Q:

Some scopes I owned

This is copied from another thread, if you have any questions about my opinion about these scopes or want to know why I sold them just ask :fishinghole:

I’ve owned these scopes:

UTG Swat 3-12 – poor turrets but surprisingly nice scope for the money, very heavy for what it is.

Delta Optical Titanium 6-24×42 ao – nice glass up to about 20x but not higher, lightweight at only 500 grams but boring standard mildot reticle. Great turrets.

Hawke SW 8-32×56 – Huge scope and weighs a ton, turrets are crappy but warranty is Good. Way to big and heavy for a pup

Hawke SW Tactical 8,5-25×42 – better in weight and size yet still very heavy, mine was defective. Turrets are crappy.

Delta Optical Titanium 4,5-30×50 – good scope, great glass and really nice turrets, reticle MCZII good for paper punch.

Delta Optical Titanium 4,5-14×44 FFP – great scope, light for a FFP and good turrets, clarity and brightness is superb. But reticle is too damn thick at anyting above 10x.

The best turrets in order of how they feel:

Delta 6-24
Delta 4,5-30
Delta 4,5-14
Hawke SW
UTG

I currently own no scopes, they are all sold and I have ordered 2 SWFA 12×42 Fixed power scopes with the Milquad reticle. They are made in japan like the Delta series.

Weight of the Deltas if I remember correctly

6-24 – 500 grams
4,5-30 – 764 grams
4,5-14 – 667 grams

Weight of the Hawke Sidewinders

8-32 – 990 grams
8,5-25 – can’t remember

As you can see I am still looking for “my” scope. At the moment I just want something nice and robust that will simply work, aka Fixed power. No need to check what magnification you are at and save weight.

Sorry, working the nightshift until midnight. The scopes are at the local gas station ready for pickup. I will inform you tomorrow when I have retrieved them and looked through them

So can you tell me if it is any good?

I have already recieved them lol. Let us know if they made it through with your friend alright.

If you are Lucky I might put the other One for sale when I get them. I only have One gun. But maybe I like them so much I’ll Keep em both, we’ll see

I have a friend on vacation in Texas and he can bring it home. Have you got your shipping sorted? Maybe you would like to get it “my way”?

I just paid for two SWFA SS 12×42 MQuad scopes with sunshades and flip ups. Can’t wait 😛

Hey Cricket! From where did you order?

Hej!

Yes very light, great turrets as well, but I did not fancy the standard mildot reticle

delta optica titanium 6-24×42 is very intersting – cheap, 10m focusable, light (500g), good optics but unfortunately not side focus. if side focus this would be my ideal scope!

Nice, I’m guessing my next scope will be a March. Having owned quite a few scopes now I feel “go big or go home” if ever I get a new one

I guess it was longer ago than 3 years. lol These guys did their more extensive testing on high-end tactical scopes ($1500+) after us.

Glad to see they put Bushnell’s and Vortex on the bottom for optics. Surprised the March didn’t do better but we never had one to rate.

The S&B at the top is no surprise.

Tactical Scopes: Field Test Results Summary & Overall Scores

I think I mentioned some of the results on here. Finding it might be a challenge. It was for my local range/shooting club rather than a forum (they funded it). A camera shop tech guy did some of the testing (like brightness). We used resolution patterns for clarity but the shop checked for consistency across the entire lens. They also measured POI change with mag adjustments. I will try to dig it up although most of the models have been updated at this point. I know we found that the Japanese glass was the best. I remember the Zeiss being clear but a bit dimmer in low light than say the SIghtron or S&B. They tried to compare them on the same settings etc., but the specs were slightly different on some attributes like lens diameter. The tech guy also checked for aberrations and optical defects. We didn’t do any environmental testing like the pros do (like trying to fog them up).

Yeah, I only have One gun but had two scopes, sold both and ordered two new

Interesting SECoda. Was that a test you wrote about on this or another forum?

And how was the March at 80x? I have never seen anything Beyond 30x and would love to try 80x 😛

I finally got to look through a guys March 8-80x. It was the best I have seen and I have seen a lot of the high-end ones now.

You need more guns. 🙂

How does the Leupold (which I own five of) glass and clarity compare to the Deltas and March?

All three scopes have nice glass with good clarity imho. The March however is in a class off its own, both optically and feature wise.

Too few posts on scopes on this forum IMO. I am more interested in scopes than guns to be honest

Ditto.
At the moment I have one rifle, three scopes and one Meopta reddot.
