Shroud Venting mod for Cricket
Ok, so I had a brief conversation with a guy about the Vent mod. It is hard to find and compile all threads and whatnot so can you who has written about this give me the links to this. You can also feel free to simply post whatever info you have on the subject.
Anything about quieting down the cricket is helpful, hammer slap, vent mod, other mods that makes the cricket quieter.

I got the sheets of thin foam on , I did a fast job on the 25 Cricket, I think it does make the gun a little quitter than my old foam that I had , The old stuff was insulation for PVC pipes , This new thin stuff is for noise damping ,
Pictures coming , They sent me two sheets enough to screw up a few times and still do a couple of guns :smilen:

Here are my 2 cents on moderators.It is in Polish, but you can just watch.Diference between standard and offset moderator.

But I could be wrong,
It widely known that it will help accuracy if the pellet leaves the muzzle under a vacuum but with my Edgun I closed off the back porting holes with NO difference in accuracy, tested @ 120 and 180 yards without a deference to be seen or measured.
But it did help with the quietness, with and without firing it with a pellet !
On an Edgun, it’s quieter with a pellet then it’s dry firing it without.
BUT, on other Airguns it did show some difference in accuracy but very hard data in which to tell if it’s a noticeable/related difference ….
….. theoretically yes, but for me notably/quantitatively unknown ?

Good point, is there no way to quiet down the hammer slap apart from ascarissuis way? Or is there perhaps a better looking way of doing it?
Be careful drilling holes in factory shrouds. My cousin bought an already modified Compact Cricket with 4 small holes drilled in the first 1″ of the shroud, on the receiver end. Two holes on each side. While shooting, we thought it was noticeably louder than my Compact’s factory unmodified shroud.
We then tried a test with both guns shooting the same velocities (15.9 gr. jSB’s at around 900 fps). Both guns were checked with a decibel meter and the drilled shroud was a full 10 db’s louder. We then removed the shroud and wrapped/ covered the holes with a few turns of black electrical tape and it quieted down to the same readings as mine.
I also have a Colibri that had the factory shroud vent holes slightly enlarged. Checked that gun against one of mine with factory sized holes and there was no change at all. Both guns were shooting the same FPS and read the same on the db meter.
Your results may vary, and to be sure , I’m no expert, just relaying what I’ve found with modified shrouds.

5-7mps just with larger tp on the barrel or with holes in regulator spacer?
I have same experience after enlarged barrel TP to 4.4mm. I got 276mps with 130bar on regulator. With 125bar on regulator I have maximum 273mps.
I got 5 to 7 m/s without changing the spring tension.

That’s great! I’m sure it wont make the report any louder and I cant wait to see how it turned out. I remember that PVC material was a little hard on the eyes.
