Q:

CRICKET Magazine not indexing correctly?? Need help

Hi all.
Received my new .25 cricket a few days ago.. when I loaded the magazine, either one, with rifle just out of box, no pellets..
on occasion, the cocking lever needed to be pulled 1 1/2 times to index the mag correctly. It didnt happen all the time so I thought it would just go away as the gun wore in..

I finally went shooting this weekend and it will not index almost every time I cock the lever..
I have noticed that both magazines turn counter clockwise slightly when pulling cocking lever back (dont know if this is normal?)
and both magazines will not index all the way without me applying slight clockwise pressure to the magazine while releasing the cocking lever.

I can see that the little white indexing arm is not seating perfectly on the magazine teeth after the 1st lever cock..
instead it pushes on the side of the tooth, which only indexes the mag 1/2 way when trying to release the cocking lever…?

Should I just use a rod and bend the indexing arm in slighty while the mag is in so it seats on the magazine tooth? or is there a way to adjust what is happening..?

I just got the rifle and cannot seem to find any videos or articles in English to help..
Please help if you can. Thanks

Kalibrgun

you need to adjust the mag tension plunger at the bottom of the mag slot its a 1/8″ rod that is spring loaded, at bottom of the breech there is a set screw holding a spring so you can adjust the rotation of the mag so it will line up with the probe and barrel. if you send the breech block to me I can adjust it for you and also can determine if its a defect. any repair or issue of the proper operation of the cricket you purchase from Steve, I will repair I’m the only repair tech/turner for WWAG and here to help you in anyway I can if not sure Steve can refund you. PM me.

EEEERRNEEESTT !!!

Well I removed and re torqued the plate a few times.. The index arm now seats properly but magazine still will not index all the way.. after cocking all the way back, the magazine hole is about 1/8 inch , counter clockwise, to the barrel hole. I still need to apply slight clockwise rotational pressure to the magazine while releasing the cocking lever in order to load the pellet correctly..

If needed, I will pay someone to help me fix it via chat, or facetime if you have an apple, so that I dont have to mail this gun back.. I would like to fix it myself so I get the experience and I dislike very much how mailed packages are treated by our mail carriers..

anyone up for it please email me here or at

Thank you so much for any help.

Do that. Let us know…

Thank you for all the help all. I will try adjusting the plate (2 screws) and re- test. I will let you know how it goes later this afternoon.
Thanks again

Yup – it´s short allright. Never thought that silicone thing so i need to try it. I use Loctite and warm things up with a hot air blower before loosening and no problems at all. A hairdryer will do in a pinch.

It is the forward screw that is critical. This screw is also veeeery short (at least on my Cricket .22). Just a little too tight and the indexing jams….. 😥

Locktite is good, but makes it difficult to remove the screw later. I have used some marine silicone on the threads. Makes the screw stay put, – but also easy to remove later if ever needed….

Good luck !

Cheers

What Ernest just said. I´m willing to bet that just by loosening those two screws holding the plate and then retorque them without adding too much torque (almost loose is the right amount. Use Loctite too) will cure the problem.

Sometime the index lever assembly need to be shimmed up or down to have equal clearance to clear the breech block door if not the finger it will catch an edge and will not extend out to advance the mag, remove the mag cycle the index in auto look at the clearance of the finger coming out of the block–there’s only about 1mm clearance both side of the finger, I add more clearance on the access plate side, because the torque from advancing the mag will force the linkage finger to the plate side. Only one of many to look at to have a smooth auto index. Also if you over tighten the access plate you will reduce the clearance or add force on the index assembly then it will not cycle smoothly. And also the spring plunger under the mag need to be adjusted to synchronize with the auto index, if over tighten the mag will under rotate to loose will over rotate the indent on the mag. Yes there a lot of adjustment to make the auto index operate smoothly, not like the R3M is vary limited.

Man, if it’s that bad and you can’t it fix. Ask if you can just send back the receiver (breech) assembly. It’s easy to remove: remove trigger linkage and loosen the two hex screws and pull off.

Fits in a small flat rate box ~ $5.80 to send.

My new breech assembly from Ernest Rowe, after FedEx more than likely through my order and bent the stainless steal cocking lever inwards and bending it against the cover plate. Works great no barn door creaking or rough cocking !

quote Fast and Danger:

Is it new? Contact dealer you got it from and exchange it. Looks like you have a lemon or its a simple OE.

I would love to fix it myself, I always dislike having to mail rifles as I see how delivery men treat boxes on the truck.. Ill see if anyone has some ideas, and then I guess I will have to mail it back to the dealer.

Great video, but doesnt address the fix I need. Any other suggestions beyond emailing E Rowe?

Maybe this will help see about 9:30 into the first video.

That’s exactly what happened to my dumb ass! Sorry talk to Ernest Rowe he’s the MAN! :5:
