Installing offset mod questions. (clipping)
I am wondering how you guys keep the offset mod baffles from turning when you tension the baffle nut? I have watched Ernest’s video but just wondering how everyone else does it. Also how much tension is really needed, hand tight + half a turn, a whole turn?

There is anoher way to adjust the mod without inlarging the hole.
But, I needed to see the tape test for me to tell you how much and how.
All in all you got it shooting good now, that the main thing I’m guessing.

Shooter, well I tried your method (even though I was reluctant but figured what the hell it’s no good to me if it clips) and it did the trick. I lightly sanded it at 12 o’clock with 320 grit paper. I’m not sure how much I removed but it was only very little and just held a little downward pressure on the end of the mod while torquing it initially. No more clipping, and no more 2 inch groups (back to stacking pellets at 25 yards and .5″ at 50 yards). Thanks for the help I appreciate it!
I think you exaggerate that a little bit. There should not be much difference. Anyhow, I would try my approach before dealing with the exit hole.
if you make the exit aperture larger, it can easily double the report. i guess you dont care.

With the results from the Tape Test you’ll know how much off it is or NOT.
Also, how do you know that it is clipping ?
But if you’re looking for a quick and easy fix it’s up to you what you deside on doing.

Yup mine too unfortunately… Shooter I’m not sure that’s the way mine needs to be fixed because I just need to get the pellet past the very end of the exit hole. I think the thing to do is use some sandpaper on a wooden dowel and “polish” away the anodizing in the end cap and see if that gives me enough clearance? I’ve done the same on other guns (Wildcat Uggh) and it worked.
I could not find one thread on this forum where someone mentioned that their offset mod was clipping so I didn’t think it was that common but maybe. Most probably just fix it instead of bitching about it like me lol.

Nope. I had the exact same problem which I fixed the way I described. Clipping is a pretty common problem in EDguns. I also had such an experience with Matador .30. Clipping, clipping everywhere!
Manufactures with less confidence in their product/construction will often compensate by increasing the exit hole to make most alignment less problematic for the enduser ……. unlike Donny’s LDCs which are made extremely precise !
The stock Edgun Offset should work without any mod, Ed made sure they would.

Scary shit it was, with a .01″ clearance is about the thickness of 3 layers of folder paper.
According to my jig it’s off by only 1 thickness over to one side.
The first trigger pull was heart wrenching, like trying to blindly threading a needle with 2 threads. :rofl:

I am wondering how the HW ldc’s work so well. I haven’t measured it but the (hex) exit hole on my .25 is massive! If it comes down to it and I need to open the exit hole up on my offset would it really make a noticeable difference in the sound? I don’t want to ruin it, I just spent a years salary on the damn thing! :rofl: :rofl:
Damn Greg!! Wow the hole is so small on the .22 Sumo. Only for the brave I guess, that’s like perfect alignment right there with your jig. I definitely can’t count on people to be able to do this. Even with the 8 mm bore hole on the .25 there’s very little room for error.

I had tried to do your tape test but I just wiped my gun down with ballistol to clean the lead dust off from changing the mod so the tape wouldn’t stick. I’ll try again this afternoon. Looking down the bore the ldc looks pretty near centered just a tiny bit off but I thought maybe just the way I was looking at it. The eye plays funny tricks sometimes. I am reluctant to open baffles up only to make the gun louder which would make the offset mod pointless.
I will be off work early today because it’s colder than a polar bears taint out here haha! I hope I can get it aligned like your Greg but it seemed no matter what I did ( without removing metal) tensioning it just sucked it right back to the same spot. It seems that for $150 it might have tighter tolerances…. Like Donny’s ldc’s! :smilen:

You should be good with a 6.8mm exit hole, did you check yours with my LDC alignment Tape Test ?

For a 22 cal it’s possible to go down to as much as 6.35mm diameter minimum clearance without any clipping.
I wouldn’t recommend go lesser than that unless you have special alignment tools to check before taking a test shot !
Donny going to be shock when I say this ……. about the 22 cal SUMO I got from him with a 6.9mm exit hole.

I think shooters method will only work for minor cases of clipping because no matter how much you remove from the area where the baffle nut sits, the bushing between rear shroud tube and mod. will still only let the mod. move a tiny amount. In my case I think just that small amount of wiggle room gave me enough space to get it aligned. I also had the nut torqued too much at first I think because my barrel was arcing upward slightly and by backing the tension off 1/8 turn my barrel/shroud is now parallel with the AT. I’m not sure if it helps accuracy any but it sure looks better.
