New girl member and question: Is a TT Condor worth the wait?
Hi everyone,
I’m new here and I wanted to introduce myself. I’ve read about eightly percent of the posts in this section and I’m impressed with the knowledge and personalities I ‘ve seen here. I’m not new to rifles, but I’ve never owned, much less fired an air gun. It’s nice to share in your community since I have my heart set on a Condor. I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of guys.
I have a big question. Is the all out Talon Tunes Condor worth the wait? I’ve been waiting for a friend to get one here in Colorado, but he has been waiting for his TT since late April 🙁 . He sold me on one about a year ago and frankly, I should have ordered one from Tony. I thought I would try my friend’s out first. Now I’m getting impatient; a fault of mine, I know. My friend is a former DoD contract sniper and he has too much patience, if you ask me. I suppose it’s a job skill.
Much as I love Tony’s work, are there other craftsmen out there who do as good a job on suppressing and refining the Condor? Or I thought I would buy a suppressor – Tony’s or the one Airhog has – and refine the gun myself. I have experience building my own AR-15’s, so I might make the attempt. I’m not looking with much favor on a over seven month wait time if I go with the TT.
Just wanted to know what you guys think.

Dyotat100: I am following Rob’s lead on the ammo. He mentioned trying Black Mambas and Kodiaks.
I am still hoping to try Rob’s rifle before I get mine.

It’s nice to have choices. Tony does an awesome job. I picked up the AAA condor after about a 6 month wait. Randy at R&L (in Colorado CIty) also does an awesome job with the 25 Condor (shorter turnaround time). From what I have heard, Tony’s shroud results in a quieter report than the R&L shroud. But, I think R&L extreme valve may put out more air (and more power) than Tony’s valve. You can’t go wrong with either Tony or Randy.
Now, if you want total customization and super power – Dyotat is the person to seek. Dyotat will take the Condor to an entirely new level. Dyotat recently made me one of those barrel riding hammers. Expertly machined and way cool. No more hammer chatter. My plan is to have Dyotat upgrade the rifle with thicker bushings, valve work, and new shroud. 140 plus fpe (with the 7 ring slugs at least 950 fps) is the goal (backyard coyote problem).

I shoot pellets and slugs, with the .25 Condor, ussually 31 Kod’s at 55 yrds. 1 inch targets, fun I got a box of magazines wrapped in duck-tape, the power is plenty, welcome girl I hope you can hang in the darkside. You can do alot of the work yourself for a good shootin gun, start from scratch and make a gun.

Gotcha, I sure wish I lived close I have a bone stock talon ss with a neil clague suppressor. I would love to let you give it a go for a few days, it kills grey and fox squirrels nicely. I think prairie dogs would be in big trouble with a bone stock, except for suppressor, .25 condor. Check out the size of the fox squirrel my little talon took with one .22 crosman premier. I also have a
daystate huntsman in .25 that I have hammered jackrabbits out to about 80 yds when I lived in AZ and it doesn’t make as much power as a stock condor. Like I said I think if you haven’t shot these rifles you might be surprised at what they will do out of the box. BTW it is going to be awesome to have those prairie dogs to hunt, I’m jealous. LOL

I greatly appreciate the replies. I have done a lot of reading here, but I never thought to contribute. You guys are the best for taking the time to help. Again, I recognize most of your tags and I am delighted to hear from you.
August West, I’m tempted to buy a stock Condor and try it out, but I have some specific requirements imposed on me that make it more sensible to have a rifle built for the purpose. I’ll explain.
My friend Rob and I live in the same subdivision; I have an apartment in my parents’ home there. The home owner association charges members nine hundred a year for prairie dog control. The local contractor uses a vacuum truck, which seems a lot less humane to me than a head shot. Sadly, firearms are prohibited and just about any other method.
Rob did some heavy convincing and got an exception to their policy: an accurate, suppressed .25 cal air rifle. After they saw a few video clips, he sold then on the Talon Tunes AAA Condor; or the equivalent.
According to Tony , the TT AAA Condor has a full tune, custom shroud, custom hammer, o ring mod, vented bushing, vented frame, and the hammer slap mod. Like Rob, I don’t care about bling, so the fluted breech, jewelling, and signature cocking knob aren’t for me.
Dyotat100, I will definitely keep you in mind. I want the .25 to hit as hard as possible, so power is the most important; I have read that prairie dogs are some pretty tough animals. Do you have a web site?
Rather than give in to my impatience, I decided to keep going with the original plan and wait until Rob gets his; at least, a little while longer. He ordered some extras that I want to try out: Wokbutt, angled tank adapter, black tactical grips, custom trigger shoe and a one piece high performance top hat.
I am glad I posted this thread. Now I can have more confidence in Tony and have some good alternatives in place, just in case.

Don’t worry you are next on the list Joe. If my day job wasn’t so busy your parts would be done. Barrel is on the way. Hammer is done as far as I go until I machine the barrel. Valve body is started and the gun side done. Just need to cut the bottle threads and put the spring retainer threads in.
I did 65 hrs in 4 days. Had 2 days off and didn’t machine anything. Now I’m working 10 of the next 11 days.
Don’t wast Doug’s time unless your looking to reach way out beyond 150 yards. Okay, the real reason: Don’t mess with Doug until my .257 is done! 😈
as above mentioned, it all depends on what you want, your “smith” aptitude, and the depth of your purse. Tony’s work is first rate. I had him build me a .25 nearly three years ago and it proved itself. Adam’s work is top shelf as well and I have bought many of his creations. In retrospect, now that I am capable of doing my own mods and improvements, I am glad that I had one of his builds as I feel like I partook in the historic evolution of these one of a kind, American made, rifles. Not to mention I felt inclined to “give back” (support) the founders/owners of this site which I have derived much pleasure from and much knowledge 😉
