EdGun service & parts
Since i´m new for EdGun/PCP i wonder what kind of service and service intervals is rekommended for a Matador R3. Some seals/o-rings that i should keep my eye on or change at regular intervals or other internal parts that need TLC ? I´m used to take care of weapons but this is my first PCP so i need some guidance. Thanks in advance ! :popcorn:

OK guys, I have the Edgun virus REALLY bad and I am REALLY anal about my Edguns. After a bunch of emails and PMs to Ed. I compiled this list of all of the needed O rings for a R2.5 .22 and .25 cal and a R3 .22 and 25 cal. Ed uses 70 Duro Buna N O rings on everything. The 90 Duro Buna N probe O rings last almost forever if, you give them a little silicone once in a while. The stock 70 Duro Buna N probe O rings will wear out kinda quick.
If you start to feel a puff of air on your cheek, you need to change the 2 probe O rings out! The puff of air means that they are getting ready to fail and, when they do, you will get a 2000 psi blast of air to your cheek and your right ear will ring for 20 minutes!
I hate it when that happens!
AFAIK, these sizes are correct for the R2.5 and R3 .22 and .25 caliber Matadors.
2.5 x 1.75 Buna N 70 Duro, front air tube plug fill O ring seal
3 x 1 Buna N 90 Duro .22 cal cocking handle probe O rings
4 x 1 Buna N 90 Duro .25 cal cocking handle probe O rings
5 x 1.5 Buna N 70 Duro fill probe
8 x 1.5 Buna N 70 Duro breech end of barrel on R2.5s
25 x 3 Buna N 70 Duro air valve/regulator assembly
20 x 1 Buna N 90 Duro R3 shroud O rings
7 x 1.5 Buna N 70 Duro regulator
12 x 2.5 Buna N 70 Duro regulator
The only US place that I could find that could supply the needed O rings in the specified sizes was here:
Ken is a great guy to work with and he can get you any size O ring that you want. They are made in China and they will build them to your specified size. He has a minimum order of $20 per size. $20 for the smaller O rings gets you 500, the larger ones are $20 for 200. 70 and 90 Duro are the same price. They take around 2 weeks to arrive.
Being anal on Edguns, I ordered the 9 needed O rings from Ken, broke them down into 10 “O ring kits” and sold 9 of them to Edgun brothers here. The “kits” had 390 O rings total in them.
I had guys asking to get in on the second group buy, I ordered enough O rings for 20 people and it turned into a nightmare trying to get a usable mailing address to some of the non US addresses! I never heard from some of the guys that said that they wanted in and it took me around a year to finally sell all of the kits. I lost money on both group O ring buys plus, I had to count, sort, package and ship 7800 O rings on the second buy!
I don’t think that I want to go thru that again.
Outside of the 2.5 X 1.75 front air tube plug O ring and the 90 Duro probe O rings, you can get the rest of the O rings locally or online. The only place I could find the 90 Duro probe O rings was from Ken. You don’t really need a 90 Duro O ring for the front shroud air tube, a 70 will work, the 90 will just last longer.
I would recommend that any Matador owner has at lease one $35 air valve on hand! After around 25,000 shots, I broke one on my R2.5 22 standard and I have broke a couple on my 25 longs. Ed has said that the 25 long’s air valve would only last 7,500-10,000 shots.
I currently have 5 in stock but, I am kind of anal! 😯 😆
So far I have only found the 3×1 in 90 (top of the page), the price looks to be pretty good too.
I didn’t try to find the other two. Well that isn’t true. I found a site that had a minimum of $20 order per size and had just about everything in 90, well that is what they said.
For the three in 90 that is a minimum of $60 and you’d likely wind up with about 99 extra o-rings in each size.
Oldgoat made a bunch of sets at one point because he had to order in bulk. It’s probably the same site.
Great, now to find the 90’s. I’ll put that on my list of things to do this week. Does anyone have a list of O rings for the Cricket? 😀

I ordered some sets of all these rings ,including those Duro 90´s. No problemo finding them either but i´m in Europe. What pisses me off though is that i haven´t been able to get a hold on a spare air valve rod. Anywhere. Finding parts (read: getting into contact with Ed) is harder than cracking military codes. I´d like to get a spare rod,or two, and also a spare hammer spring and a spare breech incl. the bolt and the front part (where the transfer port sits) but to no avail.
I really like my two Ed´s but i think the parts supply is a joke. It´s like having a superb sports car but being unable to drive it if you happen to blow a fuse since that measly little plastic part is suddenly unobtanium .. 👿
I can understand people being busy and so but not being able to get a proper answer in six weeks time on a dozen e-mails is bordering on ridiculous.
