Being fairly new to the forum a question? I have 1 steel, 1 aluminum scuba tanks, 1 carbonfibre paintball tank. Bought these used, only one in hydro. Any thoghts. thanks Gene

This is probably a stupid question but I have to ask it. You guys that own your own compressors, do you still take your tanks to the dive shops for the Viz./and or/Hydro?
I have the electric one. If i need to travel I’ll get a generator . Best money I’ve spent so far.

Oh DAMN! Very nice. Yall boys with the big bores definitely have a different air usage logistics. Seems worth the money.
Benneeboy, i love this compressor.. from 3000 to 4600 psi it takes 7 minutes . The first maintenance is at 50 hrs and thats to change the oil.

I was looking at a Rapid, but I had trouble keeping up with the air requirements of the several PCP guns I already owned. I wasn’t shooting them because I ran out of air. Hmm. So, instead of buying another expensive airgun, I bought my Hammworthy compressor; 5.3cfm at 4500psi…I think. 😀
The Shoebox is a great little compressor that works well for many guys and Tom Kaye stands by them. I bought my compressor before they were available. I’m just spoiled now.
I have a Sheldon compressor. I bought it because my local dive shop would try to sell me 4000 psi instead of 4500 psi.
At the time I was just getting into all the r&d with the valve and regs. So I spent the $2600 on a compressor.
Now I have 8 SCBA tanks and 1 scuba. Some days testing the .308 valves I would go through 4 tanks of air.
It takes me about 1 hour to take the tanks from 3000 to 4600. I probably should have bought the next size compressor but what I have works real good and Jim stands behind his compressors. I had the first compressor fail and he said he would replace it or give my money back and I had had it for a year or so.

I bought my big compressor cause my shoebox would not hold up to my shooting. It kept breaking. Tom helped me out . To fix it but it was slow to fill plus im shooting bigbores.
I didn’t know that TK hade made a faster version.
MAW, I’m not gonna tell you what to do, you have far more seniority than I.
But whether you get a shoebox or $3500 on an Airtex..chances are your not gonna carry the compressor with you out in the field. Your gonna need a couple scube tanks or CF tanks to take with you.
Either of these tanks will get you many fills 10-15 on your gun.
The fact that you can fill these tanks in 10min with a big compressor is great. But for an extra $3000 in my pocket, when it takes only 3-5 hrs to top off a 80cf tank at 2500 psi up to 3500, or an hour or 2 to top off a pony to 4500psi.
Well like you said… be prepared, I’ll think ahead a little and just do it the day before.
Unless you have a paintball or airgun shooting range, I just can’t justify the cost. If you can or just plain want it for the best reason of all (ME WANT), then more power to you. I would like to have one also.
Anyhows, enough of my shoebox endorsement.
Like I said, I don’t even have a scuba or CF pony tank. Filling the guns in 10min is fine with me. For real heavy target shooting with pal, he brings his scuba tank..and/or 4500 pony. We shoot all day, then I take 1 tank home, fill it and we do it again next time. I have even taken the shoebox with me, and filled one scuba tank, while we shot off the other. Thats the deal with my shooting buddy, year 1, he bought the 2 tanks and I sucked air off him. Year 2, After the shoebox came in, he now sucks air off me.
Yes, we take turn sucking… 😆 😆
To me the ideal setup is a shoebox, and 2 little 4500cf pony tanks..for the field
What do you guys think about the new shoe box that fills about twice as fast. i think its twice the price also and comes with all the upgrades.
Mrnewbie, the 1st line explains me until I get that compressor and I want one that will fill a tank in 10 minutes. When you want to shoot all day you got to be prepared.
Looks like a shoebox is in order. I shoot everyday with cp’s but only 50 or so shots. I think a shoebox will do it. Thanks Guys

Safety always, 1st build a cage, there has been loss of life due to stupid thinking. I Have a 308, 9mm, 2-45’s and 4-AF tanks and a 850,plus a new, used, Sam Yang-22, 2 SCBA and 3 scuba tanks.
