Q:

Hawke Sidewinder SR Pro 8-32×56 on Cricket and Edgun

I have worked out the settings on the new Hawke Sidewinder SR Pro reticle scopes on both my Cricket Std .22 and Matador Std .25. I am really liking them relative to the four (plus one Panorama 1/2 mil dot) Hawke Sidewinder Tactical 6.5-20×42 scopes I have on my other PCPs with the standard 1/2 mil dot reticles but they took me a while to learn. I tend to pest (shoot sparrows :)) at ranges out past 100 yards quite a bit from a bench rest. They are easier for guestimating elevation and windage at longer ranges IMO. The christmas tree design has varying aimpoints that just happen (great design) to correspond to equidistant points on the trajectory curves for typical pellet velocity. I have them set so that each major increment represents exactly 10 yards in range (5 yards for 1/2 increments) out past 100 yards and the windage increments match up in 5 mph increments by 90 degree wind adjustments. I no longer need a cheat sheet on the gun or scope cover like I do with the 1/2 mil dots (as long as I know what yardage the gun is sighted in at) and the 1/2 increments are right on the money. I run the scopes at 24x. Anyway, just curious if anyone else had taken the plunge with the new SR Pro glass etched reticles and what they thought. I think they have been out since about December 2012.

About 22Y @32X, the footage is in fullHD. No shot is fired.

Wow. What range and magnification is that?

Well – thankfully the Delta isn´t an Elite. The tubes are the same between Elite/Clearidge/Delta and some other “better brand” scopes.

The Elite broke and then I had to deal with Bushnell’s customer service. It sux. It took six months to get it replaced (multiple shipments back and forth) and they really didn’t want to. Don’t believe their warranty. Basically, when you buy one of their scopes you are on your own. That was two years ago so maybe they have improved??? The optics were clear but….

quote Sir Ville:

Mamba has nothing on Delta. Equivocally : Nothing !!!
I love my MTC Viper though but the Delta has clearer optics. The Viper isn´t far behind though but then again – it´s 10×44 fixed mag so the optics are more clear than on most with variable mag.

What – the Elite didn´t treat you right ??

Check the Delta 4.5-14x FTT reticle in first focal plane. It´s tailormade for airgunning (field target) with co-operation from one of the best European FTers. That one in 30x and Voilá !

I hope its not a Bushnell Elite. We have a history and it isn’t good.

Ok – How about an MTC Mamba vs the Delta Titanium?

quote Sir Ville:

It’s one helluva scope for the money. Chrystal clear optics and repeatable settings. Will appear in US late fall/early 2014 if rumors have it right. Essentially a Clearidge XP/ Bushnell Elite. Same tube etc.

The Delta Titanium looks pretty good. Looks big in Poland. Harder to get here.

I just bought a new scope for my rimfire – an Delta Optical Titanium 6-24. Made in Japan (Light Optical Works) and with optics that put many high-end scopes to shame. One of the best buys i´ve made for a long time and costs less than an Hawke SW. My faith over Hawke is gone after owning that damned Varmint and since i know a bunch of people who has /have had both SW´s and whatnot – no more Hawke for me !! Anyone wants a brand new, in unopened box (warranty claim) Varmint 6-24 with 1/2 mil-dot reticle ?? I´ll sell that one without blinking.

Wow. He really has a pair! I wouldn’t mess with him. Zoomed in on the reticle? Nice video.

The reticle is beautiful. It makes no sense for hunters/pest shooters to go with the 1/2 mil dot now.

Here is a test video I did today, 32X at 35Y,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Iw4wtmWGwc

Gun was stored in the cellar approx. 18°C and shooting at the sunset pm 7,00 temperature 28°C sun shining from left side.
On the first 2 groups you can see the POI is almost in the middle. Next shots are higher and right… Where could be a problem?

I do the test. I will shoot 5 shots to each target without touching the knobs. We will see where POI will move.
