Q:

Edgun Morana .25 in the House

Quick update out of the box test:

1. OAL is 48″ and 9.5 lbs as shown (click on photo to enlarge)—it is a breech shooter like they said it would be.
2. didn’t know it had a off set mod, just by shooting air it’s vary quiet–most quiet Edgun I shot to date—and I shot all of them.
3. 2nd stage brake has a lot of travel before it goes off, so unpredictable out of the box with this one. didn’t even removed the stock yet to see how adjustable the trigger is.
4.this one has an over rotation mag index with an empty mag.
5.stiff cocking bolt like the BP
6. the air tube is setting on the bottom of the barrel/air tube band–almost free floating barrel, test for POI shifting in different AT pressure later.
7. love the rear stock elevation rod that extend 3 3/4″ long
8. the adjustable cheek piece—inst adjustable on the fly, you add washer that is included to raise the cheek to your liking.

That’s all for now!!

Thanks Ed for making this right!!

installed and tested the replacement HSTA 2nd on the photo without any adjustment on the reg—> now I can adjust the speed to 995-1000 fps with .25g and still have 2 threads engagement. but lowered to 890fps per customer request. I’m sure she can shoot the 34g about 900fps–that’s the next test. accuracy is great at 80y with winds of 10-15 mph I was getting 1′ group.

key not in lowering the speed on the morana is to compress the HS CW.

As for the speed. There was a mistake while assembling the guns. The mistake with wrong siz of spring tentioner. Tony will have the right ones soon and replace them. Sorry for that!

With the best regards

Ed

I would like to buy one please ?
Can u send with my valve what do those run earnest pretty kool I been in need of one like that
I like to probably (over tighten) I’m sure but it’s a matter of life and death that my hst never moves :4:

Shroud, trigger and breech removal / reassembly videos:

Hey earnest is the hst below the original made of steal??

Yes, stainless!

Hey earnest is the hst below the original made of steal??

Niiiiiice gun mate, congrats!

put some lead on air as soon as possible!

Ernest,

I wonder how the 33 grain JSB MKII Heavies would do with the highest velocity you’ve attained with your HST?

I’m curious results on paper for the Morana and speed over 900fps.

It still amazes me how much Ernest knows about airguns. If he designed one, I’m sure it would be mechanically flawless given his knowledge.

Here’s the shot string without any adjustment:
space temp: 65 degrees
Fill pressure: 200b
end pressure: 125b
#shots 42
pellets: kings 25.4g none sorted

high: 866
low: 832
ES: 34fps

back out HSTA till one thread engagement speed up to 880fps this is your max speed at factory setting.

if you tighten the HSTA from stock setting the speed goes down

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

now spec when a longer HSTA is used====see photo.

the longer HSTA is threaded by one thread.

fill 200b-130b
#shots 39
high: 942
low: 927
ES: 15

the cocking effort was so much easier with less HS tension.

in stock form the HS has to much compression unable to expand and generate speed, when using the longer HSTA I had over 1/4″ of spring compression before I can get it to thread in, so a longer HSTA is need for further testing to get max speed without looking at set reg pressure or increasing the reg pressure. so a longer HSTA is easier to get higher speed without taking the rifle apart.

with the stock HSTA this morana is limited to or about 880fps with kings

Same here, I much prefer the one without the eccentric moderator. I’m sure it is quiet enough for me. I also have a Cricket rifle and love it, but the Morana to me is built to be a long, heavy, bench rifle, and supposed to be designed for long range accuracy. It’s appearance, I’m sure is supposed to resemble a Sniper Rifle.

something about Morana. I think it is almost the same as long matator.

I actually prefer the look of the one without the eccentric moderator. The dark woodstock looks badass too.

However I still think the Cricket rifle edges out the Morana in the looks department. It just needs a full shroud mod.
