How many Pumps To Fill Vulcan? Leaking??
Well –
How many Pumps To Fill Vulcan? Leaking??
I got a HP Pump and pumped about 200 times and dial is still showing barely above 0
something is wrong?
When I pump and hold the quick fill up in my hand to test air flow -just of bit of air is coming out
Certainly not what I would call a high pressure flow of air – is this normal?

Greg,
Just completed a project where we installed a 60 horsepower, 60,000 (Sixty thousand!) psi nitrogen compressor for a customer… Have others where we actually generate the nitrogen from atmosphere and deliver it at 45K psi… Those units have an accumulator system with a pre-charge stage that operates at 6K psi… I tap into that and fill a 1.5 CF bottle to 6K psi, then use a regulator to refill my 4500 psi CF tank… Really only have to top off the big bottle about 1-2 times a year… Recently had the trouble with my Vulcan and took it apart… it looked brand new on the inside… no moisture evidence whatsoever… THAT’s what I like about nitrogen!
Hey Salt,
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Nitrogen verses HPAir, very cool thing u have a free resource …… much to expensive for me to get.

Yea Greg,
I am in the high pressure gas business and I essentially get my nitrogen for free, but It sure has cost me a lot in pellets!!! There just ain’t no free rides!!!
Where I am it was hard for me to pay $25 to top fill a CF tank to 4500psi every 2 weeks or so.
My jumping from a Hand pump into a CF tank had to include a compressor also.
Close to $3k latter I told myself, it’s just a hobby. :winkn:

I was never stupid enough to fill my guns by using a hand pump . Always used a tank . You can call me whatever , however ,
by using a tank I was never out of breath and my guns where always filled within seconds .

P.S. Not everything in life has to be learned the hard way .
Happy New Year to you Greg.
Sorry to hear about the pump giving out. You checked the seat of the valve for debris, the valve housing isn’t loose?
Hand pumping here before compressor as well. It DOES make you want to make every single pellet count. 3-4 pump strokes / pellet and every stroke needed me to jump completely off my feet and land onto the pump because I’m actually a bit too light to push down the pump with my weight. Wasn’t pleasant at all. Once you make the leap to tank and compressor, you won’t go back.
In addition to convenience and speed, a good tank and compressor will potentially deliver drier and cleaner air to your gun, if you use a good high side filter.
Echo the sentiment about going through pellets much faster with unlimited air… 8 pounds of lead in my trap in one year.
Hey Zonk long time ……. Happy New Year !
Yah, I hand pump my PCP for a while, 2 years maybe more ………. but …
A friend left his CF tank at our house and that he’ll pick it up latter but in the meantime I could use it to top off my guns.
After 10 seconds of use to fill a gun I was hooked ………… I ordered a CF tank with all the fixings that night.
I have notice with having unlimited air is that now I’m shooting a lot more than ever.
If the OP has gotten into a tank, I’d suggest buying a lot more pellets too. :winkn:

I watched my buddy with his new hand pump, pump up his new FX Bobcat. He damn near had a heart attack doing it. Just when he was about finished I walked out to my truck and grabbed my air tank. I can’t tell you the words he used on me. He immediately put it back in the box and sent back.
Now he has a tank. :8:
Nothing wrong with handpumping. Good for your health and cheap. Not half as bad as everyone says (at least not with the FX pump)
I just open the valve on my tank………………….
Told u get a scba tank [emoji51]
Sent on the go from my pocket.
Good News- got the Vulcan filled to 215 Bar
Bad News – the pump started leaking from the bleed port even with the bleed screw turned all the way in
So – the pump is useless now. I tried a few trouble shooting tips but the manual has no solution for air coming out of the bleed port when the bleed screw is fully tightened. It’s going back. Very bad sign that it did not last beyond 220 bar.

hum, I would think u’d get more consistent accuracy also.
IMO the less water/moister the better in airguns ……… water in being matter will only add to the variability of every shot.
Making it one less thing to factor in by removing as much of it as possible to begin with, making a smaller equation.
60 g’s …………. dang, Salt !
