New Air Force Hunting Rifle
Got word from my secret source that Air Force is comming out with a new hunting rifle. According to CEO John McCaslin it will keep the AirForce’s
unique looks and feel. It will be the most powerful air rifle that they have ever produced. Is anyone thinking that its going to be a big bore rifle ?
What caliber will it be , will it be a single shot ( more than likely ) ? Well , we only have to wait until the SHOT SHOW that opens up in Las Vegas
on Jan. 20TH to find out and have all of our questions answered.

Do we think you could slide a 25 cal 24 inch barrel in there? maybe with a smaller bore tophat, some shims and a lighter spring to calm things down.
It’s legal for deer here in Missouri (.40 cal or higher). With our heavy woods and hills here in southern MO most shots are under 50 yards (my last deer was at 20 yards with a 30-06 😆 ). Depending on the actual performance specs it might have potential. 😯 I don’t really need pinpoint accuracy for deer but do prefer at least 450 fpe at the muzzle. The lighter the better dragging it up and down our Ozark foothills. Don’t care too much about noise hunting and don’t need much of a scope. I wonder how many shots? :4:

From the looks of it the side cocker is just to open the breech.
It’s more than likely the same extrusions they use now; they just changed the final machining process. but the breech area has less material taken out, and the scope rail above the loading port is thicker. At least they’re trying. After watching the vid, I’m not sure I like the new breech… these things need to hurry up and come out, so we can start making them better!! 😈 😈 😈

That thing is a beast for sure and I think that the 458 is a little large for my doings but…..
A 257 in that thing. …… that side cocker is pretty sweet.
Maybe they barrowed dougs valve design ?

Just in case you were wondering about the side lever… I’m not sure I like it. Dunno though. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Looking at the pictures again, it does look like this frame uses the newer trigger set up.

the main innovation of this rifle is its pivoting side cocking lever……side cockers have been around since the first Air Force rifles with this leverage system it makes a 20 pound spring feel more like 5 to 8 pounds…..
Considering in Texas you can not use an airgun to kill anything other then a squirrel that will be one messy kill…lol

Includes, but is not limited to feral hog, Aoudad sheep, Axis deer, Elk, Sika deer, Fallow deer, Blackbuck antelope, Nilgai antelope, and Russian boar. Exotic fowl refers to any avian species that is not indigenous to this state, including ratites (emu, ostrich, rhea, cassowary, etc.).

I’m thinking a 7mm, or .357 would be a better choice than a .45, if the PSI is still at 3k… Could also reduce the barrel length down a couple of inches and shroud it! I’d just as soon have Doug build me a rifle; which would be a much better shooter- than to buy this thing.
