Cricket: comfortable cheek weld for lefties?
I just received my .25 skeleton walnut Cricket . As a southpaw shooter, I can’t help but notice that the cocking lever tends to be uncomfortable on the cheek. Anyone found an easy mod to take the bite out of the lever? Even a piece of heat shrink tubing might do the trick. I thought of making a thin teardrop-shaped cover out of some material, or even just rounding off the square edges and polishing with a Dremel. Reshaping the hook for lower profile looks like it’s out of the question as I bet the material is brittle and can’t be bent either cold or hot.
Anyhow, with all the creative minds on the forum, I thought maybe someone had already come up with an ideal way to do this.
No sense reinventing the wheel…

I said: “ Left to hand with the lever facing down, it dries to a nice flat finish and is durable.
Does anyone know what I meant to say? It doesn’t make sense the way I wrote it. I asked myself about this earlier, but claimed I couldn’t remember. It’s useless to continue a conversation with an idiot, so I thought I’d ask you guys…
I think I meant “Left to dry with the lever facing down…”

I recommend a product called “Plasti Dip”, a liquid rubber compound in black. You dip the tool (side lever) into the can and simply pull it out. The thick rubber coating will stick to the side lever and dry. You can add as many layers as you want, as long as they don’t interfere with the operation. Left to DRY, with the lever facing down, it dries to a nice flat finish and is durable.
Coating can be removed easily by cutting and peeling it off.
Home Depot has it, as has Lowes. I’ve used it before and it is good stuff. Costs about $7.50 a can. It comes in spray cans, but I suggest the plain can for ease of dipping and no mess application.

Will do HOOT š Got the stock laminated wood selected…..might call him Nemo šÆ šÆ and THANKS :12: š š
It’s bad enough to have been born in the first half of the last century, but left handed to boot is almost too much to live with.
You have at that stock, and be sure to share your results!
Hey Knifemaker I noticed that in the AoA video. What a prick he is to his left handed brothers šæ couldn’t even make the Boss ambidextrous. Why I have one of those things ordered is beyond me šÆ Spend that much money and have to pitch the stock in the trash. I should saw it up in several hunks and mail it back to him and say thanks you ass hole…. š …for the wonderful stock š š I will say when it’s over I will have a “kickass” ambidextrous bench gun…… š š š
Never saw a FX Ultimate before. š
Oddly enough, FX charges more for a left hand stock. If you can even get one. And Fredric (The owner of FX) Is a Lefty. In fact, he won the AOA Bench rest with a Right Hand FX .30 Boss. šÆ
So apparently, even the Owner can’t get a left hand stock. š
Go figure!
Thanks for the lead Hoot, price is right. One of eddies many toys. I ām a die hard I suppose cause Iām holding out for that R4 but the wait is beginning to get the best of me and may not hold out much longer. Interesting times for bull pup lovers .
Check this FX Ultimate out…

If you need a different caliber, it’s retail is $750 and reviews say it can get off four shots in 3 seconds. Five seconds if you aim.
Might be worth a try.
Kind regards,

PS: Don’t worry about these mutt’s “ruffles”…say what you think.
Being a lefty can be at times a disadvantage with some of the offerings out there and have learned that I have to suck it up and roll with it. Glad to hear a lefty is able to use the crickets lever action bolt. I desire to have a magazine feed bull pup in .25. I like the idea of multi shoot but wish the mechanics to cycle the shots were in a fore arm pump action as apposed to the lever /bolt action. It would assist both lefties and righties by providing a constant sight picture with multiply follow up shots. Just my wants and personal views, not to ruffle anyone else with different views.
Any good plastic surgeon can make a nice divot in your cheek for the lever to sit. You could have him add some bone to the area above the divot that sits nicely on the action… š

Our good friend Ed of Edguns use to offer lefthanded Matadors I was told. Do not know this for sure. Daystate makes that option on some of their rifles. I’ve got an AirWolf with the left handed bolt….wonderful š š š Lot’s of ambidextrous stocks out there but few true lefted actions. š Some high dollar European target rifles have the option also and yes you pay more for it.
Like I said ‘lifes just not fair for us lefties” š„ š„ š„ Everybody knows left handed shooters are hands down the best shots around. We have learned to over come adversity and endeavored to perservere through our lives. šÆ šÆ šÆ Superior individuals one and all š š š
I don’t remember where but I know for a fact that an lefty airgun manufacturer charged extra for lefty guns.

“left to harden”???
Anyhow, I got your point. I thought about a small length of heat shrink tubing, also. I’ll eventually try one of the other, whichever I get my (left) hand on first!
