Matador .25 r3m long
Hi guys just had a bad experience with a kalibr cricket .25
My question is how got is the edgun matador .25 r3m long out of the box?? I’ve heard so many people with issues saying they will need tuning to get them right with lots of other issues..there are also lots that say they are good.
I’m over in England and have found a place to purchase the gun but what I do not want to do is have the same hassle as the cricket which had an air leak that just would not go and spent more time in the shop than in my hands..cricket was very consistent from shot to shot and was very accurate with jsb Kings 25.4 grain and H&N barracuda 31 grains
I own a daystate air ranger .22 at 40ft lbs which I love and is spot on but I’d like the extra knock down power of .25
The gun is a lot of money to spend and have issues straight away and there is not many people over here that will tune the gun for me..I’ve not worked on my air rifles ever as over here it’s easy to just send back to manufacturer..please can you advise me weather or not it’s worth me buying an edgun or not?? My 25 pushes JSB 25s at 940 fps for appx 72-75 shots on the reg. SD is 2.33 and Max spread is 9fps.
I’ve got over 80k pellets through it on the original Orings still. I did change over from the SS to multi shot kit at around 50k pellets.

What ft lbs is achievable on the edgun matador r3m .25 long?? My cricket was running 50ft lbs with jsb 25 grain pellets
They will fit. Here’s medium mounts on an Edddie. Might want to dump that china glass, the gun is so capable it deserves better.
See that number on my Chrony? That’s a whole shot string extreme spread!

I still have my picatinny mounts I used on my kalibr cricket will these mounts fit the edgun matador or will I need to change?? My current mounts are medium mounts for my hawke air max scope 4x16x50 which I’m sure will be a great combo

believe me with my Matador .22cal Long version 910 FPS JSB 18.13gr (33FPE) have killed doves at 156, 135, 133, 125, 121, 105, 97,.. meters, (so many but don’t remember) measuring with Leica RangeMaster 1600-B, “the Best Range Finder in the market for hunting purposes” and have head shots at 90 meters as well,,,
with my Matador .25cal i have killed two pheasants at 87 meters and farther but don’t remember well ,,,
take this from me,,,if you want the perfect PCP especially for hunting ,,,then Edgun is the best ,,, (as per my point of view)….but again i prefer STD or Short versions for Hunting ,,, if you are a big guy,,,then it is ok to take the long one,,, :2cents:

I’m sure it will be a great hunting gun..my only concerns were people saying the regs are not great out the box due to the thick grease that’s used..smack down power will be awesome as my daystate air ranger at 40ft lbs with 21 grain pellets is plenty..I’ve taken corvids out to a recent kill of 138 yards measured with range finder..have achieved many shots over 100 yards on the right day with perfect conditions…I hope the edgun at these sort of ranges will make it easier
Tony doesn’t have any .25 long now. But he has STD for good price. I’m waiting for the new moderator review on .25. I believe it’s a really good choise for hunting
That is right…the most durable & compact bolt is Edgun among PCPs….there is no chance to stuck on your clothe or anything and break …
I know Edgun bolt is not smooth like others..but more durable and the best design for hunting situation. ….even all Edgun parts are simply designed not complicated like others. ….each owner can disassemble it and reassembled himself ….
Thanks for the reply”the gun will be used for longer range hunting and the odd time plinking on paper targets..I spend hours in the field and mainly shoot from prone position so I chose the .25 long because of the extra muzzle speed and also shot count is higher
I already have .22 at 40ft lbs but it’s very long and heavy”it’s an air ranger
I’m glad you rate the edgun because I love it’s look and also prefer the bolt rather than side leaver on the cricket

The Matadors are made especially for Hunting, they are very durable and very accurate ,,,, and i cannot find any better PCPs then Matadors that suitable for hunting situations ,,, they are very compact,,,, especially the STD and the Short versions are unique for hunting trips ,,,,
i have 2 Long .22cal and 1 STD .22cal and had a .25cal Long,,,,after one month one of my friends came and took my .25cal ,,, unfortunately i couldn’t complete my honeymoon with her comfortably

but i was ignored all other my Matadors until my friend took it from me,,,
now,,, i am in love with my .22cal STD ,,, i have installed Edgun scope 10X44 SF ,,both comes with each other,,, she is deadly accurate ,,, and the damn Edgun scope is quite perfect for hunting ,,,the reticle will allow you to hit your targets very fast within 70 mtrs … no need to Stelok ,,, i zeroed at 70 mtrs then put it in 36 mtrs ,,now i have a good flat trajectory from 20 mtrs up to 45 mtrs … above that ,,, the reticle has a good selections for each 5 mtrs ,,,,
after using my STD ,,,i ordered a STD .25cal and .22cal Short ,,, i believe the best gun is the Matador for hunting ,,,
for shooting ,,,i also recommend it ,,, but i haven’t tried any groups with my .25cal Matador,,, but i have enough for my .22cal see this thread (http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27845)
so, if you want to take my words ,,,don’t worry ,,,, just go ahead ,,, and buy a STD .25cal or .22cal …

RomeoAlpha”the reason why the cricket went back was the fact that the gun was a new purchase and under warranty..the shop was at fault for not sorting out the issues.
For the limited amount of time it was in my hands the cricket shot very well and was pellet on pellet at 60 yards..one ragged hole groups at 52 ft lbs..
Thanks to all that have replied I’m looking forward to learning the gun..I guess that’s all part of it being able to fix any issues yourself
I have had to replace a regulator o-ring and the regulator washers were over oiled/greased from the factory and I had to take the regulator apart to clean them. The nice thing about the design of the Edgun is the simplicity of the design and how easy it is to service. If the Cricket wasn’t right for you, the Edgun Matator probably isn’t either. If you haven’t already, watch Ed’s video almost everything you want to know about Edgun Matador:
Common you had to know the EDgun whore was going to come along (me) and tell you the EDgun will cure AIDS. My EDgun out of the box has cured one blind person, made a gay guy go straight and it once got up early and made me breakfast.
On a serious note I have owned or I do own all of the modern bullpups except the Daystate. The EDgun is one of the best. I have 3 matadors, a .22 , .25 and a .30. They all came out of the box shooting well and they got better over time. I cannot deny that EDguns have had quality control issues and some people on this board have been driven mad by owning an EDgun. As a manner of fact Sir Ville used to be a teetotaler before owning an EDgun. Now he is a drunkin Fin. There is no reason to be intimidated by the possibility of tuning your own gun. The EDgun is simple. They are simple, efficient and accurate. I have been very happy with my matadors. I owned an EDgun at the same time as the Cricket. I found the Eddie to have better fit, finish and balance so I sold the cricket. I say go for it.

That’s impressive figures..my cricket was running 945 fps with jsb 25.39 grains.it would run in the 960 fps but I found better groups running slightly slower..
The cricket was very accurate and consistent on the chrono but I did not like the overall finish on the cricket”would was very poor..metal finish was also poor with marks on the shroud/air cylinder and scope rail..magazine was a pain to load although 12 shots in .25 were great..cocking leaver was not smooth either and if you was not careful you would easily mark/dent breach side plate..gun however did feel great when shouldered and would have been a joy to shoot but just to many issues out the box so gun went bk under warranty and money refunded
Would I have another cricket”NO I WOULD NOT..shot great and very accurate but I want an overal package and that was not it
Looking forward to the edgun r3m .25 long just hope that it has a decent piece of walnut on it
