One of the best tasting jerky that I have ever had in my life was jerky made from bear meat .

Genuinely that looks like a really nice set up. I love Airforce PCPs. The thing with them is though, that you can chase your tail in search of the “perfect gun” as there are so many options (barrel length, valve strength, calibre, hammers, springs, shrouds, baffles and so on) that you can get a bit lost (err speaking personally). I went through a phase of chasing the fpe, now I’m a little more interested in keeping the volume down. I’ve got expensive 24 inch barrels but I’m currently running a second hand 18!

I have come to the conclusion that there is no perfect gun, just a set up that best reflects your preferences. Others on here will know better, but if you have internal baffles in yours then I’m not sure you really want a shroud as well? You could encounter accuracy issues. If you want the quietest possible gun then you probably do want a good shroud and perhaps ditch the baffles? I have found that there isn’t even a perfect shroud as some perform well in quietening an already relatively gentle set up, whilst others are less effective with quiet guns but come into their own in calming the beast set ups. What tank valve are you running? I find the tank valve to be one of the biggest variables. The tophat makes a big difference as well. Tony’s one piece tophat is a thing of beauty and very powerful, but certainly not the quietest unless you put an insert in, but what’s the point in that?

I will be testing one of Tony’s gen 5 shrouds shortly back to back against some others. I hear good things.

Right on Lurker, another 257 build, go shoot a bear with it, and send me some bear too while you at it. I ‘m sorry I tried some bear once and man it was like nice solid roast beef. Any ways, Congrats on your build!!

Jamieinmd,
I had more fun with my 12″ x .177 at 50 yards than i did with my 24″ x .22. At 100 yards. Some day I’ll find another frame for it. But its frame got sent away for a 32″ x .257 build. To ease my pain and to have another backyard friendly plinker/pester I broke down and ordered .22 cal. Vulcan from Talon Tunes. But I won’t part with the 12″ x .177 barrel that I got from TT becuz Tony made it into a tack driver for me. High power has its place in my arsenal but so does low power quiet accuracy.

Jamie, can you post a picture of where or what you shoot ❓
I just do targets at http://www.limasabres.com

Well, almost two years with the Talon SS. It has become my favorite gun. Lite, handy accurate and reliable. Rugged little gun. Accuracy is wonderful, just check toyr barrel retention screws and your barrel bushing set screws. It is shooting 18 gr JSBs into single ragged holes at 25 yards. Not bad for a 12 in barrel.

More than a month with the talon and I’m not impressed. One good group out of atleast a hundred 5 shot groups. What’s freaking me out most is its shooting in a straight line up and down rendomly from a stable bench rested position. The other thing that flips me out is that it will only group with the cphp . Had I known I would have gotten a TX200 Pro sport. The gun looks and handels great but is a real dud as far as consistant accuracy goes. Just can’t figure it out.

Never had an issue with PA. Ordered my SS and it showed up 3 days latter. CO2 adapter was bonk – but they sent me RA within 24hrs.

Way too many people have problem with the CO2 adapter. Got to wonder what is wrong with with them – but more often than not they leak.

I have always had good luck with PA as well. But I saw a Talon SS on CO2 in their catalog and called to buy one, and they would not sell me one other than buy the whole HPA set up and then add the CO2 items. Coming to about $700. I called AF for advise and they sent me to R&L who promptly sold me just what I wanted for $477. Got it yesterday. Free shipping and super quick service. They sent it out the same day. I’ll be looking to them again. Brian Smith

Where did you order it from? I looked at the reviews for PyramydAir and Airgun Depot and they were terrible. Airforce shows them out of stock so can anyone recommend a reputable retailer to buy a new Talon SS from?

I’ve never had a problem with PyramydAir.

So far everything i have ordered for my pcp including the three guns i have now i ordered from pyramid air. The people who post about bad customer service and getting hung up on are probably the kind of people who call because they ordered a scope and ring package from the scope manufacturer that does not have the right height rings to use for their specific gun and then calls pyramid air and is rude to them from the start expecting some type of compensation for ordering a scope and ring combo with incorrect height scope rings for their specific gun. If you read a couple reviews there is one that sounds exactly like the scenario i just gave. I dont think it is PA fault for something like that or expect a customer rep to be nice to someone who calls in and just starts blasting them because they had something wrong with the goods they bought. My experience has been great with them so far i have returned two items for exchange from my orders and both were very easy returns with very prompt delivery of the new item.

Thanks. That’s all I really needed to hear. I was just skeptical after reading some ad reviews. I actually spoke to a salesman at PyramydAir and they were very helpful. I will be ordering soon from them.

Nice stock.

I am not sure where you get the terrible reviews idea but on PA site the talon has over 60 reviews with all but one being 5 stars and the other one is 4 stars. PA also has them in stock.

Not reviews of the Talon. I’m talking about reviews of PyramydAir themselves. I’m just trying to find a good place to buy from, but when I look at sites like this link

http://www.epinions.com/pr-Online_Stores_Services-Pyramyd_Air?sb=1

you can see my hesitation in buying from PyramydAir. If everyone here on TalonAirgun says they are great then I have no problem ordering from them. I’m just tired of dealing with shady internet stores.

Nice rifle.

“Serenity”….. favorite class of Firefly ship
