Q:

wood stock/ Plastic stock, 25 Cricket + saw

Got a couple of extra stocks for the 25 Cricket, Wood is easy to work with and is lighter than the molded black stock.
But I really like the cricket magazine holders,,,
I am going to make me a real wood MUTANT Cricket 25 stock, I will see how short and light I can get it with magazine holders…
Yep , My very own 25 mutant cricket 25,
So hang on guys this may be a total fuck up,

Hey Bill, IIRC now sometime back Kalibrgun upgraded the frame with one that had wider bands.
But IDK if all models where change to the new wider frame and if they kept using that frame till now or they went back to the old ?

Update: Here’s a pic from Tonys, it has a wider frame bands and a new added safety lever band.
But all of which comes with the Bullpup stock with mag holder built in …… so the only one would like an aftermarket mag holder if they swaps-out this stock or needed to hold 1-4 more mags ?
If you count the Picatinny rail grooves and notches on the inside it has 17, on the old 21 = .79″ inside width difference.

I was at work when I read this and didn’t pay it any mind. So there lies the difference. That Cricket wouldn’t be able to hold 3 mags side x side. That must be what the one gentleman had converted to a newer stock because I remember with the measurement he gave me that there’d be no snowball’s chance in hell that 3 mags would fit in that space…. Grrrr…. :angrymob:

So it seems these will only fit 3 side x side on certain Crickets and not others making it harder to keep track.

Too bad that’s not a pic of my wife but rather a pic I stole off the internet. I’m glad there will be no prize or financial gain lest I get sued by the person who DID take that pic. :angrymob: :4:

My skeleton stock is 25 inches , My 25 synthetic stock is 22 inches , If I get my 25 Cricket back I would like to cut the Skeleton stock down to about 20 inches , Looks like I will still have a lot of support for the air tube ,
And the 22 and 25 Cricket fit the skeleton stock, But the trigger hole will need a little work.
Waiting for cooler weather just to shoot.

Hey fellas

That Rapid-70 stock measures 22 inches exactly at the longest point. The stock is a special treated beech wood that has been hardened and is light and doesn’t dent as easy as the skeleton stock I have. The guy that made these is from Spain but it’s been a couple of years since I heard from him. He’s been great to work with.

Steve, I’m LOVING this stock you’ve got on here. It’s gorgeous as well as functional. Feels great in the hands and feels great shouldered. The rounded edges feel much better than my squared off Taipan stock. LIke I emailed you, I’ve seen pics floating around from the past on the forums of a Rapid stock on a Prod and that thing looked badass! Reminds me of a li’l Lelya…

Pics stolen from the net…

I thought I remembered reading about that safety. That would definitely not allow for a mag holder in that forward-most spot. I’ll have to remember that. Also the way I saw it was only those with skeletonized stocks would need or want holders to begin with. The built-in holders from the factory are nice and I wouldn’t want to use the holders I make over those.

I kept seeing pics on the net of Crickets with thinner and wider frame bands and didn’t know if it was some optical illusion or what. Then I realized there are actually thinning and thicker frames…so long as the inner distance between them is the same, it’s of no consequence.

Not sure Mike. Maybe he’s watching and will chime in, not sure. All I know is Steve is great to work with, as have been everyone who’s gotten holders from me. Love the hobby, love the hobbyists as well. Greg GKU has helped out a lot from the beginning. He and DonnyDu really gave me that extra push to get this idea going. Really, thanks to everyone. 😛 :tag:

Steves Baby bug with that little stock looks kick ass,
And the magazine holders just sets it off,
Very cool.
I wonder what it measures from end of butt stock to end of front wood?
Mike

Could anyone with a Cricket Compact please confirm your size matches Steve’s airgun?

All I had available was my Bushnell Holosite so I popped this puppy atop the Cricket (truly holographic, same company that makes Eotech, L3 Technologies)

Steve’s baby bug with Rapid stock, permission to post granted…

That’s what I’m wondering…

HUM, If that’s true then the 25 cal Compact has a unique frame config size compared to all ?

~ Greg

Holy chit, Batman. I’m all sorts of confused. I had a gentleman months ago take measurements for me and we came up with the fact 3 wouldn’t fit on a .25 Compact. Aw, hell. If they do then we’re in business. I know you and I didn’t know the exact measurements of the .25 magazines vs the .177/.22, and then measurements came rolling in for the Compact leading me to believe it would be limited to 2 mags side x side and the rest is history.

Chalk it all up to being my fault. I’m a lowly Taipan guy. :8:

quote Bizill:

The other issue was how many mags can fit side x side. Well, I was lent a Cricket Standard so it’ll fit 3 side x side of the .25 mags/holders just like the .177/.22. The problem is with the Cricket Compact. I’ll need dimensions on that as I know only 2 mags will fit in the same space being it’s been shortened.

Bizill, Who told u that only 2 mags will fit ?
My Cricket 22 Standard and Compact 177 cal share the same frame width and fits 3x,
Only the barrel, shroud and fore stock is shorter.
