Reg piston o-ring
There are 2 o-rings inside the regulator, what material should they be? NBR 70 or 90? Hard or soft? My take is the harder NBR 90 will not wear out as fast but at the same time it might not keep a tight seal so the reg will leak…

It was the same with my old .177 cricket, flat and hard as a boner
I don’t know if this is still the case with the newer Crickets, but when I replaced the seal on the air gauge on mine (my Cricket is one of the first generation ones with the serial number 000734), I noticed that the o-ring was plastic and not rubber. The seal was cracked and brittle. I’m unsure whether it was rubber to begin with, or if it were it hardened to the point that it became hard like plastic. There wasn’t any softness whatsoever to it. Anyway, I replaced it with a proper rubber o-ring.
I changed this guy too. When you have reg tester don’t worry you set it right. If not you could measure with the caliper and set it back…
Yep, only the inside reg o-rings left
Agree with Greg. Cricket did you check already o-ring in manometer? When I had leak It was not rubber but almost hard plastic like washer under manometer…
The reg “tell-tale” hole is the hardest to figure out it could be any one of the 2 piston or 2 large outside O-rings that is leaking.
It could be the outside high pressure side O-ring that’s the leaker, damage from install.
Also when install the O-ring onto the reg (mostly happens on large diameter) be careful such that the O-ring doesn’t go on twisted.

Jan, my reg is leaking. My gun was manufactured 2013 and now it is 2016.
I have already changed the manometer o-ring with my homemade gauge remover but the reg “tell-tale” hole is leaking. About 1 bar an hour and the inside o-rings are the only ones that have not been replaced. Also my fillprobe had really damaged o-rings so needed new ones
Read somewhere that the initial breakaway torque of dynamic seals is better with softer compounds.
That would make 70 better than 90 keeping other parameters equal.
Jan, that is called time proven …….. 😉

On my cricket were all o-rings N70 from factory almost 3 years!!! I never changed any expect barrel probe o-ring. When I got leak from manometer o-ring I decided change all o-rings after 3 years! I do not know why I should changed them early 🙄 My new o-rings are all N70.
and an added note, after a rebuild / an O-ring change … … . .it’s a good custom to top fill your gun and let it sit overnight to make all the O-rings make their seal …….

Thanks for the replys :8:
They’re are some PCP gurus that believe PCP should not ever need to use anything more then A70 hardness anywhere ….. .. . period.
In both of my Crickets I’ve used only A70’s and had no issues with longevity and or leaks.
The Crickets are also very easy to rebuild if one needs to anyway.
I did try A75 between the high pressure side of the AT and reg but it didn’t seem to have any added extra seal.

I use urethane D70 O rings for the Mutant regulators….
Urethane rings are more abrasion resistant and can take the quick cycling of the regulator piston…..

Exactly guys!! I changed it for proper N70 o-ring.
