What is the max power which to be squeezed out a .223 airgun
Hi, I just wondered if anyone does know what the maximum power you can get out of a .223 airgun. Just curious…. maybe I’ll have to find out myself 😆 I think about 180 Fpe might be the maximum?

Kazz, I can’t give you this data since I have no ‘air consumption’ meter. I will just count the amount of shots from 300 bar until about 100 bar if you like. I normally don’t shoot at pressures below 190 bar because I always want to get + 300 m/s pellet speeds with 41.5 grain pellets …. but I is interesting to know how the pellet speed will drop below 190 bar. Even interesting is how the accuracy will behave with these lower speeds. I expect them to get worse since I have a relatively low twistrate for the RWS pellets.
I only once have tried one shot at 150 bar but it was with a samyang and it went through the sound barrier. And in my Condor the samyangs didn’t like those supersonic speeds ……
I hope I’ll be able to do some testings next week.

And what I want to know also: how much air per shot do you use from 300 to 200 and from 200 to 100.
For those who are interested I can do a shotstring without external regulator and fill tank attached. I have never done this before myself with the gun. I am also curious how many useful shots I can get out of one fill. I expect to get 10 shots from a 300 bar fill but actually I really don’t know. I will test with a single hammer spring first since this will get me the most shots.

I can almost alway’s agree with this guy but we have some great pellet shooters. In the dutch top 6 this year we do only have one solid shooter, the others are pellet shooters. And in the top 10 of this year we only have 3 solid shooters. For indoor conditions, the pellet shooters are still leading to my opinion. But for outdoor competetion the solid shooters are in advantage. Since most of our competitions are held inside I disagree with my friend. The Lonestar 6.35 mm airguns are really accurate as hell, I have a member of the 100m crew seen shooting a 5 shot group of 8,5 mm!!! By the way, Kazz has won a 100m match also with his so called little edgun only ….. so, a noisy airgun is no reason to win 😆

A very short reply since it is morning and I have to go to work … I will give you more info about other guns performing extremely well on 100m competitions. And not all guns are shooting with solids! However if you are shooting with high power airguns you better use solids. And if it comes to solids, until now only RWS is the best. I have seen several home made castings but they just can’t compare in both quality and accuracy. Some shooters with high power 5.5 mm airguns are using the 5.7 mm RWS pellets and resize them and they get extremely well results!
@oldgoat, we are using airguns here for shooting targets only. Almost all of us all are using external regulators and we are shooting on fill pressure with best accuracy. That means that shooting the 64 grain pellets is just for fun, plinking but no accuracy at all (my twistrate is about 1:17). Since you can fill the gun up to 300 bars I was curious how much power it could produce maximally. Therefore I had to use the 64 grainers at 300 bar. Actually for competetions I shoot at about 200 bar with the RWS solids only. You really should consider using these pellets if you want to achieve good results for high powered airguns. But it’s not the pellets only of course otherwise everybody using them would be a winner 🙂
Gradje; I am more than a little confused as to what pellets/bullets you are shooting out of your gun. You said that you got 329 mps with a 64 grain solid and then you mention shooting RWS 41.5 grain solids for the best accuracy.
You said that your Beaumont is a .223 cal. I am assuming that the .223” is the groove diameter and that you have somewhere around a .217-.219 bore. The 64 grain solid has me wondering but, have you tried any cast bullets in your gun?
I really think that cast bullets are the next step up in accuracy for PCPs: if you have the power to push them.
I don’t doubt that you can shoot ½” 5 shot groups at 100 meters.
I have 2 LBT .257” low drag moulds that will be here Saturday; I will then just need to learn how to cast bullets with them. I have a Hart .257” 1 in 14” twist barrel ordered and it will go on my bull pupped FX Boss.
I have high hopes for my home made project. It might work out or, it might not.
If it works out like I hope that it does, we might have to start an international best groups competition.
Any more info on your Beaumont will be greatly appreciated!

You story is believable. No need to get defensive. You Europeans are NOT the only ones having fun with airguns and cast bullets. We do it too. Competitions also. I’ve personally shot 3 different caliber Beaumonts and i love them. The only thing i don’t like is the extremely HIGH fill pressure. Like 4000+ psi. But the gun itself is a MONSTER and they are beautiful.
I’m glad you posted and i would love to see more of the Beaumonts and the other gun. I really like them.
Also Gradje, what twist rate are you guys using in the 223 guns?

I am now shooting more and more with the .223 The gun doesn’t like eley’s .223. I have been told that in the past the Beaumonts were shooting perfect with eleys but since they had changed the lead alloy accuracy dropped. Best performing pellets are the RWS solids. If you want to win 100m matches, these are the pellets to choose.
If you want more info, just ask. If you don’t believe my story, that’s not my problem 🙂 I often got smiled away when firearm shooters at the range saw me with an airgun…. hahaha, do you think you can reach 100 meters hahaha. But after seeing the groups, instantly the laughing stopped 😉 The Beaumont is like a Bugatti Veiron under the airguns, or should I say a GTR ….
OK guys, a short answer for now because it’s time to go to work. The two guns we were shooting with were a Sinner and a Beaumont Warrior. These guns really shoot hard! You can get several barrel diameters for them. For the Beaumont, like I have you just give the specs you want to achieve and it will be built for you with 6 years warranty. However, I dit buy mine seconhand but had it tuned afterwards. Best performing bullets are rws 41.5 grain solids below speed of sound. The samyang pellets are good for plinking. Exact speed depends on type of barrel and barrel twist. I will post some more pictures next time and a chrony string at 210 bar. Bare in mind that high power doesn’t improve accuracy but is just fun. Fill pressure of the gun is 300bar max and with double hammer spring it will just easily open the valve even at this high pressure. This gun is for freaks only hihi. O yeah, the higher the output, the less shots per fill of course.

RJ, I also think that it is a custom gun. I want to know what they are shooting as they either got at least 25 shots per fill or they edited the video before posting it.
329 mps works out to 1080 fps! I would like to know what gun, what bullet weight and all of the other info!

Correct me if I am wrong:
This year in competition:
Smallest groop was shot with pellets (Theoben .22)
Highest 5-shot score was shot with pellets (I think that was an lone .25)
Overal winner was an drummen Sinner .223 with the famous rws solids.
So: pellets can be accurate but not consistantly.
