Q:

kricket power adjuster?

Hi everyone!

I’m new to this forum, but have lurked from time to time. Thanks for having me! I have a question about the crickets power tune. Is the screw, or Allen key at the rear of the receiver for the spring adjustment? Is it the preload or travel adjustment? How does it work for you guys that use it?

Thanks ,
Matt

Attaboy ! It wasn’t that hard 😉
The best way to learn your gun and its workings.

quote NorCal Matt:

So I tore apart the gun and adjusted the regulator, turning the screw about 1/4 turn CW. Then I pumped and pumped. 2 hrs later I am shooting JSBs at 915. That might look really nice with the new 30gr JSB. MY 80 yard group was also much nicer this time around. I may pull it all apart again, but I need to forget some of that pumping first.

On a side note, I think it was a good exercise for me to take some of the mistique out of working on the rifle.

Thanks for all the help!

I agree about the experience part. They are really simple to dismantle and work on.

And check the valve tension. I’d lower the reg nevertheless.

The new 30+ grain JSB. The only brand your Cricket will shoot good with.
Forget Kodiacs and other foofoo – the barrel is made for JSB’s.

Ok, I ran some pellets through and it looks like the regulator drops off around 115 bar (just going by the barrel gauge). Is this normal? Also, it was shooting the JSBs in the 970s. I’m not totally averse to having that kind of power. What if I slowed it down with a heavier pellet? It was shooting Kodiak match (31gr) at around 920. Any decent and reasonably priced pellets that are heavier?

Is my logic flawed, or does it seem reasonable?

Thanks for all the help!

Ok, I’ll make a phone call before wrenching on it any more. Thanks for the advise

Also, how do I take the shroud off? I tried spinning it off CcW, but it seems like it’s never coming off.

Yes, I heard sometime it can be a pain to remove.

You should also contact the place you bought it from first to see if they can replace it if damage occurs when you remove it.

I believe eelect had an issues with it also, not sure if he got his off safely without damaging it.
So be careful, if you lie the gun sideways with clean hands and shroud you should be able to remove with a quick and firm twist , CCW.
If not using a tool like a pipe strap wrench with the shroud surface protected with lairs of tape, turn with caution not to break or bend the inner thread attachment point.

Thanks, I’ll check those threads out! How do I know what my regulator is set to? Is it when it falls off?

I will try adjusting the HST, hopefully that’s the fix!

Have you try to adjust the HST ?
Sometimes the speed/velocity can be reduced by increasing it CW.
Where is your regulator set to, 130 bar ?

Some good reads on the 25 cal regulator setting bar pressures. Note the regulator pressure setting that will give Kings the speed/velocity you what.

other cool read as well, something to compare your gun to.

Ok, I’ll check out the videos. If I can’t get it figured out, I’ll send it to Ernest.
Thanks for the help! It’s a little disappointing when you spend this kind of money, I was hoping to just be able to get out and shoot”

When I last checked, it was pushing JSB kings in the 950s. Is the video on his YouTube channel? Does he have a website?

The more so I’ve been seeing it to be Kings @ 950 fps, to be an out of box setting which is to high.

If you are not familiar with or a bit leery to under go the adjustment of your regulator and you have purchased the gun from WWAG.
I would consider a Ernest tune or send him your reg to set at the speed you’d like.

Too fast ! You need to adjust the reg so it tops between 890 – 910 . That will get rid of the shifting POI. The barrel has to be correctly aligned and torqued nevertheless.
Ernest is on YT. No Website.

Thanks for the help.

Ernest has video for that too. What power level and with what Pellet is yours running at ?
