Q:

The Compact and a new modell .25 in da House !

Got the package today. Two smoking new Crickets , the .177 Compact is made April 14 and the .25 WB April 17. That Compact is tiny indeed …
I also got my new CF shroud/silencer Combo, made by Nutshot in UK. Absolutely fabulous work. The shroud itself makes the .25 quieter and with the muffler on it´s a whisper. The attention to detail is second to none.
Tomorrow i´ll break in the Compact. Been cleaning the barrel (shitty as hell), attaching the rail for the Bipod and fiddling with the trigger almost three hours so haven´t had the time to make the .25 race ready yet – except that pesky task of cleaning the barrel on it. I don´t understand why KalibrGun uses so much goo (some kind of Wax) in these barrels. You could throw them in Ocean and recover them 5 years later and the bore would still be sparkling – after 35-40 patches to remove the wax the Ocean couldn´t. Talk about overkill …

I need to measure. I’ll measure the stock while at it too. 😉
When the muffler is on two things happen:
1 – It gets long
2 – There’s total silence except the hammer slap.

I need to get that kit for my .177 Compact too. It would probably be the quietest AG ever made.

Add some weight on the front if the balance isn’t right.

That’s the longest Cricket I’ve ever seen… What you compensating for, Ville?

How long is the stock on the .25? I wonder if it would fit on a standard, I would like if the stock was about as long as the air reservoir and it would be good for balance too. I think the Cricket is too light in the front for steady shooting off-hand.

The new .25 WB with Nutty CF shroud and muffler. With the muffler on one gets annoyed by the hammer slap. That´s all you hear …

Broke it in today and it shoots really good. I changed the HS and HST adjuster and boy, did it shot HOT at first. Over 1000 fps 😀 .The POI stays put regardless the pressure in the AT so i quess the new “bridge” was a good idea for the .25 and its long barrel. I´ll write a full report later.

I use Autosol followed by JB Paste. Does wonders!

BTW Hammer forged barrels really don’t need breaking in. They are smoother inside to begin with. That is when you compare them to the LW or any other barrel that’s not Hammer forged. Polishing the barrel gets you the most benefit by far. It made a night and day difference in both my Crickets. I’ll do my 177 Rainstorm next. Its a heck of a shooter and will really shine with a good scrubbing and polishing.

They are cool. I did shoot my .22 Cricket a little bit today but my .177 Baby Cricket is the main stay for back yard pesting. 275 seems perfect for mine. What amazes me the most is how far out that little gun can reach set like that with the 10.34s. I take shots out to 75 yards or so when I get them so I have my magnification set very high nearly all of the time since I normally shoot from a rest and would consider 16x minimum but I like to see the nice puff. :4:

About two weeks ago there was this bird right at about 80 yards and I could barely make him out through the woods but he was in direct sun on his perch. I used the 4th mark on the SR Pro and let a JSB loose from a Caldwell Magnum rest I had just picked up as a backup for PDoggin. I didn’t hear the impact but I saw the puff of feathers and the tail spin that ensued.

I hear the drums of another light scope discussion/war brewing – cool. :8:

Yep. A fun Gun and the 275 looks like a perfect blend of power, accuracy and shot count. Went there after your advice too so thanks! Saved me a bunch of Pellets since i knew that´s the power you were using.

We don´t need another light scope discussion so i´ll just quietly go on my way for now …

What I end up doing I’d taking beech off and start cleaning with mop and jb paste. You never get it clean with just patches. After about 50 patches and cleaners on my 25 it was still a mess after that. The mop showed it in a hurry. You can then polish barrel as we discussed in previous thread

That´s the way i did it too in the end. JB Paste and VFG felts. It´s truly hopeless to try to get rid of that waxy substans with patches alone. A nylon brush helps but in the end the JB does it easiest and fastest.
I´ll polish the barrel after it´s got a 500 – 600 Pellets thru it.

Went to the Range to do a break-in on the little Bugger. What a nice little rifle ! I haven´t had this much fun shooting an AG ever before. It will definitely see a lot of use from now on. I zeroed it at 35 meters and i think that´s about the best distance to have a .177 zeroed at. It shot hot at first (290 mps with 10.34 gr JSB`s) but even at that power it is a Laser. I settled for 275 mps in the end – for much higher shot count – and i think i´ll keep it somewhere there.
Now i need to find a good, compact and light scope for it – with 16x minimum – and i´ll be a happy camper. The Bug Buster 3-9x doesn´t really cut it but that´s the only compact scope i had at hand so that´s what´s on the Gun now. Now i know what Coda meant : This Gun is a blast and a half !

Just noticed, it has already been answered.

What screws are removed to slide off the breech? And did you have to degass when you removed the breech?

You don’t have to degas to remove the breech but you’ll need to depressurise the tube if you want to open the end cap/valve assembly.

Daman got it right. Piece of cake. just make sure when you reassemble you tighten the angled Allen screw first. That is the one that snuggs the two pieces together. The one closer to air tube is the done that keeps it that way.
