Q:

.25 Cal Cricket at 71FPE Shot string

Been Fine tuning again to see the limitations of the .25 Cal, this time testing the 43.2 gr. Eun Jin pellet. They barely fit in the mag as you can see. I’m sure I can take on a Hog at 25Y. Next is to test for accuracy with this tight groups it look promising. Also Tested the H&N Baracuda Hunter at 27.4 gr shooting at 1010fps and vary consistent speed, at that speed with a hollow point it will make a big mess and the Polymag going at 1021fps. The hardest pellet tested was the Accu Pell at 27.8 gr speeding to 986fps. All the pellets will be tested for accuracy and find the go to pellets and challenge the Kings!

Here is the shot string at 240B.
1. 865 1. 859 1. 861
2. 863 2. 858 2. 858

No I didn’t, is a stock cheek piece.

Ernest

Ernest,

Did you make the wooden cheek weld piece which sits on top of the rectangular lever/indexing assembly block? It matches the gun so perfectly, looks like a KalibrGun part. The .25 I got definitely needs a better cheek rest than the metal block.

Thanks!

Looks to me like a plain Cricket WST (aka “skeleton”) stock..

That’s the purpose of the long forearm to make it look like the standard model, to me that IS! —–> if I told you its a .22 Cal would you believe ME?

Is it possible to make the hamer a little bit heavier?
Edit:
Is it possible to make a costum spacer to make the volume a little bigger behind the reg?
How much space is there before the o-ring hits the hole in the air tube?
I thought there was some kind of unwritten rule: 1cc = 1 fpe, but that would take a lot of space and impossible for the cricket.

Regards, Robert.

1. I know you cant make the hammer any longer to make it heavier, maybe drill holes and pour melted lead—that will work now just finding an extra hammer to try it out.
2. The current spacer is the max size, because the regulator cant move any further up the air tube it bottom out on a smaller ID of the air tube.
3. How much space is there before the o-ring hits the hole in the air tube?, ———-> which hole in the air tube???, there only 2 tale tale vent/leak holes at each end. you mean the 2 o-ring at the end of the air valve??? If so you cant extend the length of the air valve to increases the air volume, it will unseat the o-ring that seals the regulated air.

Ville that’s actually the new longer “fore grip” stock for the .25 cals. The older ones used STD “skeleton” stock.

DANYAC,I purchased a .25 cricket from steve at wild west, it came with the long stock and the numbered gauge! Give him a call, great guy.

Here’s one to try:

On the air valve spring, that keep the valve shut, the spring is to strong it prevent the full load of the hammer to open the valve fully open/or long enough.(some I have taken apart are over tighten) so I replace it with the same size spring to a weaker spring. that along increases the FPS to 20 to 30fps. you just have to insure that the valve seals when filling, if not pull on the valve stem about 10 seconds till enough pressure in the air tube to push the seat shut.

Here’s 2 to try:

The aluminum spacer between the regulator and valve, well I drilled a lot of big holes on that spacer to increases the regulated air volume, that gave me 8fps more.

I’m still tuning to get that 74fpe

Hi Ernest,

You’ve done another outstanding job!
Unbelieveable how much fpe you got out of the crick.
There must have been masive changes inside! the regulated chamber size, valve, transferport, ect.

In most cases slugs should be sized and weight for good results.
.247 or .248 it depends on the barrel.
With .22 it will be arround .217 to prefent the barrel from wearing down to fast.
Another problem:
Some barrels get dirty really fast with slugs, others not.
Example: the sharp edges between lands and grooves of the lw barrel might get dirty quick.

Regards, Robert.

Nice job. Is the .25 Cricket with nearly a 44 grain pellet outperforming the 44 grain pellet with the 30 cal barrel on the Cricket? I guess I figured that the larger diameter barrel would be a bit more efficient?

quote Hoot:

I would not want to be shot with that Ein Jin at any range!

It is interesting how powerful the Cricket is. I was very surprised to see it tossing the 43gr over 850 fps!

Would you like to try some lead slugs? I have two sizes in .25 caliber…48 and 52gr, I can send you some to test if you wish. Just drop me a PM with your address and I’ll get some out to you in the mail.

These were custom made by a fellow whose forum name is “Pentode” over on the Yellow. They fit tight in the .25 Edgun Long, and would likely have to be single shot in the Cricket. I’m having some trigger work done on my Edgun Long, so I can’t give any performance details at this time. Might be interesting to compare the two bullpups with the same pellets and see what results. I’m curious to see how much fpe the Cricket can develop using a slug vs. a pellet. Fps would go down, but will the fpe go up???

Regards,

Thanks Hoot,

I have tried mrhollowpoint 44gr but to tight and to much lead contact and shot only 700 fps, so mine prefer medium tightness pellets not slugs, unless its a perfect fit and tightness. let me know how fast on your .25
