I’m thinking about a Mac1 Hunter. Any thoughts?
I was able to check out a Mac1 Hunter this past weekend at the Pacific Airgun show. I thought I really wanted an FX Royale FT model but after meeting Tim from Mac1 and getting a chance to shoot the Mac1 Hunter I am changing my mind. I don’t shoot competition but I like to shoot little groups and I like to put pellets into little varmint noggins at long range. The particular gun I want is the Hunter carbine with the HPA bottle. I’m thinking .22 set up for 31-33fpe. I know it is a little heavy for a hunter but I already have a Royale 400 and an Edgun for light hunters so the Mac1 will just be somthing different Anybody have any thoughts on this rifle or Mac1 in general. Thanks for your input.

Is it still arrogant and pompous if you keep in mind that the Yellow was CREATED to not make money off of advertising and Tim gave it to the guy who went and started doing exactly what the original owner didn’t want to happen after he died?
Some would call that fighting for what a dying man’s vision of what he wanted his website to be after he was gone and getting fucked over in the process.
I would hope anyone with a thread of moral fiber in them would be out of their mind pissed if the same thing was done to them. 😉
Yeah, I heard the phone call and thought Tim went over board and gave insight to a what arrogant pompous ass was lying under the surface.
But what you don’t hear in a recording as such is the build up that causes the dam to break.
Thought it was low to put that recording out there.

I’m not posting the following to try and defend the performance of the USFT rifles but more to try and express the variables involved in shooting matches and comparing international and national results.
Who knows why the poor international results, there are too many factors to say it’s one thing or another (or the rifle specifically).
One thing is that there aren’t enough competing on an international level to really know their capabilities or limitations.
Harold Rushton did EXTREMELY well with his nationally (obviously this is not international, but the rifle can be a winner in the right hands)…
From what I have gathered about going long distances to get to matches is that it will jumble the competitiveness to a significant degree. There are too many variables in the equipment and the shooter.
Which match are you referring to? I’m curious who it was, where they travelled from and how they did. I haven’t seen a lot of the USFT rifles competing outside the USA… I’ve been looking at this thing you mention for a while and it’s very interesting what (and who) wins and what (and who) does not.
I could be wrong but I believe there are very few USFT’s in Europe (i’d guess under five) where most of the World Championships are held. Certainly not the kind of numbers the winning brands have.
Someone on this forum was making some statements on the TM1000 and comparing it’s benchrest capabilities (and inferiorities) to the EdGun by saying that he hasn’t seen many TM1000 doing exceptionally well in benchrest over here. I responded by saying I haven’t seen ANY EdGuns winning or doing anything in benchrest over here, does that mean the EdGun isn’t capable?
I’d reckon that for every USFT there have been 2000-5000 Styer or FWB rifles produced…
Like the EdGun there just isn’t enough in the mix to use World’s or National’s results to make a determination on a rifle.
From personal experience I went to a FT match at a venue that involved long distance travel and placed close to last on my first visit. On the second visit to the same venue with close to the same course I tied for third. Any long distance trip to an unfamiliar venue is going to hurt your results. Sure after the first long distance trip you know how to handle scope changes and other issues but each time new things happen.
Well and the age old adage.
A shitty rifle in the hands of a pro can do well while the most accurate rifle in the hands of a bad shooter will not do well. 😉
Back to the Tim thing.
I never got Tim in a bad mood. I also never pushed him because I understood what he was up against and knew that good things take time. Like I said before, the people who got the bad side of Tim were likely assholes in the first place.
What Tim said at the end is what Tim said (I offer no excuses) yet the puppet who runs the Yellow is still posting shit saying you will get ripped off if you buy from Tim and he’ll cuss you out and call you an idiot.
Funny, I bought an amazing rifle from Tim and didn’t get ripped off or cussed out. Fact is Tim sent me a bunch of free stuff and spent a lot of time talking airguns on the phone and in person at FT matches…
Guess that could mean that the puppet guy is full of shit and will do anything to slander Tim or maybe Tim is not at all like he was on the times I have seen him. But, hmm, go figure. Tim got fucked, got pissed and moved on, the puppet is still talking shit and erases posts about how good Tim’s products really are.
Someone acted as you would expect a normal person to act when they get stabbed in the back by someone they were nice to, the other is acting like you’d expect a total asshole to act. One person has voiced the whole story, the other won’t post it because it makes him look like an asshole.
One guy produces rifles and the other runs a forum where the mods are jerks and put up prizes for ratting out people to fish and game because they don’t want to back their defective products.
It all comes down to this: I treated Tim like a real person and got treated like a real person in return.
Others have had different experiences and blame it all on Tim. That makes me wonder what kind of people those “others” are more than it makes me wonder what kind of person Tim is…

I figured someone might have actually known the real story…..I really don’t post very much but I watched this thread on and off and wanted to offer up a location on some USFT users and enthusiasts … they are very much a “Specialty Gun” and no single source of user information.
I know Syn has a couple… I just have the one, I got a great deal off one of the Yellow Form Members. Just took me a while to get the parts to up the FPE.
The Bench Mark Barrel is amazing….( I am fortunate to also have a .177 shrouded bbl and a .22 shrouded bbl.) I can say for sure they all are great shooters.
The only problem I have run into is the Air Tank pressure fluctuation due to ambient temperature changes. Even running the LONG Air volume @ 32-34 fpe I only get about 35ish shots with in a 30 fps range…… so shooting bench rest I don’t get very many “Extra” Sighter shots to dope the wind…
I will convert the gun over to “Regulated” HPA this summer. I see that a lot of newer guns are showing up like this.

Fast forward. Now that I have been banned for speaking up on dry nitrogen on the AGA forum, it is now openly discussed. Seems a bit too late though. KB baned so may there that it is just about done. It will go for days at a time with no post. A real shame. There was a lot of good info there.
Same thing is slowly happening at the Yellow. Steve gave me hell when I was trying to join. Seems he couldn’t read his own instructions. 🙄 😆

Long story short and I believe I have this correct, the Yellow was passed down to Tim. Tim didn’t have the time to run it so he passed it to the current “person”. The current “person” wanted to make some money off it so he started charging for advertising. Tim felt he shouldn’t be charged on a forum that was once his and so the drama started.
Result is; Now if any comment appears that his paid advertisers don’t like, their puppet removes it.
Like the one showing a picture of the bullpup stock copied by FX and the quotes from the owner of FX saying he would “never make a bullpup because they are useless”. Yep that one was gone quick.
My question (rhetorical) to anyone who posts there is; How can it be a “comprehensive air gun forum” is one of the premier manufacturer’s product from the USA can’t be mentioned?
And something for the same people to think about is, if you don’t like what our country has become then why do you participate in a forum that represents and perpetuates the worst of the issues plaguing our government?

Oldgoat- is that really what happened to Tim on the Yellow. Seems silly. I got to meet Tim at the Fresno show. Interesting guy. I found it funny that he sure let the “four letter words” fly as part of normal conversation with someone he just met. I liked him immediately. There is a lot of information in him that is not being shared anymore on the Yellow. Too bad!
