Q:

Cleaning question, shroud unscrew?

Does the shroud unscrew from the barrel like a Cricket, I Know the end cap unscrews ,
I thought I would just clean the Mutant like the Cricket,
I could not get the shroud to unscrew for nothing.

Putting them back in from the front is , Bell shape, long end goes in first, small cylinder, Bell shape, small cylinder, bell shape then long cylinder, Then the cap screws on the end,
Make since?

iride, what order are your baffles in?

It doesn’t seem to make much of a difference if any which order it’s in when I swapped them around.

Mines is long, short and short ………… it’s the arrangement in which it came in.

Wow not sure on that one , as I was very careful to replace them in the order that came out.
Now all my cone shaped ones had the same size hole, I was told someone had different size holes some smaller and some larger.
Now I just eye balled mine but my eye balls are pretty good, :smilen:
My shroud parts were really not that dirty, Its the barrel that freakled me out, I spent three hours cleaning that sucker…
And it went right back to zero after the first shot,
Not even my Crickets will do that, and I clean my Crickets with 15 patches , The Mutant took over 250 Plus patches to get it clean…
The guy I bought this gun from ask me to put a positive on his site, I can not sigh in on the yellow for some reason, I bad mouth someone ,
But I dam well would not put a positive on some one that sold me gun with a barrel with 10 pounds of lead in it.
In my book its almost called abuse.
I promise you I would not pay top dollar for a gun with this dirty barrel in it.
I know there is a lot of people on this site I can buy a gun from and when I get it , Its going to be like new,
I know just pissing in the wind,
Mike

Does the baffle arrangement make any difference? I wasn’t paying attention to the order coming out, and just put them back short-long-short.

Them look like some pretty heavy pellets in 22 cal,
I have not got around to trying the 18gr JSBs , The 16gr polymags shoot good , I got a bunch to shoot up so I just stopped for now.

After cleaning , Did not even bother with targets , First shot not sure where it went but the Sparrow took off like a rocket.
Next four shots , Three dead sparrows at 38 yards and one died at 48 yards.
16gr polymags still doing good,
Mike

I bought some of these http://www.airgundepot.com/jsb-ultra-shock-22-caliber-hollow-point-hunting-pellets-150.html

and they seem to shoot surpringly good out of my listone…. at 40 yards

I am just glad I got it off, I thought for sure there would be signs of some kind of lock tight on the threads , But they were clean.
Never thought of my self as a body builder for the last 40 years, Just a gym rat, Done all the good stuff to, 😛 😛 😛
Fixen to turn 60 and backing off the big weight now, Made my goal a weeks ago 500 lb. beach press and 300 lb. dumbbell press,
Time to start training with the girls at the gym, I did Video my last big lifts ,
Now back to guns
BRIAN Did you ever clean the barrel? :fishing: :fishing:
Not sure how this gun is going to shoot Monday with the 10LBS of lead out of the barrel. Dam thing even felt lighter when I picked it up. :winkn:
I bet a 177 cal would have been tight in there,
Mike

Nice work there Mike …..

You need to lift heavier metal and incorporate some of those wrist curls into your workout routine.
But as you may known from being a bodybuilder yourself is that them wrist curls are for gays, just saying.

Got the shroud unscrewed,
I wrapped Black electrical tape around the very end about 10 times , Big enough so I could get a good grip.
That baby was on there tight,
This is the dirtiest barrel I have ever cleaned,
Now I am the third owner, I bought from Cris and Cris bought it from Brian..
I went through 120 patches and more as I used some old T shirts I cut up,,,,
I am not sure how a 22 Pellet even fit through that barrel….
Mine looked Like GKUs
Mike

I got one of those rubber things you twist lids off with, I twisted so hard I thought I was going to warp the shroud,
Late, I will sleep on it tonight ,
I do not want to bend or break anything,
Mike

mike make sure that your barrel clamps are tight….. take off your scope. Wrap your hands around the dam shroud and twist it off… it can’t be that tight I’m sure brian had it apart at one point.

Where is this front ring bracket, I do not see any screws anywhere, It looks like it just unscrews like the Cricket shroud?
Thanks
Mike

quote donnyfl:

You have a different shroud then me GKU. Mike yours is probably like mine. You have to unscrew the 4 screws in the front ring bracket, then you can unscrew the shroud. My shroud actually has a long tip at the rear same OD as the barrel that is held by the first ring bracket.

The LDC can unscrews, u might try to push the tip/front of the can over just a little bit to one side this will decrease the friction over to one side only instead and should loosen up while turning it CCW.

U might want to remove your scope if it has a large objective to get a better grip on the can.
