Q:

reading this Mutant forum

I think I’m missing out by not owning a (shorty) Mutant. Lots of nice things being said, like it’s air efficiency, trigger, etc. The main thing for me is the quietness of the gun, as my neighbors are “danger-close” and audible stealth is a benefit for keeping the peace. Also, the Shorty seems just the right size for backyard shooting. Thanks guys. I keep reading the posts in this thread, and liking what I’ve read so far. Any down side or quirks to the gun?

Here is the most recent pic of Keyser I could find. Now you tell me why he can’t shoot for shit.

a few people seem to think that the Mutant has very good ergonomics (when compared to other bullpups?). That, plus a very good trigger, the very good efficiency of the regulator, and the quietness of the report, can all be compelling points when making a decision. I hope the barrel issue gets sorted out before too long. I guess the standard for accuracy will be groups at 50 yards as posted here regardless of what barrel is finally selected. I’d buy that combo of features.

I bet your right.

Would be nice if they upgraded the stock too. I throw $ at anyone who could make a nice wood skeleton stock or better yet carbon fiber skeleton stock.

Good write up.

Guess If you just wanna put the mutant on display…

by skeleton stock I’m gonna assume your talking about a cricket like stock. The cricket feels like your holding a 2 x4 from your local lumber yard. If you have ever shot and held a mutant you wouldn’t wanna change the feel.

The stock simply fits. Very good in the ergonomics dept.

I’ve yet to try the manual indexing. Tony is not sending me a whole new breech, and i’m not sending mine in for a fix. I believe I’ll be getting a new pusher arm, but I will wait and see. Don’t hold me to anything until I can report back on a solution.

Darryl index by hand like I told you Keysers busting nutz. He can bearly hit the barn.

Hey Darryl,

Are you getting a whole new breech from Tony R or are you sending in yours for a fix ?

Yes, push the leave the lever down. Index by hand when it clicks push the bolt in.

OAk, so you’re leaving the anti-indexing lever down? I thought that was that made the clicking noise, but I’ll try your method until my dealer sends the fix (no, not heroin!)

Darryl I own a .25 EDgun it is one of my favorite guns to shot. However I do not use the auto indexing. I manually Index it by hand and the pellet lines up every time. When you hear the click it is indexed perfectly. Try it. At first it bothered me but not anymore. I love the gun.

I’m not doggy the Edgun they’re extremely great guns, but I had an old Benji pumper bolt action in my youth and cocked it 10 million times ….. so for me it’s old.
I know you’re having trouble with your Eddie, but once that’s resolved it’s a shooter Sir hang on to it till then !!

The reason you don’t need to full cock it to clean the barrel is that it has a very short hammer engagement stroke, it’s about the last inch or so on the side lever travel ………… it’s sweeeeeeeet ! :winkn:

Yes, my Eddie is a bit problematic with the (continuing) indexing issue. That issue certainly is a huge distraction from the shooting experience. I’m having to be conscious of whether I felt the pellets being shoved past the magazine’s o-ring or not. Maybe having a Mutant little brother soak up some of the attention will make the Eddie act right?
Also, a reduced price for a CZ-barreled Mutant? In a capitalism-based society? I believe in miracles(?). :winkn:
