Ah – we call a cabin here maybe.
About a house — that is not a house to live in, that is so called “dacha”, the summer house located out of town, where people go for week-ends. A kind of hobby town residents to be closer to the nature.
Well right now with the ammo shortages the 17 WSM is basically unavailable. I was lucky enough to call around the US and find two boxes at a Bass Pro sporting goods store in Destin, Florida and I got one when I bought the gun which was one of very few guns that got shipped to a Wal-Mart. Winchester did one shipment of the ammo in the US on July 8th and it may be a while before they do another and it could be next year before they are really flowing. A few folks are scalping it on gunbroker.com for $1.00 or $2.00 US a cartridge that gobbled up the first shipment. I know of one guy who bought ten boxes and no gun just to scalp it.

I have a Tikka (made by Sako) light in 22-250 and would love one in 17 WSM. The Savage B-Mag 17 WSM I picked up is for dragging through the woods. Browning has the 1885 Rolling Block in 17 WSM out for about $1500. A bit of trivia – the 17 WSM is based on a commercial construction nailer cartridge used to shoot nails into concrete.
I have lots of pests around my house when you include the sparrows most of the time. They never leave their favorite trees about 75 yards away. I also have static and reactive targets set at various distances but they are maybe 10% of my shooting. Most of my shooting is from an indoor (to the outside) bench rest and a second outdoor bench rest on a second floor deck under roof. I have my Matador so loaded with lasers and lights I don’t know if I could shoot it standing. 😛 The air conditioning and heating makes shooting all year round and in the rain really nice not to mention the bathroom close by. 😀
There´s something to be said about those hot .17 cal. rimfires! I love the .17 HMR and the rumor is ( Sako is waiting to see whether that cal catches on so the cartridge price stays on a RF level) Sako will chamber a barrel for that caliber ( .17 WSM) and offer it for my Quad and when/if that happens i´ll get one immediately. I quess Sako will rename the Quad for Cinco when that day comes around. :7:
I agree with your comments. If you are in that big a hurry to shoot, stay away from bench shooting. I target shoot a lot more than I hunt, or have an opportunity to take out a pest animal. A multi is the newest innovation demanded by the clamor of the crazed public. However, I never needed a follow-up shot from an Edgun. Where my crosshairs were centered, a hole magically appeared when I pulled the trigger. I used my first Edgun to trim bagworms off a hardwood tree a 150 feet distant from my deck. However, I do enjoy the convenience of having to load only after 12 shots. I am that lazy, and my old fingers take time to handle a tiny pellet for each individual shot.
I believe the price is fair for what is offered.
Side lever vs. Bolt….I favor the side lever. For me it’s easier to cock than the two direction bolt function. A small difference, but one of preference. Ed’s magazine certainly looks a bit simpler than the Cricket’s. More moving parts usually will have a higher incidence of failure over time. But, that remains to be seen. The Cricket’s magazine sometimes takes off running if I’m not careful when releasing it from the locked position. It just falls out and takes off. Ed’s looks to be easier to put in and take out. I wonder if his design prevents double loading, as does the Cricket?
Interesting times.
I never ceased to be amazed at what people consider to be “important” in their personal lives. I often see houses on the verge of falling down, with a new car parked in the front yard, satellite dishes on the roof, and motorcycles on the porch. It’s not uncommon in Arkansas to see a burnt out trailer home, with a brand new trailer home placed a hundred feet behind it. Some people just don’t seem to be concerned, as long as the sucker doesn’t leak when it rains.
You already know my take on the MS and being a BR shooter i don´t really see the point in having the MS. However – the EdGun MS is the sturdiest “system” i´ve seen on an airgun to date. The mag is “only” ten shot but it´s entirely made out of aluminium and doesn´t have any moving parts nor springs in it – just the mag and an o-ring around the outer edge. Simple & bulletproof as the rest of the EdGun. The mag is hold into it´s recess with two tiny spring loaded ball bearings so it just clicks into its place. You can store atleast four of them under the scope rail bridge – maybe five. They stay put thanks to those spring loaded bearings on each side.
The breech itself is a very sturdy piece of aluminium with a stainless cocking handle/probe and i haven´t seen ONE missed shot nor a miss feed yet. The MS has been on for at least 350 pellets so that´s good. After “The Doc” has polished and lubed everything properly and filed small recesses on the mag indexing slots it ticks like a Swiss clock. Really nice job Ed and so ingeniously simple with nothing to go broke – neither on the breech or on the mag.
That said – i love my single shot ! :4:
I would prefer that as well but just like anything you can’t make everyone happy. I’ve seen threads where people prefer to cock it every time after a shot to give it rifle feel.
Spoken like a capitalist pig 😆
Such a high dollar rig and only one magazine? 😕 That thing is a laser! Nice shooting!
as a benchrest shooter, that is what i am used to.. or with a semi auto, i could keep my eyes glued to the sight picture and concentrate on the target in my reticule.

I am not sure if anyone seen what I saw… shooting the R3M is like swimming the breaststroke… one has to gasp for air after each cycle. Why not make these in Semi shot modes so we can cock once, and just pull the trigger till the magazine runs empty? Just wondering out loud..
😆 good one Knife!
I agree with you Hoot, I’ve been watching a lot of videos from different countries and it seems as though they live in a refugee camp yet own a very expensive gun. I used to work at CVS as a pharmacy intern and I worked the drive through. It cracks me up when people drive up in Escalades or Mercedes and getting expensive prescriptions filled paid by the state. These people are not 65+ either. So like you said, crazy how people prioritize things in life. BTW your arm must be getting better, noticed you been writing short novels on these threads 😆
I don’t do much bench firing, I’ll leave it up to the pros like you guys to provide me what’s the best fps and shot count. I like to walk around and fire at random things (non living) to test my marksmanship. So the mag definitely will come in handy.
Well, I knew they had a Georgia over there, but I didn’t know they had an Arkansas. Looks like they do! 😯 😆

Really? A nail Gun ? 🙂
Tikka sure is a nice rifle. I have My eye on a T3 sporter .223. Many relatives of mine work at Sako so i get good deals on Sako/Tikka & Beretta.
Sent from my iPhone that my dumbass employer forced on me. Long live the Android !
