Had this happen to me with a customers gun today. Lucky the pieces only hit my arm because I was sitting on the ground firing through the chrony. First shot with one of my modded stock valves. Stock AF breech with new 90d ureathane o rings. All I did was change the stock o rings.
Gun has spin lock so I’m going to make sure it had nothing to do with it.
Fired same tank through my gun and it did 1017 fps with 62 gr, and 893 fps with 89 gr.

I have heard somebody has that accident with stock breech before. Typically when higher pressure (over 3000 psi) used.
I ordered brass breech from ebay. I fill to 3500-3700 psi. When maximum power wanted, you must use very high pressure. Like some custom bigbore-airguns (Ranger XP, even 4500 psi !), Corsair 3900 psi..etc)
I always use eye protection when shooting.
I can’t help but wonder if at some time in he past, some sort of solovent, or lub was used that could have hardned(causing imbrittlement), or otherwise weakened the molecular structure of the breach material.
Plastics can be some wonderful products, solving a myrid of manufacturing problems. Many times with great success.
And other times, it’s not worth a crap! 😆

Not a problem. Almost looks like AF is using something other delrin but I’m not sure. Just doesn’t sound like delrin.

Phill Hartsfield shop was not to far away and I would also talk to him at knife shows. His knives could look rough but the overall package has always fascinated me.
As I get more under my belt I will give a Loveless Chute knife style a try. Always one of my favorites.

Gun was 2 months old when it was dropped off to be converted to 24″.
It was a 3100 psi fill.
I fill my .308 to 3500 psi and have no problems with it.
