And they are legally quieted down to whatever you can get them to. Perfect for pesting, or just punching paper in your backyard. (Soon you will ask how to quiet your backstop as the sound of the pelllets striking the backstop will be louder than your gun. 😉 )
Minimize your frustrations. Buy a ProChrono Digital Model and move on. Place something in front of it so as not to blast it into pieces. I place the muzzle of my ariguns no more than a foot from the first sky screen. Airguns don’t have the debris that powder burners have that will cause a false reading. (I learned that from one of the airgun smiths.)
What gun(s) do you have? I started with a Daisy Pal and have worked up a few steps. My first PCP was a .22 TSS that I still have and enjoy. Then an AirArms S410 in .22. Then a BSA Sportsman HV, followed by a .25 Marauder and a .22 P-rod. I think there is a .25 BSA singleshot out there also that has eliniminated many ground sqirrels. 😉 We just get really hooked. If you get a gun that shoots well, KEEP IT! We sell guns that are really good shooters in search of the perfect airgun only to regrett selling that special gun that shot so well.
welcome to the TAG and enjoy your experience; your journey through airgun land. 😀
Hummm, I just don’t know, maybe I’ll just try the Pro Chrony Digital. 😉
Thanks for all the input, If it still acts up it’s going in the can!
I hate spending money twice!

That’s great Finch! I have the lights from my sc unit on my ProChrono and do most of my velocity testing indoors. The clear tape keep all kinds of debris off of the sensors; they are very easy to wipe clean. Good for you!
Well, now you see how your gun is shooting…numbers wise. Which pellet are you using? Are you satisfied with your ability to hit targets within your given area? Do you feel a need to tweak anything?
In any event, I am pleased that you like your new chronograph. Good luck!
