Q:

Is Vulcan affected by POI shift?

We know the story from Cricket. Is the situation the same in Vulcan? The barrel is clamped.

That figures. .. 🙂

No Ville it’s not Smack my ass and call me Sally…….

Smack – effekt ? I thought that was something for Heroine addicts. A humble Finn learns new things here every day.

Jan, it’s all about the SMACK effect, faster it’s flying the bigger smack there is……

40- 45J is a “middle power” PCP.

But why wants up to 1000fps or 285mps in air gun ???? If I want so powerful gun I take the powder gun not airgun. It´s true 16J or sub 12flbs air gun is a weak. It´s good for 30meters/35yards but if you are long range shooter is sub 12ftlbs air gun useless 🙁
I have one very good sub 12ftlbs gun HW100 in perfectly tuned for efficiency I get from 200bar to 80bar 160 shots but up to 30meters or 50m but no wind otherwise is a pain.
So, I´m fan of middle power of air gun :4:

The air consumption increases drastically once you go past 285 mps. That’s what i’ve learned with several Crickets in different calibers, a couple of EdGuns and i quess it’s the same story with the Vulcan and other PCP’s as well.

I’ve had my Bobcat turned up to 1000 fps with NO difference in accuracy, but the shot count went down. So I turned it back to 900 fps………see I listened.

I hate all scientific crap so no thanks. I don’t know about any max BC but that’s how it’s running according the chrono and the ruler.
I just wanted to question your theory in which you state that 12 fpe is somehow better than full power – the power the Vulcan is designed to shoot at. It doesn’t make any sense to me, that’s all.
I actually took another look on my notes and the BC was .037 and not .0375. Idk where i got that last five from 🙂

Ville you are saying the CZ barrel has got 930 vo for 15.9grain max BC?
if your gun is running at the max BC of your pellet, then sweet.

if you want to get really scientific you can try to draw the BC curve for us, wll not for me I don’t shoot that pellet

I do listen but you apparently don’t. Have i ever said anything about any need for 1000 fps ?
I have nothing to gain going over 285 mps with 16gr pellets. Why ? Since the Vulcan is build and designed to work in that velocity.
I measured the velocity at the muzzle, then at 15,25,40 and 50m and let the Strelok do the math. I also measured the pellet drop from 40m to 50m.

To gain little is not the case here. I have nearly three times the energy yours is set at, much straighter trajectory and i still get a great amount of shots per fill from 210-120B.
Why the hell would i ever want to go down to 16 J/ 12 fpe ?? Don’t need more than i have either and if i do i grab a powderburner then.

never mind.

A BC ( not ABCDE 🙂 ) varys from barrel to barrel and gun to gun. My Vulcan ie has the BC at 0.0375 with the 16gr AA ammo at 285 mps/ 930’ish.
I suspect – strongly – that yours with the same ammo will reach that. Or ??

rsterne seems to know what he is talking about

the classic JSB is a shuttle cock design. it mean if I talk bedmington analogy, does not matter how hard you hit it, it will slow down to a certain speed quite quickly. so whats the point of hitting it too hard?

I think this is the wrong thread.

A question : How would 800 fps be better “BC wise” than ie 930 fps ??
