I see Georgia airguns has Shorty’s for sale but no quoted price. Anyone call yet?
If in deed the new Mutant 25 can not make the high 800 FPS mark, I am hopping for 900 FPS mark , I will have to write it off as not the next gun for me,,,
I got a 25 Cricket that will reach out there and knock holes in wasp cans (steel) at 100 yards,
I just do not see a 700FPS 25 cal gun doing this unless you shim the scope OR F X builds some 30mm Picatinny no limit scope rings, Even so to much of an arch shot for me,,,,
I think the higher FPS guns are better at longer ranges , I know we have to watch the sound barrier and what it does to pellets .
That’s why I bought into the whole 25 caliber thing was the guns can shoot faster and have a flatter trajectory than the old 177 calibers of the past.
That’s what I was told, Are we going backwards?????
Make it simple explaining this stuff to me,,,,,,
I want to reach out and touch the red dot at 100 yards with out aiming at a 90 degree angle to do it,

I haven’t asked yet…. and they are still doing a lot of testing. I would imagine it will be like the .22…
Where the short is a little slower…. but the standard should be up to snuff….
When he was telling me a few details…. he expected 70 joules…
FX has been making NO limit mounts for picatinny for ages now….

Yep 30 shots from that little air tube is amazing.

My next bullpup will be a short again.
If I can’t get my hands on a 177 then I ‘ll get the 25.
If it’s too loud, then I’ll turn it down.
A shorty doing 40-45 fpe, and more quite will do the job also. :4:
Ernest’s .30 cal shorty is pretty badass. He said it got 28 shots with 44gr at 700 fps. I’m sure it required a decent amount of air to push that pellet. I expect at minimum 30 good shots from a .25. The big question is at what speeds. Speed would dictate loudness as well. 800ish fps would keep the sound levels tame but 900+ would make it as loud as an R3M .25 in my opinion which is rather loud for backyard use unless you got a few acres.
Maybe let’s connect some dots here……
part of the reason a mutant short is as quiet, is the valve work in side the gun also.
When Oakley, was around he would hang out with Erenst.
They would shoot his 30. shorty. Oak said that it was not as loud as he thought it was going
too be. And yes it did have a longer ldc on it.
Now Jamie gave the oal of the 25 shorty it was 1 inch longer than the shorty we have now.
So if the ldc on it is 1 inch longer I bet it may have one more baffle in it.
I could be wrong, but who knows.
It may not be all that bad with the sound, still what if it only got two mags of shots.
It still would be a kick ass, little gun. :4:

Why would you want a .25 short then slap an add-on LDC on it? Kinda defeats the purpose no? Plus guys are struggling to get their shorty to shoot a 18gr pellet in the 850 fps. What makes you think you can push a 25 gr pellet 940 fps in a short with less than a 12″ barrel? That would require some major air consumption.
The reason a mutant short is as quiet as it is is in part due to most shooting in the low 800 fps. Hypothetically speaking even if you’re able to crank it up to 900+ with some heavy mods it would have a serious bark. A 25 gr pellet at the desired speeds that you’re seeking would bark pretty loud. Hence the reason to just get a .25 standard with longer barrel and longer LDC. You might achieve 900+ fps with a 25 gr pellet and the loudness maybe within reason.

What the heck is the OAL, I figure if the 25 has a little bark to it Just stick a LDC on it for city shooting ,

Please give me a 25 short Mutant same size as the 22 shorty shooting 940 PSI, PLEASE…..

I’m not sure I would want a Mutant Short in .25. If the OAL doesn’t change I think it would be loud as hell in order to push a 25 gr pellet at any reasonable speeds. I would rather see a .25 carbine from Taipan or maybe a .25 standard. Now a .177 short would be the cream of the crop.
So guess we will find out when new shipments clear customs.
Good luck in finding a 177 Cricket in short, The Mutant in 177 would be cool….
And its really going to suck when the shorty 25 Mutant comes out,,,,

Try the Cricket, when or if the Mutant comes out with a 177 sell the Cricket and buy a Mutant. IMO once you shoot a Cricket your not going to want to sell it. Try and find one with a skeleton stock, they are lighter than the standard wood and synthetic.
