Q:

QB78 based .30 PCP

So, as most of you guys know, I’m a glutton for punishment… I would like to build a QB78 based PCP, like a corsair. But this one would be a .30 using a TJ airgun .30 barrel. Now here’s a question: how long of a barrel should I use? Of course, the length of the reservoir is relative to the barrel. I’m looking for an efficient barrel length. Mostly for longer range target shooting, though I would like to take small game (woodchuck at the largest) if the opportunity presents itself. Target number of shots would be around 5-6 full power shots. Not sure of a target fpe, but seeing as how FX’s .30 is 75 fpe, I think 75+ is where I should target it. Thoughts? Questions? Comments? Concerns?

I’m not even building this one!! I wish I could delete the thread! I’m actually in the process of building a 7mm BAM 50! The B50 seemed like a better base rifle to start from. Also, I’m converting a Condor SS to a .30, plus I have a Dawson .30 being built… so no sense building ANOTHER .30!!

Hatsan has a .30 and a .357 multi-shot for $765….why go to the trouble when you can get it ready made?

Hoot:

Just got my BAM50 yesterday and YES, THEY ARE STILL AVAILABLE. I’ve been wanting one for about 6-8 years now

209 bucks and solid as hell.

I just picked one up for $180…

In other news:
LET THE .30 CONDOR SS BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 I’ll be using a TJ .30 airgun barrel though, instead of the Lothar Walther.

I may pick up one of those too! I’ve been wanting one for a long time as well… Great minds, eh Ced??

I’m just going to build a .30 condor, using a TJ liner… it’ll have higher power, and higher number of shots… Thanks all for the help!

That’s like me taking my bored and stroked 124″ Harley to the dealer and tell them that my belt keeps slipping . They will tell me to go get fucked.

What does a Hardly-Ableson dealer behavior have to do with anything? Besides, they supported the VR1 and none of those remained stock for long.

The M10 does seem to have the valve capability to run a 30 cal to Daystate Wolverine energy levels. Figure 22″ of barrel at $5/inch and $60-90 to machine it to fit. Then a bolt to fit the .300 barrel.

The MRodAir folks do seem to be good at claiming stuff. Their energy drag race had one major entrant, and it came out well behind the .300 Marauder I built. It was indeed on par with my .22 Marauder…LOL
cheers,
Douglas

Bam 50 or 51 has a bigger receiver to fit a bigbore barrel, has( 4 screws ,qb has2, & airtube is bigger, has more air volume & also better trigger system. They are a clone to the old Daystate Huntsman , a proven design .HTH

Actually I just found the thread where he was advertising them for 469$ shipped for that build off / Xmas sale.

He just posted that the Xmas pricing is still good, posted on the yellow

I’d be having me a M10.

Mike will honor the 495 or whatever sale price he has…

Email him and chat.

Doug .. scammer??? What’s with that?

How much support is anyone gonna give yah on a gun that you buy and tear into and start modding.

I wouldn’t expect mike to give really any. Even though I know he’d help

495$ for that seems like a fair price for what yah get.

Sorry I was quoting his price from here, maybe it was a show special but Im sure he could sharpen his pencil on the website price..

Yep- I triple checked. Mrod’s site says $649.95… That’s still kinda pricey when a built QB might be had for $700 (maybe less). a base BAM 50 (if really still available) is only $210… it wouldn’t take too much to get it to shoot .30’s. A lot of tuning, that’s for sure! But that’s just time. So maybe $500 for a modded BAM? Most of that is in the barrel… Damn it. It’s a toss up between the QB and the BAM…. I’m really leaning towards a BAM.

On the Website they are $649.95.

M10 $499 = bolt mod, valve mod, add barrel of your choice… will still be cheaper than the others…

Oh, I plan on the condors being my slug guns Doug- I just sent you a PM regarding that! 😆 I don’t really want to use a M-10 because they cost too much. I didn’t know the BAM 50/51 rifles were still available! I thought they died off…

A PCP QB78 has been in my head for a while. For some reason I just like the look and balance of the QB’s… More so than a Disco, or Prod/17xx based rifle. Not sure why.

EDIT: I just looked over on Flying Dragon airguns… Those BAM 50’s look to be still available… Hmmmmmm….
