New to TAG forum, hello to all….Question?
I have been debating on whether to buy an Edgun R3 .22 standard, which according to Tony is in stock and ready to ship. Or, putting up deposit for the R3M .25 long which as many of you know is currently scheduled for October shipment from factory. Other than the multi-shot capability of the R3M, are there any other differences between the R3 and R3M ? My other hang up is wanting the grey stock instead of walnut, which as I understand it is not in the pipeline as of yet. Has anyone heard anything about if/when this stock may be available for the R3M .25 long? If FX would do some reconstructive surgery on the Bobcat stock, I would consider “pulling the trigger” (pun intended) on this one. I’m curious how it performs out to 100 yds, since it appears by Ted’s review of the .22 that 50 yds is no challenge for this gun. Wondering about performance/volume of the .25 Bobcat.

Thank you for your post. I am very impressed by Ed’s shooting with the .22 standard at that distance. This certainly proves the capabilities of the .22 at long distances. I am still leaning toward the .25 cal. since I already have a .22 but trying to keep an open mind. I hate to admit it but I am not very mechanically inclined and left to my own devices, if I have to do a lot of tuning on the Matador such as the trigger which by all accounts needs work, I will probably screw it up. I am not very clear as to what is required to tune for speed on the Matador but when I owned a Marauder, the tuning was very easy. When I purchased my Air Ranger .22, I had it tuned before it was shipped to me. This puts me in the unfortunate position of buying from a store that can service my gun after the sale if necessary. If I did decide to go with a Matador and messed something up, I don’t have many (if any) recourse on sending it somewhere to fix it. I have seen some of the vids from Ernest Rowe and Old Goat and I have always been impressed by people who are mechanically inclined and can improve on things that need some tweaking to maximize performance.

Now that would be like winning the trifecta!!! However, the challenge is picking the order of win, place, and show. As it stands right now, I think the race would end with
1. Edgun Matador .25 long to win
2. Cricket .25 to place
3. Bobcat .25 (but this horse still in training and bets still coming in on the outcome) to show.
If these guns didn’t have this price point, I would have already put my money on the Matador and not looked back, but don’t want to have buyers remorse so I’m going to hurry up and wait for the second version of the BC. Meanwhile, I will enjoy learning and listening to you fine gentlemen and your experiences with these guns. As soon as the sun comes up in my part of the world, I will try to get a squirrel or two or maybe a few doves with my Ranger .22 🙂
You simply can not go wrong with a Matador. A good choice ! No reason to loose your sleep whether you picked the right gun or not – since you did ! :7:

The Bobcat is not a real bullpup…besides, it’s uglier than Sir Ville’s first ex-wife! (the “Dike” with one leg)
I’ve read from credible accounts that once fired, the pellet from a Bobcat begins to drop within two to three seconds, and eventually hits the ground. Is that the performance you really want in a premium pellet rifle?
October is just a few weeks away. Most of us waited up to a year, and more, to receive our Edguns. If you are serious, you’ll wait for the R3M, as the resale value will be better.

This is my point of view; all type of Edguns are very good and they made by hand (hand made), personally i asked Eduard (the owner) for the differences between the Edgun versions (one time on youtube) he said as the accuracy there is no difference between them, all you can find just number of shot counts, as of the R3 and R3M, you know about that, as Uncle H 😯 😯 t said, you can wait or you can just order the R3 then order the R3M breach kit for it, but this kit when will be ready? i don’t know!
And you said R3M .25 Long, per Eduards post, there are a limited Long version for USA this time, and i think this is too late for reserving the Long one, but i believe still you can choose the R3M .25cal Standard.
So, all Edgun versions are compact, and the rest is Short, Standard and Long! think which one is the perfect for you?
personally after the main points, number of shot counts are a big matter for me. :4: , otherwise you will not regret with Edguns…. :8: :8: :8:
I can tell one thing for sure: You guys hype the BC all too high. It’s NOT more accurate than either Cricket/Matador. It’s NOT the new Messiah on the scene. This is exactly like it was when the Cricket first arrived. Was it better than the EdGun? No. Here are already seberal guys who have bought AND sold their BC’s and Indy’s after having had them for a while. And not becausr of it’s natural beauty…

I did consider the Cricket also but the general consensus was that the BC is possibly more accurate than both the Matador and Cricket. Also the trigger on the BC is supposed to be a better performer out of the box and its two rivals triggers need modification to get even close to the BC factory trigger. One more stickler for me being a left handed shooter is the prominent cocking lever on the Cricket and the potential obtrusiveness on the cheek. IMO my cheek weld would have to be adjusted more than I’d like. Keeping an open mind however since I have been contemplating one of the three discussed here more than once with the discovering of more information on each that continually makes the decision more difficult. I believe these three guns stand on their own merit but for me to make the best decision possible the BC needs a little more time to prove itself among its very worthy competition.
Shootr, any reason a .25 cal Cricket isn’t in the running? They’re quiet, available, accurate and the skeleton stocks are cool. So far, I have no complaints with mine, except the cheek rest, which will get modified.

I have already asked Eduard whether Edgun has ability to shot 300mrt or not, but he replied hopefully can do it this year.
