Battle of the bullpups!
A fun way to pass my afternoon.. 150 pellets down range from 3 different production .22cal bullpups..
I filled each gun and shot 5 10 shot groups consecutively at 45 yards with the same tin of 5.52mm 18.13gr Edgun pellets (un-sorted) right out of the tin.
I have chosen the best of the 5 groups (there were some flyers with two guns) and compared the Bullpups accordingly…
First up the Kalibrgun Cricket STD:
Calibre: .22 (5.5mm)
Barrel: CZ 450 mm long, choked 12 grooved barrel
OAL: 680mm
Velocity: 890fps av Regulated 130bar
Cylinder start pressure: 230bar
EDgun Matador R3 STD:
Calibre: .22 (5.5mm)
Barrel: Lothar Walther 470mm long, choked 12 grooved barrel
OAL: 745mm
Velocity: 915fps av Regulated 130bar
Cylinder start pressure: 230bar
Snow Peak P12:
Calibre: .22 (5.5mm)
Barrel: Snow Peak 460mm long, non-choked 12 grooved barrel
OAL: 720mm
Velocity: 890-935fps NOT Regulated
Cylinder start pressure: 200bar
All rifles shot extremely well off the bench, the Cricket and the Edgun both had a few flyers in the other 4 groups but like I said the pellets were unsorted. I had just lapped the Crickets bore so it was still leading in but groups were about the same as the Matador groups and it would be hard to pick a winner at that range… However.. the P12 absolutely shocked me!
Un- Choked, un-regged (because I couldn’t be bothered taking it out of the .177) and un-tuned, it still has the large transfer port in it set up for the regulator!
Honestly, apart from the last 10 shot group as the air got low, I couldn’t choose a best group out of the first four groups! they were all under a 1/2″!!! :8:

This was not ment to be part of the P12 review.. it was just some fun afternoon plinking to have a break from the workshop.. I will continue the P12 (with reg) pellet and long range test shortly on my sticky reveiw page.. 😯

Wing – Thanks for spending the time and $$$$ for this test/review. Looks like the risk paid off. I think the general consensus of those following this thread is that we appreciate it very much. :thumb:

It would be cool to see what kind of groups the P12 holds at greater distances; more out of curiosity than anything else.
And the fact that the gun is made in China should not deter anyone from believing that it’s inferior to guns make in the western bloc.
If it can hold those groups at 50 yards, I doubt seriously you’ll get any “shotgun” pattern at 75 – 100 yards. Furthermore, hell, when I’m hunting in the brush, I seldom have a clear shot greater shot of 50 yards. If I’m out in the open, a 1” variance can be blamed on the wind conditions or my own ability.
That being said, anybody with the Cricket or the Edgun that has 75 yard – 100 yard groups they care to post? 😉

Ill skip the 50 yards and do 5 shots at 75 when I get the chance..
The .22 p12 is not tuned at all.. it was tuned for the reg with a new hammer and valve spring and large transfer port.. The string would have been all over the show.. I will clean the R3 s bore and lead in the Cricket and run it again. See what you guys make me do?! man I hate shooting air guns..

For the record the Bobcat shoots better than the Ed & Cricket.
So do we know what one of these BPs cost yet?

What great results !!!!, and without a regulator fitted. Maybe some people will now realize that this is a serious contender. I will also like to see groups at say 50 and 70 yards.
This will surely hurt a few of the other Bullpup makers in future.

I’m glad the p12 did better than the cricket and edgun with groupings…it shuts the skeptics up..
Crickets and edguns aren’t the only bullpup that can shoot good and I’m glad so far the p12 can show what other regens can do with making guns.

Like others have said, be great to see some 75 yard groups. Thanks for sharing, we love to see new products in action.
Very nice shooting indeed. I would have thought the Ed and Cricket would have done better. Just goes to show you who would of guessed.

Interesting work Wingman, I agree with Zocoloco to some extent as well, the P12 is freshly tuned and optimized for this exorcise as the other two are somewhat in need by comparison. Please !! bring all three to the same state or ready and give us a 5 shot at 50 to 75 yards. I particularly like the individual 25 bulls eye comp. targets to see shot placement. Still impressive for the P12 none the less !! I am very anxious to see how well it can hold the pattern together as distances get further. Amazing out of the gate performance.
