Running Review of the Evanix MAX-ML .44 cal BullPup

Took the gun out the box mounted a 4x scope and went to zero the gun at 30 yards.

Now the Gun feels good, not light but short and balanced, the sidelever is smooth and light, the trigger surprised me, I was expecting it to be heavier, I wouldn’t want it any lighter than it is.

The gun isn’t Backyard friendly Of course happy.gif but it has a mice deep report and the ping was surprisingly low.

Pyramyd sent me a box of ammo

But what I’m really interested in testing are the EPP/UG and the Roundball.

This gun is a relatively low powered .45 so I want to shoot the lightes ammo possible, on top of that those 2 rounds are cheap to buy happy.gif

Back to sighting in, I was using the Pyramyd ammo.

the lower string is 6 rounds to walk the scope to POA, the last 2 shots are the ones just under the + almost in the same hole, I didn’t adjust for the last shot.

I than refilled and shot the 6 rounds Mag.

Now, I’m already extremely happy, 12 shots out of this gun, no barrel cleaning just fill and shoot, if those other rounds are more accurate and the gun breaks in nice we have something here.

Ho yeah, 6 shots from 200 BAR end up at 130 BAR

I’ll clean the barrel next and start testing for serious accuracy, and than Chrono testing.

I’m already stoked on this gun, solid, short, functions perfect,…looking good.

Very nice Manny! I gotta get me one of those big bores for these East Texas hogs! I’ve shot 3 so far. 2 earholed and one between the eyes. The .25 is OK for that and at close range, but with a good .45 you indeed have the flexibility of getting sloppy a bit. Would love to be able to take a shot behind the shoulder.

Today I was hunting a series of very narrow steep Gulches.

The .45 BullPup is perfect for this kind of hunt where things happen fast and at close range.

As it happens I was slowly making my way down a Gulch when I heard something on the slope to my left, luckily I was right by a tree so I braced myself and immediately I noticed this very nice saw coming my way,

Not much time to think so as soon I was comfortable I took the shot, she was quartering to me with the head down coming downhill so I put the shot at the place where the skull turns, I wouldn’t never took this kind of shot with a small bore, but the extra power of the .45 gave me the option.

She was coming down the trail to the left of the tree I’m leaning into

Manny…just ignore him. He wasn’t talking about the pig when he mentioned “What an animal.” Although I’ll admit if I ran across you in the deep woods I’d probably shoot first and ask questions later. You are one spooky looking dude in your hunting outfit, prowling around back there in the jungle! I’ll bet you don’t even need a gun to kill a good sized hog…just jump out of the bushes, with a large knife in your teeth, and the damn thing would probably have a heart attack on the spot. I know I would!!!

Today I was testing my newly constructed Bamboo tree blind and I was carrying the MAX-ML .45 loaded with the .454 Hornady Roundballs

Good thing I made this a 360 degrees blind because the winds today where horrific.

I heard and spotted this very nice meat saw come down a trail, the backside of the blind has limited shooting lanes, she was coming from my right, slowly and steady, sniffing the ground but never really stopping.

when she got level I was hoping at some point she would stop since the moving shot is not exactly my favorite option happy.gif

However she didn’t stop so I had to make the quick decision, I continued following her with the Crosshairs in the temple and when I felt good I pulled the trigger.

Immediately I thought, “why didn’t you shoot at the neck ? ” ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

I’ve been wanting to take the neck shot for sometimes but I instinctively I always go for the brain >:(

Anyway all I had to do next was to go and pick her up

The .454 Roundball at 180 FPE sure is devastating

I’m really liking this gun ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Today I’ll focus on what I don’t like about this Pup.

I really don’t like how slick the forearm is nor do I like the square feeling of it, also I’m not a fan of the silver sidepanels,

So, of course I had to do something about it happy.gifhappy.gifhappy.gif

I covered all those parts with Matte black vinyl, I added 3 weaver rails to the forearm so I can put a Magpul angled grip, a Bypod and any lights if needed.

I like it much better like this.
